Progressive House | Ferry Corsten – Rock Your Body Rock (Arty / Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remixes)
Posted by Middy on March 27, 2013
In celebration of its 100th release, Ferry Corsten’s Flashover Recordings has tagged hot and in-demand producers to remix his 2003 classic “Rock Your Body Rock” – fittingly on the track’s 10 year anniversary. Arty brings back his “Rock N Rolla” styled remix, with the kind of vibes he put to use on his remix of Ferry Corsten’s “Punk” to great effect (and which was a launching point for his career). This remix features the similar hard snares and kicks as “Punk,” adding Arty’s own flavor to the track and carrying the timeless sound of the original to now. The “MainStage” mix from Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike has been the version that Ferry himself has played most lately, giving the track a modern day festival energy thanks to a tantalizing build and a hard-driving minimal drop that totally flips the script on the original. They both take very different approaches and have their own unique strengths, so take a listen and decide for yourself.

Abstract Hip-Hop, Chill | Bedroom Beats #1

FREE DOWNLOAD: Mosch – Coelho (Simp Remix)
Above is a cool visual that is mixed well into the remix by Simp. Watching it makes me wonder… if we lived in a dimension where time was set to 18,000fps, would we even know the difference? haha, trippy. Anyways, ’til this day I’m still constantly jaded by having a musical taste that revolves solely around simplified beats that are no greater than hip-hop instrumentals. Twisted vocal samples, mingled with subtle sonic arrangements that aren’t so repetitive is all I need. That said, let’s hear some.
A superb new track from Affelaye, previously known as Joe Martin. All I know is that his productions are by far some of the cleanest, well put together beats I’ve heard. Listen below.

Electro-House | Bassjackers & Dyro – Grid
Posted by Middy on February 18, 2013
Producer / Dj duo Bassjackers have teamed up with hot in demand Revealed Records producer, Dyro, fresh off of his Canadian bus tour with Hardwell & Dannic on “Grid”. This melodic yet uptempo and grungy electro track is a unique melding of both big room and electro house that relies on the quick key play and a complex low end. “Grid” combines styles from both producers and gives us something in both of their discographies, where Dyro’s sound is something he can hang his hat on, but has become a little repetitive of late and Bassjackers has not had a really big single like this one in a while. Already supported by your pick of the top Djs, expect to hear this often over the next few months.

Chill, Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB | KYLE – Keep It Real (Official Video)
Posted by J_Salzer on February 15, 2013
A video that I’ve had to keep on the DL for about a month now, Keep It Real, has finally dropped. I’ve been itching to share it with you all, but on the orders of Kyle’s camp, I had to wait till Valentine’s Day. Although it isn’t really a Valentine’s Day song(and it’s not really Valentine’s Day), it’s still pretty freaking awesome. Kyle has a knack for catchy hooks, and always finds the right producers to sculpt the feel that he creates with his lyrics, on this song, the infamous DJ Carnage. I see too many people posting and calling him a “wannabe Drake,” which I disagree strongly. It seems ridiculous that people see a rapper using a certain style, in this case, rapping and singing, and then call everyone else who uses that style, a wannabe. Now that you’re most likely annoyed and pissed off at me for that rant, check out the video above and buy the song on iTunes here.
Progressive House | Dirty South & Deniz Koyu – Halo
Posted by Middy on February 5, 2013
Ahead of the March 5th release of his debut album “Speed Of Life”, Dirty South drops off this heavenly collab with Deniz Koyu “Halo”. It has all the hallmarks of a track from the late 2000s with an updated twist. “Halo” combines an old school groove with emotive strings, a quick alternating bass line and anthemic synth chords that bring this track to the festival stage and make it a must have for WMC. With these two incredibly innovative producers on one track, you would have to expect greatness and they delivered with this angelic track that keeps your attention from start to finish.

Electronic, Hip-Hop | Fela Kuti – Water No Get Enemy (Majestry Remix)
Posted by Mach on January 21, 2013
This is a first, I had no idea anyone else knew who Fela Kuti was. For those that didn’t know, he is probably one of the coolest producers from the 1980s. He started 8 record labels which include MCA (which is now Universal) and JVC, was one of the top Civil Rights activists of the 1970s, and he is the pioneer of Afrobeat music. Afrobeat is a blend of Jazz and Soul, which lead to the eventual creation of Hip-Hop. Majestry picked a classic of his to remix and came through with this incredible future-beat, Hip-Hop instrumental. This remix is a must have.

Lord have mercy. One of the best young innovators of Trap linking up with one of the legendary producers of Hip-Hop? You don’t have to tell me twice. This Jay-Z sampled “trap-hop” is the best of both worlds. Press play and set to repeat. Happy Friday.
