Pop | Timeflies Drop ‘Just For Fun’ Album
Posted by Grubeats on September 24, 2015
Fresh off the release of their major label LP, Just For Fun, Timeflies have some fun on a private jet and remix their lead single, “Worst Things Than Love”. Deservingly so, Cal and Rez pop bottles while they travel from city to city on their fall tour. I mean, how can you blame the guys when they debuted with a top 10 album and remain in the top 30 on iTunes? Packed with hits, jams, and mellowed out vibe tunes, the fellas collect features from pop stars Natalie La Rose & X-Factor Star, Carly Rose Sonenclar but it’s really the in house talent that shines on this project.

Hip-Hop, Indie, Pop, Videos | Nick Luebke – End of the Road
Posted by LoffyG on March 6, 2013
When it comes to Nick Luebke there is no doubt this past year has been big for him. From having his remix of “Call Me Maybe” go viral blasting him off into the blogosphere, to being featured on X-Factor as well as performing shows with the likes of Mike Stud and more. Now that the young Madison, WI native has finally completed college he’s reached that point in the road where he must choose whether or not to pursue his dream in music, or head into the everyday career world. This challenge he’s faced with laid the foundation for this first single, “End Of The Road” off his upcoming EP.
Hip-Hop | Astro – Deadbeat (Come Bad Boy)
Posted by Grubeats on October 31, 2012
At a young 16 years, Brooklyn born rapper, Astro aka Astronomical Kid, has certainly built up quite a resume. He is a true student of the game, crediting the early legends as his inspiration, despite the fact he and Tupac shared the same air for a mere 18 days. Since notching a 7th place finish on season one of The X-Factor, Astro found himself on the single version of Cher Lloyd’s worldwide hit, “Want U Back”, made his TV debut on CBS’ “Person of Interest”, and most significantly signed a record deal with L.A. Reid’s Epic Records. Since inking his deal he has released one mixtape, Løser, close to a year ago, but since has been rather quiet. His newest release, and first single off his upcoming mixtape, Dead Beats & Lazy Lyrics, stems from a tough childhood relationship with his father. Produced and written by Astro, lyrics and a raw, authentic hip-hop sound are two things you can continually expect from the young MC.
Hip-Hop, Pop | Marcus Canty – In & Out ft. Wale
Posted by Grubeats on July 11, 2012
Marcus Canty is undoubtably destined for success. He proved that when he first showcased his powerful voice and on stage “swagger” during his tenure on the X-Factor. Alongside fellow contestant and now label-mate, Chris Rene, Industry exec, LA. Reid signed Canty on to Sony’s Epic Records with a clear vision of molding him into the next big male R&B/pop star. Canty may be In & Out of love, but it appears he’s in music for life. Score Wale with an assist on Canty’s first official single release. DMV unifying with strength as always.
Pop, Videos | Chris Rene – Young Homie [Music Video]

The heartfelt journey of Chris Rene was what initially drew a lot of people’s attention. That, coupled with his unique and flavorful sound. It’s no question he magnetized the hearts of millions through his progression on the X-Factor and although it may seem like he has put an unbearing amount of emphasis on this single, it really does tell a lot about Chris as an artist and a person. For anyone who has followed my posts on the Santa Cruz kid, knows I’ve been sold on him for months. It will be interesting to see what angle he takes with his next single, whether it will be a more acoustic based song, a highly infused hip-hop/pop track, or something completely different.
Sound off in the comments section if you’re feeling this tune and Chris Rene in general, or conversely if you think he’s no more than a one hit wonder.

The name Melanie Amaro still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. If you aren’t up to date on your competitive singing TV series, Melanie Amaro is the most recent winner of Simon Cowell’s show, The X Factor. Beating out my boy Chris Rene and singer Josh Krajcik to win a $5 million recording deal with Sony along with a guest spot in a Pepsi commercial (where Flavor Flav took the cake), Melanie surely has a great voice, but Chris Rene is a new flavor of music.
Shortly after his bronze medal finish on the show, Chris signed his own deal with Epic records under Sony. Now, a few months later, Chris has re-mastered his token track, “Young Homie”, adding a new verse, changing a few lines around, and perfecting his sound. This record was written, produced, and composed by Chris himself and will be the first single off his debut LP, which does not yet have a release date, but I’d presume sometime this summer. Renaliens where you at?
