When looking for amazing melodies and production, look no further than Pegboard Nerds. Having teamed up with the rising star Tristam and the guys over at Monstercat to release this amazing Mid-tempo track, there is no stoping them. Their tracks are so unique and well produced its hard not to be addicted to their style and aggressiveness. Approaching almost the halfway point in the year, if I were to say there is one artist to look out for in 2013 it is undoubtedly the Pegboard Nerds. Nothing but quality comes from this duo and it is all inspiring work.

I couldn’t believe my ears when I woke up this morning to this free download from the legendary Emalkay. I can’t recall how many times I have heard this monstrous tune played out and how many times my jaw has dropped. This tune has been on my hit list for over a year now and finally having made my week, even my month. I love everything about this tune, and couldn’t believe he decided to just give it away for free. When an artist of this caliber gives away what is easily one of his best tunes, alongside Fabrication, you know they aren’t in the business for the fame and money. I would highly recommend everyone grab this tune, because it is a memorable one.

Dubstep | Nostalgia – The Hero VIP

Nostalgia might not be one of the most well known artist, but man does he know how to write some sick tunes. ‘The Hero’ was the first tune I heard from him, taking the Zelda theme and giving it his own heavy spin. Now releasing the VIP, he showcases just how much his production has grown as an artist. Listening to the original, then this VIP we clearly get to see the progress dubstep has made. In the original he showcases that old school one wobble/Nero sort of drop, but in this VIP he goes all out with a new crazy synth and melody. The kick and snare in this VIP have a much more punchy transient as well compared to the original, which helps add a more thunderous impact.

FYI | will.i.am Responds to “Rebound” Theft Accusations

Posted by on April 27, 2013

Will.i.am It wasn't me

After admitting to the theft on the radio a few days ago, will.i.scam has gone on camera with the Associated Press in an interview about the issue. He attempts to deflect blame of the whole thing from himself by saying Arty in an email was “excited” and that this is an issue for the Interscope legal team. This purported email directly contradicts Arty’s statement that he and Anjunabeats had never been contacted for clearance, so I would be interested to see proof of it. He never says it is Arty in the interview, but he mentioned Arty in the Kiss FM interview and as of now Arty is credited as a writer for the song (illegally according to Arty). Will.i.am continues on to claim ignorance that he did not know there was another guy (Mat Zo) and that it was Arty’s job to notify him of a collaborator on the song and not will.i.am’s job as an “artist” to actually know the music he was stealing. He also passes the blame onto legal and its long bureaucratic processes, because those things just can’t be changed.

I don’t get it. I have searched the web for a version of “Rebound” that is just labeled as Arty and it simply does not exist. To claim ignorance that the song is just an Arty track is thinking that he can fool the world and we will not fall for it. “Rebound” is as much a Mat Zo track, as it is an Arty track. Making that claim just diminishes his plummeting status as an artist anyway. Will.i.am is pulling a Shaggy right now and trying to say it wasn’t me even though IT CLEARLY WAS. We caught you in your studio Will, hope you didn’t leave any spare keys around.

Electronic | Affelaye – Before

Affelaye continues to preview breathy lullabies off his debut EP ”Maybe There” that is soon to be released. Enhancing the scenery and smell of misty air, Joe Martin brings the bedroom to the beach. Coupling that with incoherent voices chiming in the distance plays an active dimension in many of his tracks, as it does here with ”Before”. I’ve yet to find another artist with as thoroughly encapsulating a beat as Affelaye’s.

Trap | M!NT & Samples – Collider

Posted by on April 15, 2013

M!NT & Samples - Collider808 Trap for the win from M!NT and Ben Samples. This is what most Trap should sound like. I can’t stand listening to a song full of bleeps, bloops, and blips with the artist calling that Trap. If that is actually Trap then my phone is just as good of a producer as the rest when I get texts. This original is piece of art, massive props to Samples and M!NT.

Preview, Videos | Daft Punk tease “Get Lucky” at Coachella

Posted by on April 13, 2013

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
I know you may be getting a little tired of the Columbia Records driven Daft Punk hype / tease machine that is in full effect right now, but last night at Coachella an artist that did not even perform stole the headlines and the show. All Daft Punk had to do was tease a little more of the track first heard on SNL, bringing in contributions from Niles Rogers, Julian Casablancas of the Strokes and vocals from Pharrell to help complete the picture on this epic track. The unique robotic Daft Punk sound is so great to hear again and combined with the funky riff we have heard countless times, it is sure to be something huge. Listen for yourself and don’t forget to pre-order the album. Updated with SNL Ad clip.
