Be weary folks, I am in fact posting a mixtape by two 16 year old rappers. I know that’s an immediate turn off for most of you, and I respect that, but if you can, lend your ears to the two youngesters not legally allowed to buy a pack of cigarettes from 7/11. The duo of No Trace has released their sophomore effort, which is perfect because they are also sophomores in high school. Now when you listen through this tape, which I would reccomend, be aware that some of their music might hit you as a tad immature or boyish, but that’s because they’re just that. Forget the lack of beautiful album artwork and other aesthetics and just listen to the raw talent of these kids. These two 16 year olds are setting themselves up for a rap career, the potential is there, and they will likely be cashing in on it in the years to come. So grab the mixtape below and be on the lookout for these two making moves.

We here at Fresh New Tracks are excited to bring you the newest mix from none other than, DJ Smiles! The disc jockey best known for his worldwide touring with reggae-duo, Aer, has decided to liven up your summer with this epic forty-five minute mix guaranteed to get you hyped!

DJ Smiles released The State of the Come-Up this past January, featuring some of the hottest rising rappers in the game, and while we anxiously await the next volume of the series, Smiles tides us over with “Twerk Trap”. If I told you that the likes of Tyga, Trinidad Jame$, Young Jeezy, and Lil Mama, were featured on the mix, you’d probably drop what you were doing and start twerking on spot — so I won’t tell you that. But, what I will tell you is that this song-collage is well worth the near-hour you’ll be investing into it.

All of you readers are the first to listen DJ Smiles’ mix, so feel lucky, and spread the love by dropping him a comment over on Soundcloud!

Hip-Hop | J. Cole — Crooked Smile (feat. TLC)

Posted by on June 3, 2013

J.Cole-Crooked-SmileThis is the one I’ve been eagerly anticipating, and boy was that with good reason. After dropping a b-side, “Niggaz Know”, over the weekend, Cole lets go of the second single, featuring none other than the two remaining members of TLC. In a message about the song Cole said that he’s kept his features on Born Sinner extremely limited, just getting singers (there are no rap features) to do what he loves them for—which is exactly what you get with TLC’s presence on this track. I said it before, and I’ll say it again, Cole just might out-do Kanye with this one. Not in regards to sales, obviously—but as far as content, this is sounding way more like Kanye’s College Dropout than anything I’ve heard since. Cole has that honesty and ability to articulate everyman struggles in a way that not too many rappers have mastered since young ‘Ye. It remains to be seen, but do yourself a favor and get this track while you wait.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Marc Goone – I Am Not a Lobster Ok (Album)

Posted by on May 14, 2013

J100

Fresh New Tracks has always supported Marc Goone. I think he has the talent, and personality, to go a long way in the music industry. His latest tape, does nothing but raises by already high regard for him. Every song is unique, and his cadence and voice are something copycat rappers should strive for. His beat selection, often courtesy of Zuxwitit and Judge, is constantly changing and adapting to his ever improving and ever changing rap style. If you find me another rapper with the same style as Marc Goone, I’ll send you to the A&R’s at Def Jam, because that’s who you should be working for. Even if Marc isn’t your cup of tea, you would have to agree that he is unique, and that’s one thing I look for in the over-satured game of internet rappers. Royal’s refix executes fresh tactics over ”Blessed’ with bass driven choruses backed by angelic voices buried in the reverb. All this results in a favorable new sound for the lyrical savy rappers to be heard in.

Hip-Hop | Jae Millz – Barstool Flow (Prod. By Harry Fraud)

Jae Millz - Barstool Flow (Prod. By Harry Fraud) *Yazz Flute*Harry Fraud is starting to become one of my favorite Hip-Hop producers. He provided one of the sexiest jazz flutes on this, why hasn’t this been done before? Jae Millz seriously just runs on this track. He may not be one of the fastest rappers, but this is a real “Barstool Flow.” If you are working on playlist for this Saturday, I highly recommend adding this dime.
