House | Vincent Sparrow – Above All Else

Posted by on December 14, 2012

Okay house music, I get it. Like, seriously, I get it. Can I get something a little exciting? Something with a little bit of a build up that isn’t just beep boop beep boop? Oh, what’s that? Vincent Sparrow? Who? What? Oh my god, my feet are moving. Why am I drunk? Who are you? Let’s make out. FACEBOOK FRIENDS! Where are we going? What’s this underground club? Who’s playing? Vincent Sparrow? Who? Get me a whiskey, I’m going to go dance. Ew, stop grinding on me. Let us get into this cab! Let’s climb the Hollywood sign! Fuck off police! Wait this is seriously high up. Lets play that song again. HA HA HA I’m having the best night ever!

Be careful what you wish for. Be thankful that you wished for Vincent Sparrow. Go be irresponsible.

FYI | Al Walser: The Definitive Guide

Posted by on December 6, 2012

If you’re among the dwindling percentage of the population that considers the Grammys to be a relevant barometer of today’s music scene, this was probably an exciting morning for you. Nominations for the 2013 awards (where we honor songs from 2012; yes, it’s all terribly confusing) have arrived — and in true Grammys fashion, there are some absolute curveballs thrown into an otherwise dull and predictable mix. Chief among them:

1. No nominations for Bieber. Cue mass Belieber outrage. God willing, however, the Biebs will still get tapped to perform, and in doing so will treat us to yet another glorious display of those drop crotch Hammer-pant legging things he so favors.

2. “Levels” was apparently released after October 2, 2011 and thus qualifies for a nomination.

3. Al Walser.

Since we’re assuming that this is the first you’re hearing of Al, we’ve prepared this handy guide to get you up to speed with the man of the hour. Check out the high budget marvel that is the above video, and then join us after the jump.

Electro-House | Clinton VanSciver – Hashtag Swag

Posted by on December 5, 2012

We’ve posted about Clinton VanSciver a few times this year, but this is one of the coolest/most unique tracks we’ve seen come from the young up and comer. He blends his signature Dirty Pop style with flow from Baltimore rapper Hella Hazard, and the result is a something you’ve probably never experienced. The release, out on Prep School Recordings, features several remixes, but my personal favorite is Matt DiMona’s progressive-house take on the track. Check them out below:

Dubstep | Excision, Downlink, & Space Laces – Raise Your Fist

Posted by on November 15, 2012

Destroyed is the joining of three of Dubstep’s epic filth mongers, Excision, Downlink, & Space Laces. Their plan so it seems is to destroy our ears with some of the dirtiest Dubstep to be released. So far… I believe they are succeeding. This track owns face, sending a monster of bass through your eardrums, exiting through your mouth in a “wow.” Jump on this nasty track, it’s a game changer.

RnB | Inc. – 5 Days

Posted by on November 14, 2012

An illusive mystique surrounds the LA-based brothers known as Inc. Andrew and Daniel Aged both carry an ample wealth of experience having spent several years playing, recording and touring with names such as 50 Cent, Elton John, and Pharrell Williams among others. Gaining only what I can imagine to be a superb vault of internal perspective, they started recording and mixing their forthcoming album No World in the winter of 2011, and is set to debut February 19th 2013 on 4AD. After first hearing 5 Days I immediately thought back to this. Fine wine measured in time.

Indie | W8’s Indie Pack #5

Posted by on November 5, 2012

“Our motto used to be hakuna matata, now its like fuck bitches get money.” Ah, yes, remember when we didn’t have to remember the good times? It’s at moments such as that realization when indie has the most relevance to my playlist, and every now and again my collection revamps itself with a new post like we have here. This pack of tunes differentiates a bit from previous ones but still that overall essence is there. If I could paint a visual to this particular collection it would be with a few friends driving through the desert in a boat-like 1970’s Cadillac convertible.

Now, with a variety of artists present I’ll save you from individual descriptions and let you get right to it, so without further ado let the plays begin and don’t forget to continue after the jump.

Contests, Cover | Zach Heckendorf – Forgot About Dre

Posted by on October 29, 2012

Heckendorf really isn’t a hard name to remember and you’re about to start hearing it a lot. Fresh out of the best state in America (Colorado), singer-songwriter Zach Heckendorf is on the rise and gaining a ton of attention across the nation. As a Colorado native myself, I’ve been lucky enough to follow Zach almost from the start. I know he can rock any tune he tackles, so when I heard he covered a Dr. Dre song I couldn’t wait to listen. As you can see in the video above, Zach brings a new, rumbling energy to “Forgot About Dre,” and hearing him rap at a breakneck speed over his trademark guitar riffs is completely awesome.

If you too become addicted to Zach’s unique sound after watching this video, you can check out more of his music HERE. This guy is insanely talented and such a dynamic singer, I know it won’t be long until he’s at the top.

Now, listen up Colorado fans – Zach hooked FNT up with a huge giveaway for his upcoming show in Denver at the Ogden Theater on November 23rd. The package includes: A pair of tickets, 2 signed CDs (hold on to those!), and a meet and greet with Zach himself. All you have to do is CLICK HERE and SHARE and LIKE the picture. The winner will be announced Friday, November 2nd.
