Hip-Hop | Wale ft. Big Sean – Slight Work (Prod. by Diplo)

Posted by on October 25, 2011

With his sophomore album, Ambition, only one week away, Wale drops the last single which is produced by Diplo and features Sean Don.  Definitely a unique beat from Diplo, but what else would you expect? I guess when you’re as filthy as these two young guns, the currency comes even when you only slightly work.  Sound the sirens, this album is going to do some damage. 11.1.11.  M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-aybach Music!

B.o.B. recently teamed up with Playboy Tre and Meek Mill for what could be the second single off his sophomore album, Strange Clouds, due out in early spring of 2012, or another unreleased track off a presumed mixtape dropping sometime between now and then.  Above are the visuals for the track, “Epic”, which the trio goes hard over the wild Lil C production in the confines of a vacant boxing gym.

Statik Selektah is only days away from dropping his highly anticipated album, Population Control, featuring a slew of stars, both young and old.  “Groupie Love”, the third track off the production album features Mac Miller and Josh Xantus.  Judging by the lineup, this will probably be one of the lighter tracks on the record.  Stay tuned, I’ll keep you posted with more releases as the album drops next Tuesday, the 25th.  Also, below is yet another unreleased cut from Mac.  Sounds like an old one.

Wale laid down a short freestyle over Jay-Z’s classic, “What More Can I Say”, with hopes of keeping people tuned in prior to the release of Ambition.  Wale exercises his wordplay on this one and keeps it fresh as always.   Ambition coming 11.1.11.

The Roots tag label mate, Big K.R.I.T. for a verse on their new single off their upcoming album, undun, scheduled to hit shelves 12.6.11.  As expected, here’s a powerful and soulful track that we’ve grown accustomed to hearing from both parties.

Diggy Diggy Diggy can’t you see!  Young Simmons grabs a hook from Jeremih as the the youngin’ drops what could be the fullest song he’s released to date.  I’m still not completely sold on the kid, but with time, he’s got the resources to be a star.

Hip-Hop | Hip-Hop Update: Nicki, Wayne, Big Sean, Phil Ade, Wale, Chip

Posted by on October 17, 2011

Nicki revisists her acting side as she addresses the public as Lil Wayne.  As much as I love Nicki, I was kind of disappointed by her ability to impersonate him.  Sure she had some gestures and sayings down, but I feel like she could have nailed the head a little harder.  Nonetheless, you think Weezy was there for this?  Will he take it with the grain of salt it’s intended to be taken with? Is Nicki the new face of Young Money?

Usually it’s a toss up whether or not I like Bow Wow.  He recently dropped his latest single featuring his father figure, Lil Wayne.  I have to say Bow Wow nails this one and actually leads me to believe he’s got some of his childhood swag back.  MAYBE.

Here’s a remix of Miguel’s latest solo hit, “Quickie”.  Sean Don adds a pinch of G.O.O.D. for this slow hip-hop/rnb hit.  You can always count on Big Sean for an on point verse when it comes to something girls, hoes, sex, or any combination of the three.

Phil Ade drops some educational bars for all his college girls.  Taking a trip to several campuses, the Maryland native chirps off about all his lovely college coeds.  Not sure where this track is destined to land, but I’d guess Ade’s got a new mixtape on the way.

Wale recently stopped by The Come Up Show to debate trap music vs. his work with Ross.  He goes on to share Rozay easily has 33 cars, but who didn’t already know that?  While he was on the show, he dropped some Ambitious bars for Cosmic Kev.  On top of that, here’s a new cut from Chip Tha Ripper, which also features Wale.  I haven’t been a huge fan of Chip since his early days, but he has a decent showing on this Boi 1da produced track.  Wale still kills it.  Ambition, November 1st.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop | Wale ft. Kid Cudi – Focused

Posted by on October 14, 2011

It looks like Wale and Cudi are putting their year long beef to rest with this new record which Wale claims to be, “The best top 40 song that isn’t corny”. Oddly enough, this track doesn’t seem to appear on Wale’s Ambition track-list which recently leaked…

Hip-Hop | Busta Rhymes – Ni**as In Paris (Remix), Wale ft. Rick Ross

Busta Rhymes hooks up with his fellow brotha from Brooklyn and Kanye West to bring you the unofficial remix to the Watch the Throne track that has everyone in America, and France?, feeling like a boss.

Hip-Hop | Wale – Lotus Flower Bomb (feat. Miguel)

Maybach Music’s latest big addition Wale just dropped this heater on Twitter – he goes IN on these bars. Unlike many artist out there, Wale has been consistently dropping tracks that win me over.

“Dont believe in love at first sight, but believe in love a first uhh”

Hip-Hop | XV – Hoop Dreams, Lupe Fiasco – Carrera Lu

Holy NBA wordplay.  The Squarian King just keeps pouring them out. I’m starting to lose count, what is this like 5 tracks in 10 days? If you’re a basketball fan, you’re going to love this new cut from XV.  Personally I’m a huge fan of sports inspired hip-hop songs and this is one of the best I’ve heard.  Wale & J. Cole are two of my favorites for making athletic references, but XV holds his own on this one produced for anyone who ever had dreams of being a pro baller.  A tight beat, a short Biggie sample, and ridiculously clever basketball wordplay sums up this track. Follow our boy on Twitter.

Here’s an older bonus track from Lupe’s debut album, Food & Liquor, as Monday will mark the 5th year anniversary of the release.  I apologize for the sub par quality, I’ll work on getting you guys a CDQ.

*BONUS*

While we’re on the topic of sports inspired hip-hop tracks, here’s one i’ve been high on lately that some of you may have missed.  Wale released this track, “Varsity Blues” on his recent mixtape, The Eleven One Eleven Theory, and just like the ’99 football flick, revolves around football.
