House, Mainstream Remix | Calvin Harris ft. Ne-Yo – Let’s Go (FareOh Remix)

Posted by on May 31, 2012

Here at Fresh New Tracks, we’re all about posting the up and coming artists from a variety of genres. Despite having only 10k Facebook fans, I’m not sure if we can call FareOh “up and coming.” Not only is he signed with WME, but he’s also currently on Kaskade’s Freaks of Nature Tour as the main opener. If you haven’t heard of FareOh, now’s your chance.

House, Videos | Madeon – Finale (Teaser)

Posted by on May 31, 2012

Wow just wow. Having just turned 18 yesterday (get after it ladies), Madeon has released a teaser for an upcoming single “Finale”. We previously reported that he was to be releasing an EP and that is wrong as Madeon himself said he was just going to stick to releasing singles. Madeon is a producer who refues to release tracks too early, believing in the axiom of “quality over quantity”, something I deeply appreciate, taking his time with each of his tracks and makes sure they are perfect or better before releasing them to the public. I first heard this back in February in Toulouse and I simply did not know how to process what I was hearing. With “Icarus” and his remix of Matin Solveig’s “The Night Out” under his belt in 2012, “Finale” will be a massive addition to small but important catalog this year. Words cannot really describe the track, so just hit play and let the sounds of Madeon caress your soul.

Mashups | DOSVEC – Charleston

Posted by on May 31, 2012

Newest banger from DOSVEC, this time he decided to take a different turn with the vocals of this mashup. With the release of Avicii’s celebration of 2 million Facebook likes, DOSVEC blended it with Hardwell’s ‘Sapceman,’ delivering a dance floor blow. The vocals are the icing on this delicious cake, providing a party for even your friends not familiar with either of the instrumentals.

Exclusive, Featured, Interviews, Progressive House, Trance | Mat Zo Interview + Exclusive Superman Download

Posted by on May 31, 2012

When you see a new Mat Zo track, you really have no idea what blissful sounds are going to be cascading into your ears the moment you hit play. You know it will be a superb production from beginning to end and a feeling of joy will linger long after the last note has dissipated into the space around you. He could send you into a primal frenzy with tracks such as “Mozart”, “Rebound” or “It’s Yours” or sooth your soul into a trance with “The Lost”, “Near The End” or my favorite mashup ever “Satellite Dynamics” using the Arty’s remix of his “Synapse Dynamics” and Ocean Lab “Satellite”. Then there are those you cannot really pin down Like “Bipolar”, “Frequency Flyer”, “Superman” (which we have an exclusive free download for you guys) or Tate & Diamond Feat Nicolai (Electrified (Mat Zo Electrofied Dub).

Mat Zo is a known quantity in EDM having been releasing tracks since the young age of 16 and at 17 was tabbed by Tiesto to remix “Driving To Heaven” on the 7th edition of his peerless compilation album “In Search of Sunrise”. Since then, Mat Zo has been steadily growing in fame and as a producer, with releases on Markus Schulz’s Coldharbor Recordings, AVA Records, and most importantly, Anjunabeats. He also has a drum n’ bass moniker MRSA that was quite active on Hospital Records from 2008-2010, but has since gone into a sort of hibernation. This shows the eclectic nature of Mat Zo and how easily he can make any sort of music. I do not want to bore you before the interview so make sure to catch him on the “Language Tour” with Porter Robinson & The M Machine this summer coming to a city near you. Also his latest single “The Sky” has been widely supported and is a great track, so be sure to get that and like him on Facebook and follow him on twitter. Last but VERY much not least we have an exclusive download of his hit single “Superman”, so do not hesitate to download it if you do not already have it.

1. FNT: “This whole genres business is like the Berlin wall, and I’m there with a forklift and a wrecking ball” Mat Zo, September 2011. What is your creative process ie do you start with melodies first and work from there and how do you build your sound in each song. How do you decide what to put in your sets because they include music from a variety of genres?

Mat Zo: I always start with the main idea/theme then build around that. When I choose music to play out all I’m really looking for is something that will move a crowd. Genres don’t really play a role in that.

2. FNT: You started as a guitar player at 8 years old and your mom was a professional violinist. How did this influence you to move towards music and how did you shift towards dance music?

Mat Zo: I started liking dance music at an early age so it grew with me as much as coming from a musical family did.

3. FNT: Your half sister Alma Zohar is a successful singer. Who gets more praise from your parents when you guys are all together and who would you say is more talented?

Mat Zo: Haha! She is definitely a better lyricist.

Compilation, House, Review | Axtone Presents Thomas Gold

Posted by on May 31, 2012

Axtone not to be outdone by other labels put Thomas Gold to the task of putting together their 2012 compilation filled with Thomas Gold’s impressive discography, most of the releases this year on Axtone and a few other hand picked tracks from Thomas Gold. The 33 song album illustrates the sound and skill of Thomas Gold. Thomas Gold showcases one of his strong suits as a bootleg specialist in this compilation with the plethora of new and unreleased bootlegs in this superbly mixed compilation.

The first disc aptly starts with a new Thomas Gold track “The Beginning” with powerful synth chords, a soft piano melody and a driving bass line. The album then moves through tracks such as the still relevant Hard Rock Sofa – Quasar, Thomas Gold’s 2012 Rework of “Teenage Crime”, a solid rework but Axwell & Henrik B have still yet to be dethroned and a bootleg of “Sing2Me” with Red Carpet – Alright, giving some vocals to his anthem. He picks out Axtone & other major label tracks like “Resurrection”, “Eyes Wide Open“, “Troll“, as well as some of his own remixes and reworks such as “Set Fire to The Rain” (one of the most downloaded tracks in FNT history), and his 2011 rework of “Marsch Marsch” to fill in much of the rest of the first album. The first disc finishes off as it started with another new Thomas Gold original “Fanfare” with its complex bass lines and rhythmic patterns with matching synth chords, bookending this great start to the compilation.

Disc two starts us off with a special intro edit of his 2011 summer anthem “Alive” with Aussie superstar “Dirty South”. It then moves on to an update of one of his first big singles “AGORa” with the vocals from Axwell’s “I Found You”. The second disc is where we really get into the new Thomas Gold remixes and reworks, so be ready to be bombarded by new sounds from Thomas Gold. He then gives us his rework of Sander van Doorn’s anthem “Koko” adding the flavor of the day adding a strong clap to the bass line with changes to the mix and the rhythm, while keeping that instantaneously recognizable melody. We then move through his remix of “Judas”, an unsung remix of 2011 and another unreleased bootleg of his with John Dahlback – Blink and Hard Rock Sofa – Blow Up (Thomas Gold & Axwell Remix). The next original track appears next in the form of “Circles”, a subtle, uplifting piano driven progressive house track. We then get into favorites of the last few months with tracks like “Million Voices“, “In My Mind“, and his important remix of “The Wave” with a new rework of Digitalism – Zdarlight included as well. He finished off the compilation with a few of his older, more low tempo, techy tracks that bring you down after the all energy spent listening to the massive 33 track Axtone compilation.

Per usual Axtone and Thomas Gold exceed expectations. Axtone has been releasing some of the best tracks of the year and Thomas Gold has been improving with each release. This partnership on the compilation is perfect and it shows in the mixing and the tracklist. Tracklist is after the jump and also check out the little competition below where you guess the mashup put together by Thomas Gold for the chance to win a lot of prizes. It is quite easy though if you are really challenged the answer is after the jump.
