Electronic, Hip-Hop, Preview | JayLotus – TRON LEGACY
Posted by Mach on April 22, 2013
Damn, JayLotus really knows how to make a fly beat. I felt the Tron bike was best suited for this, it feels like a song that you would listen to riding off into the distance on a super fast motorcycle. JayLotus has been releasing so many cool tunes recently it’s almost too hard to keep up with it all. His new EP, “Thrust” is releasing on April 29th.

Trance | Ferry Corsten – Silfra
Posted by Spice on December 3, 2012
I’m not sure how this managed to fly below the radar. Inspired by a summer trip to Iceland and as a “thank you” to his fans, Ferry Corsten brings us “Silfra,” a melodic, progressive track that speaks to his roots as a producer. Trance fans will no doubt be pleased by the somewhat nostalgic vibe here — and the fact that it’s a free download. And if the album artwork is any indication, I think it’s safe to say that he’s captured the essence of the place. Check it out below.
Progressive House | Madeon – Icarus (Collin McLoughlin Vocal Edit)
Posted by GMONEY on April 23, 2012
Collin McLoughlin latest release, an uplifting Vocal Edit of Madeon’s Icarus, is nothing short of epic. Not only does Collin preserve the same exhilarating feel that characterizes Madeon’s music, but he also developed lyrics which expand upon the central theme of the original song. As Collin himself describes,
Feeling inspired by the song I set out to create lyrics that related to the original Icarus story
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story of Icarus and need a quick refresher course on Greek Mythology, please allow Wikipedia to bring you up to speed:
The main story told about Icarus is his attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that his father constructed from feathers and wax. He ignored instructions not to fly too close to the sun, and the melting wax caused him to fall into the sea where he drowned.
So take a moment, bask in the the production greatness that Madeon never fails to provide, and really pay close attention to the beautiful lyrics that Collin so masterfully composed.
Hip-Hop | B.O.B. ft. Bun B & Big K.R.I.T.- 5 On The Kush

Okay, so usually I post really soft rap with super melodic beats, not this time. I want to describe this song, but I’d rather just describe what I’d do with the song. First of all I’m going to borrow my friends black Range Rover (because my white car is just too girly), then I’m going to get my biddies, roll the windows down, get out the most obnoxiously large aviators and bounce. I live in maybe not the best area of a metropolis and I’m just going to roll out and be a badass for a 5 minute campus loop. Bam! Instantly (kind of) fly.

Hip-Hop, RnB | Cities Aviv – Float On
Posted by GMONEY on October 12, 2011
Personally, in my opinion rap has been dumbing down the masses for ages now, and to a lesser extent the artists themselves. Let me prove this point real quick:
Lyrics in the 70’s
Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face, stars fill my dreams I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been. To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen. They talk of days for which they sit and wait, all will be revealed. – Led Zeppelin – Kashmir [1975]
VS
Lyrics in 2010
They be actin like they drunk, actin-actin like they drunk. When sober girls around me actin-actin like they drunk. Poppin bottles in the ice, like a blizzard. When we drink we do it right gettin slizzard. Sippin sizzurp in my ride, like Three 6. Now I’m feelin so fly like a G6 – Far East Movement – Like A G6 [2010]
CASE CLOSED. When it comes to rap, I’m motivated to wish I was partially deaf 95% of the time. Although once in a blue moon a rare gem reaches the surface for air, instantly a pulse goes back into the heart of rap and it begins breathing, real talk. Float On has one of the strongest rooted verses ever.

Electro, Pop | Teddybears – No More Michael Jackson

Stockholm’s own Teddybears did their thing on “No More Michael Jackson.” Smooth synths, robotic voices, a fist-pumping beat, and a crazy dirty chorus. If you fly down highways, cop this.

Hip-Hop, House | Flo Rida ft Taio Cruz – Hangover

As we explained in a post a few weeks ago, Flo Rida originally ripped Avicii’s “Levels” as the instrumental for this track…however he clearly learned that wouldn’t fly and went with a different beat. You can still hear a little of the “Levels” melody at a few different points, which makes me hate a Flo Rida a little more than I already do. To read the full controversy click here.
