Vonny del Fresco is fresh off the release of his After the Fall EP and decided to keep his fans on their toes with a short burst of music. “Studies” is a minute long freestyle/video that oozes energy and takes you on an robotic-sounding ride. The song was originally produced by Mr. Carmack, a name that is becoming increasingly popular in hip-hop production, and del Fresco decided to give the new-school production wave a spin with some sharp rhymes penetrating the already complex instrumental.

Those of you who watched the Grammy’s last night likely have an opinion, one way or the other, on the Best Rap Album of 2013 award. I have endless amounts of respect for both K.Dot and Mack & RL. Both deserved multiple Grammy’s for their performance in 2013 and the fact that Kendrick came out with a donut is disappointing for hip-hop. You may ask how this is relevant to the new track VMG dropped today- valid question. Music has evolved over the years. There are more sub-genre’s in 2014 than ever before. Artists are experimenting with different sounds, fusing different genre’s, and new sub-genre’s are being born. The artists representing Visionary are a prime example of this.
Although these artists often experiment to create new sounds, you can’t help but love a raw, bar dropping freestyle cypher. Last week Logic celebrated his 24th birthday with a few friends. Those friends just so happened to be label mates Jon Bellion, QuESt, ©. Castro, & producer 6ix. The celebrating just so happened to take place in the studio. After landing one of the last spots in this years XXL Freshman Top 10, Maryland hot spitter Logic drops off his newest single off his highly anticipated mixtape, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever. It’s been a glorious few weeks for Logic fans. Showers of new content. After wrapping up his first European tour Logic x GRVTY presented the newest episode of Just Another Day: Europe, we saw Logic’s XXL Freshman solo feature, the face of Visionary Music Group announced he had signed a major deal with Def Jam Recordings (empowered to still make the music he wants to make), he obliterates one of Outkast’s most legendary records (paying respect to the legends) on his new single “Roll Call”, and most recently shares his studio session at Tim Westwood’s crib in London where he takes lyricism to a new level. In a nutshell, Logic’s non-stop grind is steadily spilling out of the studio into the ears of his fans. With his forthcoming mixtape, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever, dropping on May 7, Logic is about two months away from being “THAT DUDE” in hip-hop.
Oh, I forgot to mention he also announced another nationwide tour beginning this May. Grab your tickets before they sell out.

Another Wednesday morning, another Timeflies Tuesday. No knock to the boys, they’ve been hella busy these last couple of months. But of course, they still have time to drop an awesome video every Tuesday. When I saw the first Timeflies Tuesday two summers ago, I immediately knew that it would quickly become a YouTube staple. This weeks video is one of the classics of Cal freestyling. Rez whips up a quick Skyfall beat, and puts a little pitch bend on Adele’s beautiful James Bond theme. I will never not be impressed by Cal’s ability to think on his feet and come up with sick rhymes while pulling them out of some sort of container. When I first saw the “Carry on my Wayward Son” video, I was in awe. Nothing has changed.
