Dubstep | Major Lazer ft Flux Pavilion – Jah No Partial
Posted by Sev on October 22, 2012
Major Lazer’s reign of influencing the EDM scene with their Island/Reggae style continues with their latest release and collaboration with the one and only, Flux Pavilion. We first got a real glimpse of this outstanding tune through Skrillex and 12th Planet’s back to back set at UMF, when this tune took the internet by storm. After sorting out all the details and figuring out this was a collabortion between the two heavy hitters, all we could do was wait for some sort of release date and more audio of the track. Diplo is one of those artist who likes to relay a message into his tracks through whatever method possible and in the video provided below, he gives us a little overview as to why he chose the acapella for this Johnny Osbourne classic. This bouncy track definitely exhibits styles from both artists and turned out to be an amazing tune. Grab this track off of Beatport HERE.
Drum & Bass | Spor – Ziggurat/Push Me, Pull You
Posted by Mach on October 15, 2012
Drum & Bass’ God has returned. Over the past few months, Feed Me AKA Spor, has shown resentment to his legendary ego, Spor. It was feared that Spor would be no more, but to our great surprise, the legend in EDM has released these two tracks saying this, “Who said I left? Genres mean nothing to me, I just love music, thank you to everyone who supports me.” Clearly he was messing with us, well that’s a great weight off my shoulders haha. Spor has proven that he still has it, and that his Feed Me persona has not taken control of his other talents within electronic music. He may be one the best, well rounded producers in EDM. Though, these track have released through the UK, I do not doubt the peoples ability to uncover them in other ways on the internet. Enjoy.
Interviews, Trap | Sidney Samson – Riverside (Spenca OG Trap Bootleg) + Exclusive Interview
Posted by Sev on October 15, 2012
Spenca has become one of the most versatile artist to storm through the EDM scence in the past few years. Releasing material through multiple genres, that have been recognized and exposed by some of the top artist in the industry. Having his songs played by Rusko through his early years of production, to collaborating with artist such as AFK Dubstep and DKS Dubstep, to even having Avicii playing his amazing house anthem Superstition on one of his podcasts. This artist is not afraid to try his talent in different genres, and with the release of his latest free tune we get to see his work in Trap. Needless to say this is just him having “fun”, he is a multi-talented producer to say the least. Taking Sidney Samson’s Riverside and lacing it with some heavy bass and tight snare’s to transform the track into a Trap’t out banger. The track is a definite must have, but we were also given the amazing opportunity to sit down with this talented producer and go one-on-one with him and his career as a producer. This is by far one of my favorite interviews I have had so far, because not only was he looking out for his best interest and exposure, but also trying to help those out that are in the same position he was once in as a producer. It is always great to have someone that has worked with some of the best and with so much experience and talent to shine some light on what it takes to make it in the EDM world. Check out some of Spenca’s social media below along with the interview.

Artists, Trap | Candyland – Trap Music Fire
Posted by GMONEY on October 10, 2012
Santa Barbara’s own, Ethan Davis & Josie Martin, known in EDM world as Candyland have been tearing up the scene utilizing elements from Moombah, Trap, Drumstep, and Glitch Hop. About a week ago they put out a remix on Lil Jon’s “Snap Your Fingers” and the result is 3 minutes of straight TRAP/MOOMBAH FIRE. The smooth pulsing bass at the beginnig perfectly complements the heavy Electro-Trap drop, get this one for sure. Their most recent release is a heavy dubstep take on Krewella’s “Can’t Control Myself” and before that they added some OG trap into PSY’s “Gangnam Style”. Get at their Soundcloud and Facebook to check out tour dates and updates.
Dubstep, Trance | Seven Lions EP Teaser (Release on 10/16)
Posted by Sev on October 6, 2012
After having two monster remixes released in the past two weeks, Seven Lion’s is back again with a big announcement. The Seven Lions EP has been signed by one of the biggest EDM labels around currently, OWSLA, and set to be released on 10/16. I definitely didn’t see this coming, but I am ecstatic for him. Showing us that no matter what label wants to release his music, he stays true to his style and what he does best, which we see a showcase of in this teaser video. The Trance infused dubstep style seems to have appealed to Skrillex enough for him to sign this magnificent artist’s EP in what is going to be one of the top releases on the label in the past few months. There isn’t much else to say that we already haven’t about Seven Lions, but the wait for the next 10 days is going to a long and eager one. With that said, we also got a sneak peak at one of the tracks from the EP courtesy of Spin Magazine and it is surely a promising one.
Dubstep | Pretty Lights – So Bright
Posted by Mach on October 2, 2012
This may be the first time ever that Pretty Lights is making us buy a new single of his. This is a huge step in the artist’s career seeing as he has prided himself on the ability to release all of his music for free despite their availability on iTunes and Beatport. “So Bright” actually has little bit of Dark Soul style to it, mainly having to do with Pretty Lights’ way of infusing Dubstep with Soul and Hip-Hop. Not including his usual vocal sampling, the unnamed guy that comes in to drop a few verses is a nice touch. Pretty Lights is still a pioneer in EDM, it has been some time since he has released a big project. I wonder if this is the beginning to one?
UPDATE!!!!!: So Pretty Lights has stated this was not supposed to release yet so he has released it for free on his site. He has stuck with his original idea of everything free, true class.
Electro, Mainstream Remix | Hoodie Allen — Small Town (SmarterChild Remix)
Posted by jeffwbaird on September 27, 2012
I don’t generally dabble in anything outside of the hip-hop hemisphere, but SmarterChild hit me with this remix to one of the more ardent tracks from Hoodie Allen’s latest EP, “Small Town,” and he fantastically manipulates it into a electro jam. For Hoodie and EDM-heads alike, this is a sure crowd and party-pleaser, with a hearty dose of electronic riffs and yet still a strong residue of the original.
