Compilation, Electronic | Rooftops Horizon Compilation Vol. 1

Posted by on July 28, 2014

Startup labels seem to be all the rage these days. Thanks to the success of independent outlets such as Soulection and Pilerats, to name a few, off-the-radar artists have hit the internet jackpot. Today’s startup spotlight goes to Rooftops Horizon, a label based out of Paris, the city of love and great music. This compilation features tracks from some of our current favorite producers such as Rusty Hook, salute, and Renz, alongside some new names, JL and Romby. Snatch this free download for some blissful listening this Monday evening. (I’ve had “Gold Rush” on repeat for an hour now)

Chill, Compilation, Mix | WhitneyAbstraKt – A Night With Leyla

Posted by on July 5, 2014

Curation is key. It is this fact alone that has allowed music streaming services such as Songza and Beats to be purchased for millions and millions of dollars this past year. And, it is this fact that keeps talented curators in the front of our minds and ears.

In the wake of endless singles, one-off radio hits, and all-around clutter in music it is nice to know that there are those out there that will spend tireless hours of their own time to bring a collection of the best music to your ears. Today, this glorious mix of tunes is brought to us by WhitneyAbstraKt in conjunction with Artistic Manifesto.

The mix is self-described as follows: “It’s a mild spring evening, the wind is gently blowing through her hair, and you’re out enjoying a night on the town. You have one thing in mind, but the night carries you in an entirely different direction. Before you know it, dawn has arrived and you realize that the entire night has been one hazy, disorienting, pleasurable blur. You just experienced “A Night With Leyla.” This is your soundtrack.”

Enjoy the eclectic musical stylings, and have a great Saturday night to accompany it.

Compilation, Electro, Hip-Hop | Anti-Valentine’s Everything (Playlist)

Posted by on February 15, 2014

So, it’s Saturday night the day after your inevitable Valentine’s Day let-down. You lie in bed thinking to yourself “why do I suck at this whole romance thing?” When in actuality, the real schmucks are those who buy in to the V-Day celebrations and end up spending ridiculous amounts of money on flowers and chocolate.

I encourage all of you to toss on this “Anti-Valentine’s Everything” mix, brought to you by We Like Peach Rings and just vibe out for the night, knowing in your heart you are the true winner of this weekend.

Some featured artists are Dodge & Fuski, Barely Alive, Bear Grillz, Subvibe, Fractal, T-Mass, and more. The compilation can be downloaded for free on Facebook, or downloaded for $9.99 on Bandcamp. All of the proceeds go to support autism research at the Organization for Autism Research. The tracks range multiple genres, but all bring the bass. I’ve posted just a few songs below. Compilation, Featured, House | Top 50 Dance Tracks Of 2013 (Including 50-41)

Top 50 dance tracks of 2013

Yes we know, you may be “top _____ of 2013” listed out, but bear with us as we present you our top 50 dance tracks of 2013. In the past we have done just big room / progressive, but here we attempt to take on the whole genre, from trap to progressive to deep house. A few ground rules and biases for how these tracks were selected. “Top” means biggest and best. So the most supported and played out tracks, first and foremost, but also our own bias as well to make this list not just a carbon copy of every other one you have read. All of us are based in the US / Canada, so our perception of what is played live is a largely US worldview, though we try and take a step back. The songs have to have been released in 2013. So tracks like “Easy”, “I Could Be The One”, “Alive”, “Clarity” and “Harlem Shake”, while all huge in 2013, won’t qualify for the list because they were released in 2012. Tough luck, but I think the artists will manage. Check out 50-41 after the jump and at the end find links for 40-31, 30-21, 20-11 and the best of the best, 10-1.

Want in on a little secret that I hardly ever get around to sharing? Easiest way to find some new slappers is to go through a music mix, my favorite being Soulection Radio’s Show they do pretty often featuring new Artist’s and new songs on the regular. I haven’t taken the chance to listen to the whole thing yet but I’ve gotten pretty deep in and this definitely is a great one to start off with. So go on and take a listen, I PROMISE you’ll find something you will like.

Don’t know the name of the song playing? They have the whole playlist in the info section of the song on SoundCloud.
