Abstract Hip-Hop | Metro Zu – Buddha Therapy
Posted by yabishcic on December 11, 2013
So I had to do some digging for this one but Grooveshark luckily had the stream embed so you all get to listen to this totally underrated but F$%^&* dope song that I feel needs some more attention. If you haven’t heard of them, Metro Zu is the epitome of underground culture. In the game for about 6 years now, the group is formed up of the intermissional art clan of RubenSlikk aka King Astro Slikk the Magnificent, Mr B the Poshstronaut, Freebase aka KingBaseRok, and Lofty 305. They are bringing about the next generation of Cyberpunk Funk and have been slowly gaining momentum. When not creating music, visual art, film, and literature frantically, the Metro Zu can usually be found macking females in abundance and causing chaotic disturbances in the universe.
Trap | Harrison Blakoldman – Nocturn
Posted by BP on December 5, 2013

Wow, isn’t this album art awesome? Anyway, “Nocturn” by Harrison Blakoldman out on Cosmonostro is a trapped out beauty. “Nocturn” stands out from a lot of the trap coming out right now. The sounds of a xylophone ring over low bassy beats. Its a lullaby with a modern twist. My favorite part is after a minute in when the sound is fuller, but it’s all really unique and interesting to listen to. Grab it for free!

That ass though, man, what a cover art for Electric Bodega’s latest trap remix of Avicii ‘s “You Make Me!” Electric Bodega is made up of Mike Cash and Emilio Sparks, whom you might know from his show on Sirius XM’s Shade 45, and in my opinion this remix is a lot more fun than the original song, and I’m not just saying that cause of the cover art. That ass though… Enjoy the view, and check out this remix, this is a must listen and must download!

Electronic, Mix | OWSLA After Dark Pt.III: The M Machine – Space Jams
Posted by J-Tiffy on September 24, 2013

I have to start by saying that I am still reeling from the Phonat mix; I still sit with mouth agape while listening to it. I am so thankful that there are labels like OWSLA – awesome music is served out on silver platters, and artists that really deserve attention are given just that. I am even more thankful for the artists – like The M Machine and Phonat – that continue to strive to be better and to be different. Robin Thicke could write a song about what these musicians do to genre definitions. With every original, every remix and every mix, The M Machine is changing the way that people think about music. These guys bring ideas to life that are nothing short of brilliant. It truly is amazing that a group of individuals can interweave their respective imaginations into such complete works of art. Their latest work is an hour long mix that aired during the OWSLA time slot on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and in classic M Machine fashion, it exceeds expectations. Forget what you know about genres and rules, and just accept this for the greatness that it is.
Dubstep | Morten – Look Closer (Candyland Remix)
Posted by BP on September 18, 2013

Since everyone and their mother has been complaining about how slow dubstep is now-a-days, here’s some proof that not all new dubstep is bad! Whenever I see Candyland doing a remix I know it’s going to be something big. Candyland’s remix of “Look Closer” by Morten has two bass-filled drops, with melodic sections of vocals in between. It’s very well produced and grabs your attention immediately. Not to mention the album art is pretty cool.

Electro | B.Dolla – Headhunter
Posted by admin on July 8, 2013
B.Dolla has always been a favorite in my books because of his “do-what-I-like” attitude. Herbie Hancock made a prolific impact on Dolla’s career and who he his musically, so he decided to take some of that passion and re-work it in to his music. Never mind that the young EDM fans of today probably don’t know the 1960s-age jazz pianist, Dolla thought, I’ll do what I want to do.
“Headhunter” is probably the exact opposite of what you’d expect out of an original track sampling Herbie Hancock. Hard hitting and trap infused, B.Dolla’s newest offering is most definitely one to be bumped at summer gatherings and a song that I can see thousands of fans wildin’ out to at a festival or two.
Last, slightly off-topic, but the album art for “Headhunter” is pretty stunning. That’s a great element to have going for you when submitting music. The art is the first thing bloggers see, and when it’s done professionally I’ll assume the music is just as professional!
Drum & Bass | Selena Gomez – Come & Get it (Dotcom Remix)
Posted by Juicebox on July 2, 2013

Plain and simple, the only thing hotter than this album art is the song itself. Up and comer, Dotcom has been on fire recently stirring quite a buzz in the dubstep community. Today he delivers a heavy drum and bass remix to Selena Gomez’s “Come & Get it” that makes it acceptable for a 23 year old man to be blasting Selena Gomez on his way to work (I may or may not do that to the original version as well).
