Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Domo Genesis & The Alchemist – No Idols (MIXTAPE)

Posted by on August 9, 2012

Although this is a little late, what we have here is one of the best produced mixtapes of all year. No if, ands, or buts. Straight up, what The Alchemist did to this project is magical. Domo Genesis, garnering some really good features, came out of his shell and really showed his true potential on this tape. After this, I think Domo has a real shot at a decent solo career, just as long as the production is this quality. I’m interested to see what people think of this tape and if they think it’s as good as I do. Any and all comments/opinions drop them in the comment box below.

In honor is Swaggernaut Productions one year anniversary, director Ben Foley has put together a short video recapping some of the top moments of his journey thus far.  Highlighted by his work with Tyga, Kid Ink, Chris Webby, Mike Stud, Huey Mack, and several others, it’s undeniable that SP has had one hell of a freshman year.

At this time I’ll share a friendly reminder that there is less than one week remaining in our featured music video contest! Where to begin? It was just one short year ago 3LAU & the FNT crew were discussing how to get him some of his first couple gigs and now today he’s already performed all across the country including big festivals like Camp Bisco. As 3LAU nears the end of his mashup/bootleg career, he leaves us with a huge mixtape before continuing on to his original productions. The mixtape features twelve tracks, four of which are brand new. It’s summer, you either hate your internship or love having your parents credit card…regardless, take your summer to the next level by downloading the mixtape here.

DO SOMETHING

RnB | Frank Ocean – Pyramids

Posted by on June 8, 2012

I don’t need a snappy intro or hook to draw you in with this song. The song is by Frank Ocean, and that’s all you need to know. Frank doesn’t fail to impress with this one, the first single off of his upcoming album, Pyramids, is a hit. Heads up, the song is 10 minutes long, and it gets a bit repetitive at some points, but damn, is Frank Ocean a talent, this song perfectly showcases his songwriting and vocal abilities. He seems to have cut his public affiliation with Odd Future to a minimum, which shows he’s taking his career as a singer seriously, even if he might not be having as much fun as Taco, Jasper, Tyler and the rest of the gang. After hearing Pyramids, I can’t wait to hear his debut album, Channel Orange coming soon.

Hip-Hop | Jetpack Jones – Be Alone ft. Cliff Savage

Posted by on April 29, 2012

After sinning on Saturday night, and repenting Sunday morning, I get to worship Jetpack Jones’ newest track. He had been telling me for about two weeks that this was the best song of his career. And I didn’t believe until about 5 minutes ago, when I heard it. Jetpack picks up highschool pal Cliff Savage to hop on the track with him, and GeekSquad handles the beat. But the highlight of the song is easily Jetpack’s verse. I won’t say any more, and I’ll leave you to worship this track for yourself. Although I would reccommend liking Jetpack Jones’ facebook page below to stay updated on his ever evolving career.

Hip-Hop | Jacob Es – Paranoia(Official Video)

Posted by on April 17, 2012

The time has come. The Jacob Es x Charlie Like the River contest has come to a close. It’s bittersweet for all of you because you can’t win necklace, but we do get the exclusive drop for Jacob’s newest video. The video features stunning visuals, paired with classic Jacob flow. I say “classic Jacob Es flow” because even in a career so young, he has already created a signature sound through his unique delivery. Paranoia is no different, that Jacob Es style his fans have come to know and love, and of course, he’s rocking Charlie Like the River paint. Charlie himself just informed me this morning that you all have ONE more chance to win a necklace. Go to Jacob’s facebook, and share the video, and you’ll be entered in the drawing for a bonus necklace. For the regular contest winners, check Jacob’s and Charlie’s facebook pages later in the afternoon for the announcement.

Mixtapes | D. Tucker- Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol. 2 (FNT Exclusive)

Posted by on March 1, 2012

FreshNewTracks.com is proud to exclusively bring you D.Tucker’s sophomore project, “Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol.2”. This 23-year-old alternative hip-hop sensation, founder of the YachtLife (Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standard. Talented. Lifestyle.) set sail in the Bahamas and made his way to Miami where he currently resides. Earlier this week, I asked D.Tucker about his first project, what his goals where, and what philosophy his music was guided by. He replied:

When I recorded my first mixtape I was at the end stage of switching my career from a professional photographer into a full time alternative rap / hip-hop artist. I was excited to be utterly focus on, SGIOV2, painting my stories of love and ambitions for YachtLife. As an artist I want to continue to push my creativity to make better work and ultimately make me the best me that I could be. My new fans will eventually learn that I take my craft serious and I work my ass off to better myself for a number of reasons other than kicking it on the beach with in my Sperrys, with Stellas and models. I want to inspire people, make them feel good and let them know that they can do anything that they want to when they put their mind to it with some good work ethics. To say it again in simple terms, I want the people to know that life become a non-stop vacation when you make your passion your profession.

Indeed, this budding artist is doing just that- relentlessly chasing his dreams with an unwavering vision. If D. Tucker continues to drop projects a strong as this mixtape, I predict he’ll be on a Yacht somewhere off the coast of San Tropez in no time. I’ve included my favorite tracks below as well as a download link to the entire project. Hit “read on” for the tracklist.
