Now that the first weekend of Coachella is in the rearview mirror and the real world is starting to set back in, we’ve got the perfect remedy to help you ease into the week – whether you went to the festival or not. Dirtybird’s protege, Justin Jay, made his Coachella debut on Saturday, playing not one, but two, incredible sets at the Do LaB, and today, he’s giving back to his fans with a personal favorite in his arsenal, “Mind Games.” Originally produced for the dirtybird BBQ at WMC years ago, “Mind Games” is a funky house number that oozes with vibes. A couple of weeks back, Annie Mac premiered Justin Jay‘s ominous remix of Disciples’ “They Don’t Know” on her BBC Radio 1 Show. The track dives into the deep parts of house music to spawn a villainous remix full of hypnotic percussion loops and growling bass tremors. Justin Jay’s current list of ventures are impressive being only 22 years old, but if this track is any indication of what is to come in 2015, fans can expect to see major strides to be made by the Dirtybird young gun. The track will be released via Pete Tong’s FFRR Records on February 22nd.

Electronic | AWE – Crystals

After the Annie Mac BBC Radio 1 ripped version of this song was posted, fans have been anxiously waiting for the release of “Crystals” by AWE, a 19 year old producer from Los Angeles. He began working on “Crystals” eight months ago, and it is being released along side a remix of it by Djemba Djemba on Plastician’s label Terrorhythm. Most of his work has a video game influence, and I can hear that in this electronic anthem. Three minutes longer than the radio rip version, this release is mesmerizing. It’s easy to get lost in the synths and repeating melody. Check it out on Beatport and look out for more tracks this year from AWE.

DO SOMETHING

Electronic, Trap | Keys N Krates – Dum Dee Dum

Posted by on July 8, 2013

It seems the Canadian fire that is Keys N Krates has spread its way across the pond. Annie Mac posted their latest single, “Dum Dee Dum” as her part of her regular Free Music Monday series. If you’re like me, then you’ve been bumping this track just about everyday since the release of their Hard Summer mixtape back in May, but now you can treat yo’ self to the song alone.

“Dum Dee Dum” starts out strong as a pretty bold trap track, but Keys N Krates are no basic bitches. The switch up halfway thru will present you with the undeniable urge to practice your moves in front of the mirror so you can tw3rk on the dance floor at one of their many upcoming festivals appearances.  So get on it now.

Progressive House, Videos | Redlight – Lost In Your Love

Posted by on August 8, 2012

I waited a few days before posting this tremendous piece of work to see if it would get officially released in the US. Alas it has not, so do what you would have almost surely done anyway, download it. Redlight first premiered this song on Annie Mac’s show on BBC Radio One back in June and it started to get some buzz then, both only until Arty play it on the first episode of his new radio show “Together We Are” did the song really start to pick up steam and become recognized for how good it really is. With infectious vocals, a varying snare and thumping bass line, and a prominent, sublime piano melody carrying the track from one peak to the next, this is track that is a must have as we settle into the dog days of August before the fall shakes us back to reality.
