DJ-Set | Sensation: Denmark Review/Full DJ-Sets

Posted by on November 12, 2012

Please, please, please, do yourself a huge favor and pull out your bucket list, to-do list, or whatever you have. Cross out all the other items and write this on the top row, in big, bold letters: See a Sensation concert.

I love live music, so I’ve been to many concerts and festivals over the years in the United States. Many of them have been amazing, but Sensation in Copenhagen, Denmark just blew all my past concert experiences out of the water. If you’re not familiar with Sensation, it is a massive all-night electro/house event where everyone is required to wear white.

Last Weekend, I arrived to Parken Stadium a bit early to make sure to be able to catch all five  DJs on the lineup for the night (Mr. White, Riva Starr, Man With No Shadow, Sharam and Sander Van Doorn). Despite the near-freezing weather, two hours before the doors had even opened the streets were completely packed with people creatively dressed head-to-toe in all white.

All of the friendly Danish people seemed to know the routine: pregame early, and get ready to rage until 3am. I’ve learned a lot while I’ve been abroad, but one of the main things that sticks out no matter what country I’m in is this: Europeans can party. I’ve never seen anything like it. Europeans have the ability to make us (Americans) look like 60 year olds ready for a jazz festival in the local park…

Moombahton | Luminox – Haters

Posted by on June 11, 2012

I am traveling around Europe currently and I couldn’t help but notice the obsession with Star Wars. I have never seen so many Vaders and Stormtroopers casually walking the streets. I thought the picture was well suited for this track titled ‘Haters,’ because they are going to hate no matter if you’re wearing a Deutschland jersey or a Stormtrooper outfit through Italy. Usually I leave the Moombah to Sev, but in the first 30 seconds of this track I fell in love. Time to bust out Deathstar style.

Hip-Hop | Lazee – Better Than The Best (Prod. Rusko)

Posted by on November 28, 2011

I only recently became aware of Swedish rapper Lazee and the tracks I have heard thus far have been impressive. From his catchy Ultra Records release “Hold On” to his single “Young N Restless” featuring Eric Turner, it is easy to see he is a rapper to watch. Having already established a heavy presence in Europe, he has recently been readying up his U.S. debut working with John Legend’s inhouse producers Phatboi Entertainment as well as many others.

The video above shows him in the studio with Phatboi Entertainment as well as FNT regular Kenton Dunson (who previews a new track of his as well). I believe the tracks previewed by Lazee in the video are off his most recent album Suppose To Happen that is out now and an album I definitely need to check out when I get the chance.

I did happen to track down the last song in the video titled “Better Than The Best”, which Lazee describes as “some European crazy shit”. It turns out that the track was produced by none other than Rusko himself and was off his First Class Five Stars – Season 2 mixtape released awhile back (and seemingly impossible to find). He didn’t lie, the track is insane and a must download. Be on the lookout for more music from Lazee in the near future.

Dutch House is the form of house closely resemebling sounds produced by Chuckie, Hardwell, and the earlier music of Afrojack; the high pitched lead sounds are the signature difference between this type of house and others.

Artistic Raw hits us with a Dirty Dutch banger. If you like to get sloppy, start at 2:45. 4/5

Mashups | MASH-UP | The White Panda – Stereo Hands

Posted by on December 11, 2010

This is just a huge Mash Up of one my favorite songs of all time. Thanks for the look on this one Mikey

Over the summer in Europe we fell in love with Edward Maya’s “Stereo Love.” It was only a matter of time before we worked with it and gave it our own flavor, bringing in Waka’s rap anthem “No Hands” and a little Panda production on the side. Hope ya dig.
