Adrian Lux Webster Hall 2

Prinz Adrian Johannes Hynne aka Adrian Lux has had a long, winding road to where he is now, rising to his well-respected status in dance music. First getting into music around the age of 16, he started as a hip hop DJ before moving into the more underground realms of dance music that were popular at the time in his native Stockholm. He eventually found his sound, becoming heavily influenced by indie pop and a wide range electronic artists in Sweden from Andrew Beyer, to Axwell, to Eric Prydz.

We had the chance to talk about his tour and his show last Saturday, his early DJ life, moving to America and what he is in store for the future. Having just released his debut album last spring, and another on the way soon, it will be very exciting to see everything he has in store for us.

Progressive House | Don Diablo & Matt Nash – Starlight (Could You Be Mine)

Posted by on July 26, 2013

Don Diablo & Matt Nash - Starlight (Could You Be Mine) [Preview]With “Reverie” still making waves worldwide, Axwell wastes no time and releases another track from his riches of unreleased songs, keeping the always impressive label on the tip of everyone’s tongues this summer festival season. This track from Dutchman Don Diablo & Scotsman Matt Nash is a tough, yet tasteful cut that uses gritty bass electro stabs, a sturdy bass line, distorted vocals and easy builds to provide a relief from the festival drops seen around the circuit these days. Look for an Otto Knows remix “rumored” to be coming later this summer.

DO SOMETHING

Progressive House | Maarcos – Blaze (Dirty South Edit)

Posted by on July 15, 2013

Maarcos - Blaze (Dirty South Edit)It is always tricky when you see an artist who “edits” a track, like you see here. It could be something significant like what happened to “In My Mind”, which was close to a remix by Axwell, or something as simple as a better mixdown or a small tweak in one part. We will probably never know however. In this track Dirty South edits Maarcos’ “Blaze”, who is fresh from a split with Those Usual Suspects and has decided to stake it out alone. The track brings us back to the bigger songs we heard a few years ago, crafting a very club-friendly sound with churning chords, a punchy bass line and a soothing interlude. “Blaze” has already seen support from the cream of the crop top DJs like Axwell, Seb, Hardwell and Alesso, so grab it today.

Progressive House | Axwell – Center Of The Universe (Jetique Summer Reboot)

Seeing as how the original is so great and Axwell has incredible hair, I did not think there would be a producer who would be capable of crafting a remix that would do it justice. Jetique is a 19 year old from good old Germany and has done just that. His remix retains nothing from the original, except for the vocals of course, and instead goes for a grittier yet uplifting vibe. He did an absolutely tremendous job on this. So much so that I’m having trouble deciding which version I like better.

Preview, Progressive House | Marcus Schossow – Reverie (Preview)

Posted by on July 3, 2013

Marcus Schossow - ReverieAxtone is known for releasing a select few quality tracks in each year that will have a lasting impact on the sound of that year. This year we have seen the impact of “Wakanda” and the hardstyle revival in mainstream house music, plus Axwell’s return to releases with his own “Center Of The Universe“. Now a staple of Axwell’s sets, “Reverie” from Swede Marcus Schossow will finally get its final release with a remix from Michael Calfan coming later in the summer. The track combines an ominous, spacey build with a hard-hitting, churning drop that should make this a summer favorite. Watch for this on July 12th.

Events, Videos | TommorowWorld Releases Trailer, Tickets still on Sale

tomorrowworldIt is old news now that Tomorrowland has expanded its reaches worldwide, first to the United States and possibly in the future to other parts of the world. The festival taking place between September 27-29 in Georgia has been slowly revealing its lineup, with names like Hardwell, Axwell, A-trak, Alesso, Ferry Corsten, Jamie Jones, Tiesto, Porter Robinson & Sebastian Ingrosso set to take the stage. They have just released the trailer for the festival, drawing on footage from last years Tomorrowland and using tracks from the official ambassadors, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, including two unreleased songs. Is it just me or does the last one “WeHa”, set to be the Tomorrowland anthem, sound awfully similar to “Wakanda”? Tickets are still on sale for a much more reasonable price than the $500 you will be dropping for GA at Ultra right now, so go ahead and purchase those now.
