Dubstep | Skrillex Bangarang EP
Posted by Sev on December 23, 2011
The long gruesome wait for new material from Skrillex is finally over. The Bangarang EP has finally released, and although it doesn’t have all the tracks most people were looking for including myself, it is better than nothing. The worst part was finding out that Summit was actually the track everyone thought was called “Breathe”. I felt that “Right On Time” was just a track to take up space, because it was just an overall terrible track in my opinion. At one point throughout the track I felt like I should be doing the Melbourne shuffle, until the BPM finally changed in the middle of the track.
Kyoto is the track that stands out to me most as the top track for this EP. Although the many versions of Ruffneck Bass were leaked well in advance of their releases, this version blew them all out of the water. Devil’s Den was something different, and Wolfgang Gartner’s style could be seen through this track. I can’t blame Skrillex for putting these tracks out seeing as he just completed over 300+ shows in a year and managed his own label, but hopefully the next EP shows us why he was nominated for five Grammy awards. Here is the link to grab it on BEATPORT.
Albums, Electro, House | Wolfgang Gartner – Weekend in America (album review)
Posted by Spice on September 21, 2011
Wolfgang Gartner’s first album dropped yesterday, and let me begin by saying: it does not disappoint. In fact, it’s pretty crazy. It goes hard, he keeps it interesting and creative by incorporating a lot of variety, and virtually every track is high energy in its own right. He manages to bring together catchy, progressive house melodies with glitchy, dynamic, and always heavy beats, for an overall sound that’s somewhere between Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia. While the blockbuster tracks have been out for a while — Space Junk; Illmerica — it’s still undoubtedly worth the download. Basically, this is the kind of thing you want to be dancing your face off to in a dark basement.
There are two different versions available — the “bonus track” version on iTunes, which, as the name suggests, features the bonus track Cognitive Dissonance (which dropped on Hot Topic’s website last week, of all places….rogue), and the extended version which can be found on Beatport. Anyone who really appreciates the unique sound that Wolfgang brings to his tracks will undoubtedly be best served by the longer mixes available for DL on Beatport, so take my advice and hit up the link below.

Electro | Wolfgang Gartner, Spencer & Hill
Posted by Middy on August 2, 2011
Max Vangeli and AN21, Steve Angello’s brother, have been making waves in the electronic community and the sky is the limit for these guys. Wolfgang Gartner puts together this very creative song with its heavy bassline and electro infused melodies that keep you hooked the whole way through.

Spencer & Hill coming off of their hit Beatrocka gift us another banger Dance. This one has everything you would expect from a Spencer & Hill song with its heavy electro, awesome drops and great bass. The Dirtyloud remix I also included takes the beat to a whole another level and though it takes a little while to get there, the drop is heavy and unreal.

Electro, Hip-Hop | Split Second – Illmerica (Party Rock Remix)

Split Second is back with a huge remix over this epic Wolfgang Gartner beat. Here’s what the trio (yes, one attends Trinity College) said about their latest project:
Each Wednesday for the next five weeks we will be releasing one song from the saga. Illmerica is the Episode Two of the saga, with Innocence (which we dropped awhile ago) being Episode One.The songs will consist of house/dubstep remixes. Meanwhile we’ll be working on the next full mixtape, which will have songs such as Blood Diamond on it, of original sounds which will be out shortly. We’re have a lot of new material so hope people are ready for it.

Mashups | Mashup Mondays
Posted by BIGLIFE on October 16, 2010
Do I care that it’s Saturday and I’m calling this post Mashup Mondays? No because the title is catchy and apparently we can just do whatever the hell we want around here. I’m gone from FNT for a minute and I come back to “JEWCEBOX” sacrificing my flow. I know those 50+ likes were all dudes just trying to cut me out of the game. Not going to fall for it – just like girls at my school aren’t going to fall for these atrocious tightie whities my roommate was wearing the other night. Can someone please back me up on this and just publicly humiliate him sometime in the near future for rocking these? Kid has the worst taste in music (go figure) and never goes on FNT so I know I’ll get off scot-free with this one. Shouts to Jessica for her dedication to both my “locks” and music.
NOTE: The player for these is temporarily not playing, will be fixed shortly
