Preview, Trance | Wach Pres. Oussama Mlaouhia – Tunisia (Original Mix)

Posted by on May 24, 2012

Hold the phone. Who tuned into ASOT today? I did, and Armin just dropped the below track as this week’s Future Favorite, and it pretty much blew my mind. Who is Wach, you ask? Great question. His SoundCloud reveals that he’s an up-and-coming 17 year-old producer (real name: Oussama Mlaouhia) from TUNISIA, of all unlikely but amazing places (hence the title, I guess) who is just breaking into the game but clearly has prodigious talent. Awesome. Simply awesome. This track is the definition of top quality trance; it boasts a driving beat, some riveting and intense breakdowns, and a stirring melody that will give you chills. In fact, it’s precisely the kind of thing you’d expect to hear heavy hitters like Gareth Emery, Markus Schulz, Jochen Miller and of course Armin himself drop into their live sets. “Tunisia” will officially be released on Blue Soho Recordings in the near future, but for now you can download the ASOT rip for free below.

Progressive House, Trance | Introducing : Moiez

Posted by on May 22, 2012

It is really rare that I get a submission that makes me sit back in my chair and say “wow” and 19 year old Vancouver native Moiez Babar or Moiez did just that. With a combination of uplfiting trance and moving progressive tracks, Moiez is an artist that will we will be keeping an eye on. Judging by the soundcloud plays, this is a true introduction to the world for Moiez and his deftly crafted productions, though he has had some exposure in Canada. The two originals really stood out to me with “Sparks” being more along the lines of progressive house track and “Kismet” being more of a progressive trance track. They were both submitted to Tristan Garner’s Xtra Life contest, so if you read this Mr. garner pick Moiez.

“Spark” provides thoughtful vocals with a smooth build that cascades into a break of thumping bass, vocals, and synth chords creating a hands in the air melody. “Kismet” is more trancey with a quicker trance oriented bass line, soft, thoughtful interludes, quick key play with long synth chords and a driving bass line in the drop. The remixes are not to overlooked as well. Though Axwell & Henrik B will always remain kings for their remode on “Teenage Crime”, Moiez delivers a solid take on it. “Flashback” keeps much of the original melody, though he distorts it some to create a more fluid synth melody, while utilizing those very recognizable vocals. “Till Tonight” may be the best one, though it takes a while to reach the break. Also included is a teaser of his “Let’s Go” remix, which is being featured in the Beatport contest. If you like what you hear there, follow the link below and listen to the whole thing on the Beatport page and vote for it there. Check out his soundcloud for more tracks that range from trance to dubstep. Some of the tracks mentioned included after the jump.

DJ-Set, Events, Progressive House, Trance | Mat Zo feat. Linnea Schossow – The Sky + Fun Bus Mix

Posted by on May 16, 2012

The eclectic Mat Zo has provided the world with a single to follow up his potent Bipolar EP. Mat Zo or MRSA or MRZO, his Drum N Bass monikers, is known for pushing the boundaries of genre or totally ignoring them, making music that incorporates many different types of sounds and rhythms into one track. To really stand out now a days you not only have to be able to have your own unique sound, but also be able to have many different sounds and Mat Zo has done that. “The Sky” uses angelic vocals from Linnea Schossow, a moving bass line, emotive synth melodies and adept key play culminate in a hands in air break. Anjunabeats and Mat Zo have done it again.

Albums, Review, Trance | Dash Berlin – #musicislife

Posted by on April 27, 2012

#musicislife, what I hope to be one of the most used hash-tags today. At the moment I am writing this it is Thursday still and I am only 3 tracks in and my mind is completely blown. Dash Berlin is a legend when it comes to vocal Progressive Trance. Armada music must be celebrating this albums success already and it’s not even released yet.

Now this where I have finished listening to this album. I am completely speechless, this was one of the most incredible albums I have listened to in a long time. It is insulting for me to have any favorites from this, each track is amazing on its own. If I was held at gun point my top 5 would be ‘Better Half Of Me,’ ‘Silence In Your Heart,’ ‘Go It Alone,’ ‘Like Plates Spinning,’ and ‘Fool For Life.’ The 5 tracks cut me deep, the emotions of them are almost overwhelming which is why I chose them. To give a run down on all the different vocalists featured on this album would take ages. With that said though, it is incredible how many different great female and male vocalists were featured on this. Including the amount of artists that Dash collaborated with. From now on when people ask me for good Trance, I will just tell them to listen to this entire album.

DJ-Set, Trance | W&W – Shotgun

Posted by on April 13, 2012

W&W were able to release single “Shotgun” on Tuesday after a few delays with Beatport (how surprising) and it is a massive track. With the new FNT 2.0 it has been rare for me to post trance tracks so you know this one is really good. This track is hard hitting from the first drop of short choppy bursts of bass and distorted synth to the last drop with the same progression except with big room synths. The build in between sets the stage for the massive drops in the latter part of the track.
Below is their set from ASOT550 in Den Bosch on March 31st, which in my opinion as someone in attendance was the best one there; even with that stacked line-up. Their set had an incredible amount of energy from the first second to the last and they were having a blast up on stage. The amount of unreleased tracks played was a bit absurd and shows the future they have ahead of them. Tracklist after the jump.

Trance, Videos | Dash Berlin ft. Sarah Howells – Go It Alone (Official Music Video)

Posted by on April 10, 2012

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMepLfEJu6w

This is an incredible new single off of Dash Berlin’s upcoming second album, ‘#musicislife,’ set to release April 27th. I love Trance, but it is hard for me to get into vocal Trance tracks. That just isn’t the case with this track. Sarah Howells voice is incredible, her cover of Dash Berlin’s work is flawlessly beautiful. Dash Berlin has been called the King of Vocal Trance, this track is a perfect example why.

Albums, Contests, Trance | Paul van Dyk – Evolution + Giveaway

Posted by on April 3, 2012

Paul van Dyk has finally released his 6th artist album “Evolution” and it does not disappoint. The wait has been excruciating for his fans after years of working on this album and countless release date delays (I went to an “Evolution World Tour” show in July last year). This album has something for everyone, from the long time trance heads, to even those who ignore everything that has to do with trance. The album crosses genre flawlessly from one song to the next with progressive anthems, some heavier tracks and of course plenty of that signature trance style from Paul van Dyk that made him the number one Dj in the world. Check out the album below and hit read on for a more in depth look at the album and the signed album & poster giveaway winner announcement (You have another 36 hours to claim your prize).
