Trap, Videos | Keys N Krates – Treat Me Right

I first stumbled upon Keys N Krates at a showcase during SXSW a few months back. As soon as this Toronto-based trio hit the stage that night, I was captivated by their dynamic. These guys have a certain sound and stage presence that’s hard for me to describe, but looking around the room I started to notice that everyone else had the same blank stare on their faces, which soon turned into a unified head nod to the beat. Their sound was so fresh and flow so seamless that before we knew it, the set was over and the crowd rushed the stage begging for more. It was a small crowd, but one of the most enthusiastic, I remember that.
Anyways, this track was one of the most memorable and it’s hard not to catch yourself bouncing along it. I love the thematic transition in tune with the song, along with how in the end, the femme-fatale turned deviant heroine prevails, muahaha!
Smacks these guys right in the middle of your radar, stat.

This remix blew me away. Cashmere Cat did an incredible job because the fact is, this is straight sex. I mean the original is some fine R&B, but this takes things to the next level and then the bedroom.
Trap | James Blake – Overgrown (Infuze Remix)

James Blake is a huge hater of Dubstep, I can only imagine what he thinks of Trap. None the less, Infuze is an animal for this remix, it is absolutely gorgeous. I love the progression Infuze used, it is not something you usually experience when listening to Trap. The placement of James Blake’s vocals is flawless on this beat, Infuze you are a trap master.

808 Trap for the win from M!NT and Ben Samples. This is what most Trap should sound like. I can’t stand listening to a song full of bleeps, bloops, and blips with the artist calling that Trap. If that is actually Trap then my phone is just as good of a producer as the rest when I get texts. This original is piece of art, massive props to Samples and M!NT.

While the world is getting progressively wetter for Krewella as “Alive” takes over the airwaves and TV, they have not forgotten about the fans and have released the remix package for their single “Come and Get It” for free. The remix package brings in established names like Savoy, while taking contributions from newcomers like German producer Kairo Kingdom to showcase talent from all across the spectrum, much like the “Play Harder” remix EP. Moving accross a wide variety of styles and sounds, each of the remixes make sure to let the vocals from Krewella shine and then add their own flavor to it. Whether it is the trapped out DMNDZ and Savoy remixes, an interesting and successful direction to see them go, or the heavier Kairo Kingdom or Razihel remixes, this remix package has something for everyone.

Trap isn’t exactly something I get excited over, and it tends to lowers my expectations for what I am about to listen to. Obviously I still decided to give this new original a listen, and I am really glad I did. I love how this track has a real dance vibe and not just some lame repetitious beat to start twerking your face off to. Trap is still hard for me to swallow, but this is something I can see myself enjoying on a daily basis. Mad props to Paper Diamond, Christian Rich, and Angela McCluskey for this dope original. Paper Diamond’s upcoming EP “Paragon” drops April 16th.
