Alternative, Bass | Wax Motif & Neoteric – Das Machines
Posted by J-Tiffy on August 20, 2013

Two of the three head chefs at Main Course Records have tackled another project together. Their best known collaboration dish was the original version of Go Deep; the massive tune that received stellar remixes from Astronomar and, of course, Torro Torro. Today, they’ve released a special feature entree called Das Machines. This is a heavy dish, with a driving tribal feel. They use a myriad of vocal samples, cooked to perfection and served on a bed of industrial/mechanical sounding percussion, garnished with strange ambient noise. An order of the original version is also served with the “Epic Dub Version”, a spiced up mix of the original – it’s a party in your mouth. As Always, this dish can be grabbed for free, but be sure to support the kitchen with a purchase.

Drum & Bass | I Am Legion Ft. Strange U – Dust Descends

Noisia and Foreign Beggars strike gold, previewing another track from their collaboration group, I Am Legion. This isn’t your typical Drum & Bass tune. If deep Drum & Bass was an actual subgenre, this would be the defining track. We are just weeks away from these collaborator big album release on September 2nd. Bass music is about to have an entirely different face.
Progressive House | Paris & Simo, Merk & Kremont – Tundra

As their collaboration with 3LAU, “Escape” sits prominently at number 3 on the Beatport overall chart, Paris & Simo ride that wave of momentum into the release of another one of their highly coveted tracks, “Tundra”. First premiered by Fedde Le Grand on the MainStage at UMF, Paris & Simo team up with Italian duo Merk & Kremont to give us this bouncy track. “Tundra” combines grinding saws with a rolling bass line to give it an unmistakable groove, while still remaining tough enough for any venue. The Canadian duo are making a strong statement with back to back outstanding releases as they look to propel their careers to even greater heights.

Drum & Bass, FYI | Noisia & Foreign Beggars Join To Create, I Am Legion

One of Drum & Bass’s legendary groups, Noisia, and Grime trio, Foreign Beggars, announced their new epic collaboration project, I Am Legion. It is no surprise that the two groups decided to work together like this. They have done many great tracks together in the past including “Shellshock” and a favorite of mine, “Contact”. Just the other day I Am Legion unleashed a preview on BBC Radio 1 of their filthy new track, “Make Those Moves”. The dominant bass behemoth pounds into your ears taking no prisoners. I Am Legion may end up being one the best things to happen to Drum & Bass, Neuro-funk, and Dubstep in 2013. Keep an eye out for more killer I Am Legion tracks.
Hip-Hop | Adult Swim Singles Program 2013: Run The Jewels (EL-P & Killer Mike) – 36″ Chain
Posted by Mach on June 10, 2013
Adult Swim has just kicked off their Summer Single Program for 2013. For those of you that don’t know about the program, Adult Swim throughout the year collects unreleased tracks from many artists, building a compilation that they release track by track. Today is day one of the series release, starting with a cool collaboration between El-P and Killer Mike, calling themselves Run The Jewels. The track is a future Hip-Hop style instrumental with El-P and Killer Mike gripping a tight flow over the abstraction in the beat. This is just the beginning of an incredible series, with upcoming tracks from Madlib & Freddie Gibbs, Mac DeMarco, Lil B, and even a collaboration between legendary MF DOOM & Captain Murphy (aka. Flying Lotus). No doubt this will end up being one of the most talked about compilations of the Summer. Adult Swim is not allowing a player but if you click the link below you can listen to the single on their website.

Electro-House | Dyro – Leprechauns & Unicorns
Posted by Middy on April 30, 2013
Dyro has been creating quite the buzz recently, with his single with Hardwell “Never Say Goodbye” getting its world premier at Ultra, his collaboration with Bassjackers, “Grid” remaining a staple of sets for months and having released a slew of remixes for the likes of Tiesto, Gabriel & Dresden & more.
“Leprechauns & Unicorns” gives us a new spin on the gritty, Dyro sound that we have to come to love and behold with brooding, pulsing saws, a thumping bass line and pitched synths that round out the formula for Dyro’s next massive track. The two fairytale animals seem too nice for such a grimy, intense track, maybe Dyro has been watching the “Leprechaun” movies of late on his long flights around the world. Leprechaun in the Hood with Ice-T and Leprechaun in Space are both quality films, 5 stars, if anyone was wondering.
