Mashups, Videos | Throttle – What’s That Sound (Live Mashup)

Posted by on September 16, 2013

Remember Madeon’s “Pop Culture”? Of course you do, that thing went next-level viral. Since that video using Novation Launchpad, there have been many people making their own videos doing similar styled mashups, some good, some bad, but nothing with the gusto of “Pop Culture”. Well that may have changed. This mashup goes through 30 songs in just 3 minutes, largely incorporating dance music tracks, but also a few pop vocal samples. He also adds a few of his own piano breaks as well. “Pop Culture” changed the game in terms of mashups, and this aught to seal the deal. You can grab the free download below. Full tracklist after the jump.

Posted by on September 16, 2013

Sick individuals and Axwell ft. Taylr Renee - I AMOnce known as the “Lights All Night ID”, Axwell breaks his pattern of blue-balling fans with tracks and releases this one in just 9 months time. This track in simply perfect, with the vintage melodic work we expect from Axwell. We cannot forget Sick Individuals on the track, who have been on fire lately and take another leap forward with this massive collab. Taylr Renee is poised to be a big vocalist in dance music, so be on the lookout for her. If you don’t like this song, we can’t be friends.

Progressive House | Kryder – Aphrodite

Posted by on September 2, 2013

Kryder AphroditeKryder has come quite a long way since his 2011 single on Musical Freedom “K2”. He has collabed with Tom Staar on remixes for SHM and Afrojack and broadened a sound to put out a diverse range of well-supported singles. This time he makes his eagerly anticipated debut on Axtone with “Aphrodite“, a track that has been a favorite of Sebastian Ingrosso‘s, Axwell and the gang for months now and especially during the summer months.

The funky, rolling bass lines that we saw in those past remixes are back in play, while horns round out the groove. Cleverly crafted piano melodies and synth leads bring a melodic component for a vintage Axtone feel. Upcoming on Axtone is Axwell’s “I Am” with Sick Individuals, which is just too good, and saw its radio premier over the weekend on NRJ Sweden.

DO SOMETHING

Progressive House | Marcus Schössow – Reverie (Michael Calfan Remix)

Posted by on August 17, 2013

Marcus Schössow - Reverie (Michael Calfan Remix)Axtone has been busy towards the end of this summer. They have released the original mix of “Reverie” and “Starlight (Could You Be Mine)”, while also previewing the CLMD remix of Discopolis “Committed to Sparkle Motion” (coming on Monday) and revealing info on releases from Axwell, Otto Knows, Thomas Gold & Kryder. Michael Calfan has a strong history with remixes, taking tracks like “Shewolf” and “Momentum” and eliciting their full potential. With this one, the Frenchman keeps much of the essence of the original, while injecting vocal chants and mixes up the timing of the drop with added melodic elements. Look for more from Axtone as the label seems to only getting started as Axwell, like Steve Angello, shows life post-SHM. Your move Seb.

Contests | Axwell Announces Final “Where’s The Party” Competition + Twitter Chat

Axwell Where's The Party

Never been to the land of tall, blond babes? Want to eat a 5-course meal at Axwell’s restaurant in Stockholm? (I do) Want to to go to his show in Stockholm on the 31st? Did I just get your heart racing to 128 bpm? I do not know if there will be a 5-course meal served at this comp, and if your heart automatically races to 128 bpm at the thought of Axwell, then that is dedication.

Well here is your lucky opportunity, Axwell is giving away an all expenses trip to his show at the 9,000 person Swedish Maritime Museum on August 31st, supported by NO_ID, that includes eating at his restaurant, attending his show and staying at some swanky hotel. Don’t be surprised if you meet the Ax-man himself. It would be wrong if you went all that way for free and didn’t. Think you don’t have a chance to meet Axwell? Well you can try and chat with him via Twitter tomorrow at 1pm EST for an hour, so ask him the burning questions you have always wanted to know, like what type of charcoal he uses for BBQs, how often he changes his oil, or what is his favorite snuggie.

To enter all you have to do is tag someone on FB or Twitter and explain why they are the Centre (wrong British spelling) Of Your Universe. Cute isn’t it? Also you have to use the hashtag #AXWELLWTP, which works because hashtags are now acceptable on Facebook apparently. More info on his website, and you can buy tickets here.

FYI | Your Favorite DJs Before They Made It Big

Tiesto, Armin & Ferry

You have seen posts before by other blogs with pictures of DJs when they were little kids or even teenagers. That is cute and all, but here we want to show you when they were looking like goons, in that phase of their professional life they would probably rather forget, when they were young and reckless and not always ready for the camera. Some of them do look like they were born for the camera (see Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong & Carl Cox), but others: oh boy, let’s have some fun on this special Throwback Thursday. Before you move on, please bask in how goonish Tiesto, Armin and Ferry look in that picture. Armin had his law degree at that point. Imagine being represented in court by him; unreal.

Tomorrowland 2013

Tomorrowland has come and gone. It is still with all of those who were there and they would probably do anything to go back.
