Electro | Elephunk drops hot new single “the alchemist”
Posted by VMan on May 1, 2017
Up and coming LA based producer Elephunk dropped his latest single today on the Bodhi collective and it’s worth getting excited about. I recently discovered Elephunk’s music and I’m glad that I did, his newest single “The Alchemist” is a harder bass driven tune that has a throw back Porter Robinson feel to it with an addicting synth that flows over top. Hopefully we will get to hear this played out through this summers festivals. Make sure to grab the free download here.
Remix, Trap | Venessa Michaels Takes On Kendrick Lamar With “Humble” Remix
Posted by VMan on April 25, 2017
The King Kendrick Lamar is one of music’s biggest icons. His new album and specifically the single “Humble” are larger than life. It takes a special producer to try and take on remixing such a project, but that’s just what the talented VenessaMichaels did. Her iconic sound has her regarded as one of the best producers doing their own thing. Her “Humble” remix exemplifies this sound, a mix of hip-hop/trap with just enough jersey club vibes to get the party going strong. Not only does she deliver a top quality remix, but she released it for free for her fans and DJs to enjoy, who surely will play this one out during the many upcoming festivals.

Trance | Submersive Drops 2-Track Trance Release “Rock Bottom”
Posted by VMan on April 24, 2017
2 months after releasing trance-influenced tracks “Ready” and “The Ritual”, Submersive just dropped yet another track, this time with a completely different vibe from the other 2. If “The Ritual” was cold and heavy, then “Rock Bottom” is the perfect romantic, uplifting and colorful track, fitting for the season we are in. Following the original vocal track is a heavy trance “Aphotic” mix. With 200k Soundcloud plays over and done with, this up and coming LA-based artist is the name to know.
Submersive picked up his first drums sticks at the age of 10, he probably did not know they would change his life forever. That was the beginning of the music career, leading to a DJ event at age 13 and moments of achievement thereafter. More recently, he has been focusing on trance, “the goal of my music is to give people a transcendent experience in a musical environment. Trance is the continuation of what the earliest humans discovered: the connection between music and soul, and that’s what I aim to accomplish with every one of my songs.”
Bass, Trap | LO-Def Follows Up Dim Mak Remix With “It’s On”
Posted by VMan on April 15, 2017
Based in Garden Grove, you may have seen LO-DEF around on the internet via his official Dim Mak remix of “Devil’s Lettuce” by Bro Safari and ETC!ETC!. He’s now returned with his first single of the year, an original called “It’s On.” The release has all the makings that listeners got a taste of in the Dim Mak remix, but with a fresh core elements newly introduced.
The core of “It’s On” is certainly it’s hard, trap and bass feel. Pulsating, rhythmic percussion layer on top of dark, almost-spooky vibes found within this track that would undoubtably go off in the club. Gaining traction and getting noticed as an artist is, in part, about locking down credible achievements – Lo-Def is skipping ahead of his colleagues via strong productions, partnering with notable labels, and on-point branding.

Trap | Ouza’s “Drag You Down” Massive 2nd Release From New Label Superdead
Posted by VMan on April 6, 2017
Superdead is a new label that is only 2 releases deep, but are already showing promise in all the right areas. Underrated DJ/producer Ouza slayed the Super Dead 002 spot, featuring a clean bass tune that has huge juxtaposition.
The intro and bridge are chill and trippy, but fitting for a forward-thinking bass track, The drop blows the mind with it’s loud, overpowering, wall-of-sound feel. The second drop takes the direction a step further, mixing up the drum patterns to make the heavy sound of “Drag You Down” even heavier.
Superdead does their label model a bit differently, check out their website to see merch, exclusives, and more.
Trap | Whipped Cream & Hekler’s “Mirrors” EP A Breath Of Fresh Air
Posted by VMan on April 6, 2017
Bass music has a tendency to have a lot of saturation of similar sounds, the genre – somewhat – has barriers that makes a bass song a “bass song,” which can come off as restricting and create more saturation of similar sounds. Enter Whipped Cream and Hekler, who seem to not only put the elements that make a great bass song in an order that feels new, but also showcase a plethora of suprsing sounds within the experience of Mirrors EP.
The 5 track EP takes us on a ride that has softer, nostalgic feeling sounds, unbelievably heavy banger moments, and everything in-between, while keeping a trap and bass feel on each track across the board. This was more than an EP, this was a journey.
