Abstract Hip-Hop, Artists, Chill, Freestyle, Indie, Pop | Leah Haxhi Remedies the Weekday Blues with her New Single “Okay” prod. IAmRizwan

Posted by on January 26, 2016

Leah Haxhi is a singer songwriter currently working on her upcoming album in NYC. She paired with Bangladeshi producer IAmRizwan to create this atmospheric track that makes us feel like everything will be “Okay”. She free-styled the song in one take and then added harmonies to build out the song and create the organic feeling of the single. Leah is working with various producers and labels such as Afrojack, Armada Music, and MixMash Deep. We last gave you a taste of her EDM style with Armada’s record “When We Were Young” by Jaylex ft. Leah Haxhi, but here she shows us once again that her style cannot be put into any box.

Last week, Matt Medved, Billboard Dance editor-in-chief and the DJ / producer, Sicarii, hosted a special “AMA” (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit’s r/electronicmusic subreddit, where he was able to share his experiences as a dance music journalist and building Billboard Dance into the respected publication it is today. Medved began as a Berlin-based freelancer in 2014, but quickly established himself as one of Billboard Dance’s most important assets before joining the Billboard team for good in March of 2015. Since then, he has penned pieces with an eye towards ending the fight between the underground and the mainstream once and for all, in addition to trying to help keep cell phones in your pocket and off the dance floor. In addition to Medved’s work with Billboard, he recently unveiled his DJ / producer persona, Sicarii – and he’s already played Billboard’s Hot 100 Festival and remixed Maroon 5’s “Sugar.”

On his AMA, Matt Medved answered questions on a plethora of topics ranging from the role of ghost producers in dance music, to his favorite genre at the moment, to his favorite artist to see live. It’s not often that casual fans get a first-hand look at the experiences of someone as integrated in the scene as Matt Medved, so we’ve put together a list of our favorite moments from his AMA below the jump. You can check out Matt Medved’s full AMA here.

Brig has been featured on FNT many times, but no release matches the depth that Brig puts out on this one. The Russian bass artist added some of the most emotional elements to his music ever – and it translated brilliantly.

When that guitar parts hit, you get stuck in this happy trance where you’re loving what you are hearing but have no idea what’s coming next. Each passing beat bring about some large or small, but smooth change.

Brig is on fire going into 2015, check out more about him here.

Babbit combines sensational vocals with electronic sounds and grand piano chords to produce an emotional song that will have you closing your eyes and bobbing your head. With only two songs on his Soundcloud, people must be wondering where he came from. With a song like this, he deserves the praise he will undoubtedly receive in the future.

Leah Haxhi, NYC singer/songwriter, hits us with another Adele cover that rivals all the competition. Keeping it simple with just minimal piano and vocals, this live video gives you the feeling you are sitting right there in the studio with Leah. At first it seems as if she is keeping it very close to the original, but then the second chorus breaks off into a free-style bridge that adds a unique twist to the song. Live studio visuals by Marin Hamataj and Brenton Ruh also complement the relaxed feeling of the cover. We expect to see big things from Leah in the near future, as she is putting together a demo of original songs and also working on new tracks with various DJs and producers such as Afrojack, Shelco Garcia and Teenwolf, and some other hard-hitters in the EDM and pop world. BTOYL hits a home run with this one. Based out of California, the solo artist has slowly been releasing tracks here and there. The art and sound of this one is a breathe of fresh air. The trippy, repetitive, and constant cycle of catchy sounds makes “Catchy” easy to love. BTOYL is just getting started, check out his socials above.
