There is very little music that I have the ability to listen to while I write or do other creative work. That being said, here I sit writing this post while being whisked away to a deserted island accompanied by the stylings of Ace Shocka. The NYU student and music producer has put together a three-track EP that sounds akin to a brilliant future-wave spin on Clams Casino.
The EP could fit perfectly on a label like Soulection, and perhaps even topped by some vocals from the likes of Waldo, GoldLink, or Vic Mensa.
WAV is an exciting start for this young gun, and it’ll be exciting where he takes it from here.

Startup labels seem to be all the rage these days. Thanks to the success of independent outlets such as Soulection and Pilerats, to name a few, off-the-radar artists have hit the internet jackpot. Today’s startup spotlight goes to Rooftops Horizon, a label based out of Paris, the city of love and great music. This compilation features tracks from some of our current favorite producers such as Rusty Hook, salute, and Renz, alongside some new names, JL and Romby. Snatch this free download for some blissful listening this Monday evening. (I’ve had “Gold Rush” on repeat for an hour now)
Electro, Trap | Jacuzzi – Torture (ft. Mr. Carmack)

As I sit here writing this post, I find it very difficult to describe Jacuzzi and the genre which he has begun to take over. The newest offering “Torture” features Soulection’s own, Mr. Carmack and combines everything from trap to house. The song is a mere 1:31 seconds long, so enjoy it while you can and don’t sleep on Jacuzzi any longer than you have already.
“Torture” is included in Part 1 of the ‘Seppuku’ series, meaning that with any luck we will be hearing more from the producers, soon!
Electro, Hip-Hop, Rap | Galimatias & Joppe – One Step Back (ft. GoldLink)

After proving he could conquer a “typical” hip-hop beat, spitting atop Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Pt. 2”, GoldLink is back in his production wheelhouse with the dreamy-deephouse sounds of Galimatias and Joppe. The two Danish producers have been making music together for some time now, and luckily they connected with the Virginia native through the future production label, Soulection.
The song has already amassed an astounding twenty thousand plays in the first 24-hours, and shows no signs of slowing down! Although, “One Step Back” will not be a part of GoldLink’s upcoming project, The God Complex, it’s a very strong addition to his musical catalogue. Enjoy the free download and be on the look out for an official release date of The God Complex sometime next week.

I cannot even begin to express how much I feel everyone needs to jump on the Stwo wagon – like right now. As one of the keystone pioneers of a new realm of sound design, in addition to being a visionary of the future garage vibe, this Paris-based musician can not and will not stop throwing down quality track, after quality track. Check out his newest release, up for free download, a remix of producer Sango and vocalist SPZRKT’s chilled-out “Middle of Things.” If at any point you need a slightly funky, down-tempo track to spin on this fine, Friday night, you’ve found it.
