I don’t get excited about much these days. It takes a lot for me to come back and write a post about a project, single, or mixtape that strikes my fancy. It’s safe to say that “Moon Tower” has more than struck a chord with me, turning my general cynicalness into belief and excitement.

“Moon Tower” is refreshing as it is innovative, sure to be the soundtrack to long drives and good vibes. Featuring Big Sean, XV, Dev, Chiddy Bang, and more, 2AM Club’s “Moon Tower” is undoubtedly FreshNewTracks certified. Not downloading this tape would be the biggest mistake you’ve made all month. Hit “read more” to check out the track list in its entirety.

Hip-Hop | Master Shortie – Nobody Taught Me [Music Video]

Posted by on December 21, 2012

Fresh off the release of his Studying Abroad mixtape featuring Outasight, Chiddy Bang and Ed Sheeran, Master Shortie is back with a brand new music video and song entitled “Nobody Taught Me”. The song is super fresh with an uptempo beat and a great hook. It is easily one of my favorite Master Shortie songs I’ve heard thus far. It also gives a good background on the London rapper who is breaking on the scene here in the States. Watch the video and download the song below!

Hip-Hop, Rap | Chiddy Bang – Paper and Plastic

Chiddy Bang 2010c Chiddy Bang Paper and Plastic

Chiddy Bang is here once more, a fellow Northfield Mount Hermon psuedo-alumni, him, Converse and Xaphoon create a dope mix of synths and spits. The drums behind the rhymes chill like another member of the band. It’s all around a good song to cruise to late at night. Maybe a preview of a harder Chiddy Bang…who the ef knows.

Electro | The Knocks – Midnight City feat. Mandy Lee (M83 Cover)

The Knocks Midnight City feat. Mandy Lee (M83 Cover)

Wow, The Knocks upload this electro gem of a cover by M83 to their soundcloud about 5 days ago. I got to see The Knocks last summer on Marthas Vineyard while they opened for Chiddy Bang, personally I thought The Knocks performance was much more appreciated than Chiddy Bangs. I actually had never even heard of The Knocks before that night. M83 on the other hand I am familiar with., but nothing else of his work seems to be able to compare to this cover he worked up.

Freestyle, Hip-Hop | Chiddy Bang, Los, Mod Sun x G-Eazy

Posted by on January 6, 2012

Hahaha this video is awesome.  Xaphoon works his magic for the second single off Chiddy Bang’s upcoming album, Breakfast set to be released on February 28th, pulling a Ray Charles sounding piano riff along with soulful background vocals into the beat.  Chiddy and Xaph take it back to their younger days in Chiddy’s basement which segways into a full fledged gospel service which is a play off the original Blues Brothers scene.  Like the first single, “Mind Your Manners”, this song is catchy as hell with some clever verses from Chiddy, but primarily a dope sample from Xaph.

After touring together for several months, Mod Sun recruits G-Eazy and Meta (not to be confused with Metta World Peace) for his newest track produced by Adam Ivy.  ”Rappin’ A$$ Rappers” just goes to show how thug Mod Sun and G-Eazy are.  Hah, psych.  They’re probably two of the most easy going hippies artists in the game and the polar opposite of DMX.  Stay up, they’re coming.

After releasing one of the dopest mixtapes of the year, Los continues doing what he does by rocking a freestyle to Drake’s “Lord Knows” off Take Care.  I’ve heard better free’s from Los, but he’s grown into one of my favorite new artists so it’s impossible to hate on it.  I do respect the Tebow line he threw in though.

Hip-Hop | Crossover Kidz – Grow Up, Kidz (Official Mixtape)

Posted by on December 21, 2011

The man Justin Robinson sent these guys over to me a few days ago and I haven’t taken this track off repeat. The Crossover Kidz are a Kansas City based hip hop Chiddy Bang esque duo with Droobee producing the beats and Muz destroying them. They released a 17 track mixtape a little while back, hosted by none other than DJ Cash, who surprisingly doesn’t shout his name 15 times on every track. Check them out and look out for their name in the next few months. Like them on Facebook here.
