Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | BT Talks Ghost Producing, ASAW, Sharks & More (FNT Exclusive)
Posted by Middy on August 27, 2013
BT has become a standard bearer for innovation and excellence in dance music. He is noted as a creative producer of many different styles and sounds, as well as an acclaimed film scorer and programmer: the mind behind the now necessary stutter edit. His 9th artist album “A Song Across Wires” instantly shot up to number one on the iTunes dance charts and has produced such singles like “Must Be The Love”, “Skylarking”, and “Tomahawk”. We had the chance to chat with him last week before his show at Marquee, and of all the people I have had the chance to interview like Hardwell, Arty, Thomas Gold and Andrew Bayer, BT was probably my favorite guy to talk to.
Later that night we got to catch his set at Marquee that featured a heavy dose of ASAW and more danceable tracks from the lengthy BT discography. There were plenty of avid BT fans in attendance, so this was a party he knew how to play, even at a bottle service club like Marquee. Click past the jump to read our discussion on ghost producing, which he had some very interesting things to say about, the album, his passion for sharks and more.
Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Tom Swoon Interview [FNT Exclusive] + “Asura” Edit
Posted by Middy on August 19, 2013
Polish producer / DJ, Dorian Tomasiak or Tom Swoon, formerly Pixel Cheese, has been on a meteoric rise in the past year or two, with his brand of melodic big-room house that has seen strong support from the likes of Avicii, Nervo, Paul Oakenfold and others. Just two years out of high school, he still can’t believe that 3 years ago he was making bootlegs and remixes as Pixel Cheese and here he is now headlining his own shows and playing main stage at some of the biggest festivals in Europe. He has had a busy summer, touring the globe playing in Ibiza, the European festival circuit, some shows here in the US, with an upcoming gig at Creamfields. Last week he was in New York for a show at Lavo and we had the chance to ask him about a variety of topics from his DJing style, advice for new producers (Digidoric was his very first producer name) and what he has coming up. Read the full interview after the jump and check out his free edit with NYC duo, Filtercrush of their impressive track with Jack & Jordan “Asura”. If you don’t like the “Clarity” vocals on top, the instrumental mix will be coming soon.

DJ Ravi B’s been on my radar as an upcoming producer/remixer ever since he sent over his bootleg Robin S remix of “Show Me Love” He just sent over this dope trap/dubstep remix of Jay Z’s new track “Tom Ford” and I had to give the man a proper introduction on FNT. Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | The Art of DJing, Beginnings, Living with Pasquale Rotella & more with Morten [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by Middy on August 14, 2013
Danish DJ / Producer Morten Breum, now Morten, because “it is easier”, has been around music all of his life. His father, a music teacher back in Denmark, put Morten in an environment where music was king, and this led Morten to enter DJ classes at his school at 13. From there he was hooked, soon playing gigs at local bars and soon local clubs, elevating himself to becoming the icon he has become in Denmark, scoring commercial endorsements with Pespi and Red Bull (and even his face on Pepsi bottles) and playing at a royal wedding, what up Armin. He moved to LA two years ago, where he has become much more anonymous and enjoyed the LA life.
We caught up with him on the tail-end of a busy week of meetings with labels, media and other people in New York, that was to finish off with a show at Lavo NYC that Thursday night. Later that day he was going to get an additional tattoo (he has A LOT of them) with Vice filming the whole thing. Seems a bit weird to watch someone get punctured with needles and ink, but hey, to each their own. His production “Look Closer” was supposed to come out on the 6th of August on PRMD, but it was not releasing in Denmark on that date because of territory restrictions, so Morten decided to put it off until Denmark could be put in the original release, to stay true to his original fans, and so it is coming in 5 days. Click the jump to catch our interview where we talk about ditching university for DJing, playing hits, crazy people in Vegas, living in Pasquale Rotella’s house and more.
Hip-Hop, Videos | QuESt – NEATO Season

“What up to VMG, ya bish?” – QuESt
If you’ve been following Logic, the VMG movement, and the openers on the tour, you may have become familiar with Miami, FL rhymer, QuESt. QuESt is by no means a new artist to FNT, but he’s been diagnosed with “the skill” and will be the next artist to receive the “VMG treatment”.
QuESt has been patiently waiting behind the scenes, working, learning, anticipating his first move with the independent label that recently birthed Logic, Jon Bellion, 6ix, and GRVTY. Returning with his first video single, “NEATO Season” over Childish Gambino’s “Unnecessary”, Q carries his newly acquired torch as he sets forth on his new episode, spitting flaming metaphors and bars packed with intellect. NEATO; wondering what it is? Never Ever Allow The Obscene. The movement QuESt stands behind, the movement you will soon be following (if you aren’t already). Enjoy this video and stay on your toes for much more to come from the next up.

Hip-Hop, Rap | GoldLink – Electronic Relaxation (prod. Ta-Ku)
Posted by admin on August 8, 2013
Some of you may already be familiar with Virginia rapper, GoldLink, because of his previous track “They Don’t Like Me”, which was featured on FNT a few weeks back. However, if you are not yet “hip” to the spitter, have no fear. I couldn’t imagine a better introduction to GoldLink’s music than the versatile track “Electronic Relaxtion”.
The instrumental was constructed by chillwave producer, Ta-Ku, and despite the complexity of the beat, GoldLink manages to control his delivery and play off the intricacy to make an astounding sound. Although he’s still finding his stride within his music, the amount of raw talent and promise that spews out of every bar shows just how bright of a future that GoldLink has ahead of him.

Alternative | Kings of Leon – Wait For Me

I’m going to bring you back to ’08- ’09 with these guys, but Kings of Leon just dropped an uplifting track off their upcoming album Mechanical Bull, and it’s FNT worthy. “Wait For Me” has the same kind of sound that made these guys big, with tracks like “Use Somebody” and I’m glad they’re back at it. Stream it off their SoundCloud, purchase it on iTunes and if you’re an EDM producer, let’s hear some remixes!
