Chill, Electronic | Chiefs – Stay ft. Nick Acquroff

Posted by on November 5, 2013

Chiefs gave me the honor of premiering his video for his new track “Stay ft Nick Acquroff (of Sons et al.)” The video is directed by Jarred Osborn and Julian Lucas and features scenes of a man and a woman dealing with some conflicting emotions. The track itself is relaxing and unique. The vocals will remain in your ears all day. It’s eerie and definitely something different.  Here’s what Chiefs had to say about the meaning of the video:

“The song is quite ambiguous and lends itself to self-interpretation. The video reflects this and allows the watcher to draw their own conclusion about what is happening. Is she real or not…”

I’d like to cordially introduce you all to the up-and-coming producer, Andrew Luce. Coming out of The Bay, this kid has been throwing down tracks for about of year, dabbling in genres like trap, house, mashup, and many more. The versatility of this guy’s talent is definitely something to be admired, and he is definitely someone to look out for as the electronic music game continues to evolve (he’s only sixteen, so we’ll be seeing a lot of him). Check out his newest release below, a remix of M.I.A’s “Bad Girls:” it’s got a bassline that absolutely kicks, and the sampling on the drops will have you going nuts. Don’t forget to grab a FREE download, and then show your support by liking his Facebook and following him on Soundcloud/Twitter.

Trap | FS Green – Goolie Goolie

Posted by on October 21, 2013

In his first Run Tha Trap premiere from his release of Main Course, FS Green presents a classic trap style song with an almost ridiculous sounding kids voice in the undertones, but it goes nonetheless. Kind of creepy mixed with kind of hard, this song definitely sets the mood for upcoming All Hallows Eve. Are you ready?

Tajan has been absolutely killing it lately with his quasi-ambient, hip-hop spin on tracks. His newest remix of Black Bear’s “Laid Out” is absolute quality, and will definitely give you the feels. The original (which can be found HERE) is already a solid track, and with Tajan’s influence, becomes an even better listen. Oh, by the way, he’s only 17. Make sure to take a listen below.

Progressive House | Mako – Our Story

Quite honestly, there is a lot of house music these days that feels shallow and empty. That is definitely not the impression one gets after listening to Mako’s latest original “Our Story”. It’s nice to hear music that feels like it was made by actual musicians instead of people who have been playing around in Logic or FL Studio for a few months and are aware of the simple formula that is progressive house. Mako is what this genre needs and it’s a shame there’s not many more producers like them. I really can’t say enough good things about these guys so I suggest you just take a listen. “Our Story” is Mako’s best work so far and an all around great progressive house track.

Alternative, Indie | Generationals – Put a Light On It

Posted by on October 9, 2013

I’m not one to jump to Alternative / Indie right off the bat but after my boyfriend turned me onto the Generationals, I simply could notttt get enough. Definitely a band for the masses with feel good sounds and exceptional lyrics; wouldn’t be surprised if I start hearing them on the radio soon. Enjoy one of my favorites from their most recent endeavor ‘Heza’.

Long Island, NY producer Saint Pepsi released “Unhappy” a few days back “just to see what happens”, and it’s an absolute beauty. He calls this Soul/Emo/Trap music, and it definitely has all 3 genres incorporated. I’ve been vibing out to it all morning, and contrary to its title, the guitar’ll have you feeling at peace, and you might catch yourself doing a little shoulder bounce to the drums, they knock. Stream this record, and get that free download, this is a wonderful piece of work!
