Hip-Hop, Reggae | Collie Buddz – I’m Paid

Posted by on February 29, 2012

Collie Buddz just happens to be one of BIGLIFE’s and my own favorite. One of the qualities Collie Buddz has is the fact that he releases most of his music for free, now why is that such an issue for all other artists? Anyways, one of the most stand out things about Collie Buddz is how original his lyrics and voice sounds on every track. No one track is the same as another, or even mimics something from another artist. This new release has a bit of a hip-hop twist to it, but Collie continues his reggae, island vibes that everyone falls in love with.

Hip-Hop, Reggae | The Holdup – The Drugs [Video]

Hailing from San Jose, FNT’s favorite reggae/rock/hip-hop hybrid group released the visuals for “The Drugs” which can be found on their LP, Still Gold, which dropped last spring.  I’ve always been a fan of their sound.  Very original, distinguished, & innovative.  This video in particular is very relatable and realistic, but the fellas do a fine job creating an impactful visualization of the song.

Pop, Reggae | Cris Cab – Echo Boom(Mixtape)

Posted by on January 31, 2012

After his releases, I expected nothing but a great mixtape from Cris Cab, but man did he go above and beyond my expectations. Cris’ sound is so unique and refreshing from other music today. Receiving help on production from Pharell, 88keys, and other notable producers, Cris provides us with soulful and reggae inspired songs and phenomenal vocals. Cris Cab definitely has what the tools to make it big, especially when he’s got help from Pharell, so expect to hear a lot more from Cris.

Dubstep, Reggae | Cris Cab – Rihanna’s Gun (Ft. Mavado & Wyclef)

Posted by on January 29, 2012

Damn! Now this was completely unexpected. Off of Cris Cab’s upcoming mixtape, Echo Boom, is this bumping dubstep/reggae track featuring Mavado and Wyclef. Cris Cab created one hell of a beat for these two reggae giants to go off over. For me, Mavado’s vocals really hold this track together, Wyclef just seems like he needed some presidential cash…haha, almost forgot he actually had a run for presidency in Haiti. Cris Cab’s Echo Boom Mixtape drops this Tuesday, January 31st.

Reggae | Collie Buddz – I Feel So Good

Posted by on December 15, 2011

I am really enjoying the fact that Collie Buddz dropped this track the same day I am leaving for Mexico. Collie Buddz is a favorite of BIGLIFE’s and mine, his Bermudian accent adds a different flavor to the reggae/dancehall that he comes up with. This new track of his is just another feel good island reggae track, if you didn’t get that from the title.

Indie, Pop, Reggae | Radical Something – Sun Down [Music Video]

In lieu of the holiday season starting, Radical Something drops a unifying jam that is really driven by a strong hook by Josh Cocktail.  Loggy doesn’t disappoint with his vibrant vocals as usual along with great production by Big Red.  This track is not connected to any project in particular, just something to hold you over until your thanksgiving feast.
