FYI | Here’s The Problem With Afrojack’s “Gone” Single
Posted by BIGLIFE on September 15, 2016
When I heard his brand new “Gone” single featuring Ty Dolla $ign it grabbed my attention immediately. I appreciated that he was trying to do something different despite the recent trend to meld the dance and hip-hop worlds. Afrojack stepped out of the box this time, and it was so damn close to paying off for him. I want to like this song. Ty Dolla $ign’s toplines are always sneaky good, and this one is no exception. This song had all the makings of a “hit” until you reach the 1:12 mark.
That’s when the song falls off the rails.
I’ll start wit the vocal mix. It’s bad. Really bad. How could Afrojack get the vocal mix so wrong? The production is far too loud, and drowns Ty Dolla $ign’s vocals out, making them nearly unintelligible. The verses are the best part of the song. How could you let those verses go to waste with a vocal mix (on the drop) that’s sub-par.
Even worse? The drop. The drop is a lot like going on a date. The date is going well. You’re on fire. Every thing you’re saying is making her laugh. You invite the date back to your house. You’re on the couch. She’s grinding all over you. Calling you “papi”. Gets you all worked up. All of a sudden, her friend texts her and she says he has to leave. You’re sitting there and you don’t know what the hell just happened.
This is what the drop feels like. A complete train wreck.
While I applaud Afrojack for stepping outside of his box, this one falls short.
Progressive House | Lush & Simon – Banshee

Though Simon from Lush & Simon left the duo, the hot in demand duo live in on with a new member with Lush as the veteran and grounding member. To celebrate the fact they have a tune coming soon on Protocol Recordings, they are giving out a brand new freebee “Banshee”. The tune starts with a more minimal clubby feel and then elevates into the powerful melodic type of style that we have come to expect from Lush & Simon. Also included is their vocal mix of “City Of Lights”, featuring Swedish group XOV that was released on Monday.
Progressive House | Sander van Doorn – Right Here Right Now (Neon)
Posted by Middy on February 11, 2014
The vocal mix of his tune stunning tune from last year “Neon”, Sander van Doorn releases “Right Here Right Now”. It can be dicey to do vocal mixes of well established instrumentals and we have seen this happen to mixed success in the past couple years with the vocal mixes of “Spaceman” and “Tsunami” (you had no idea they did one) decided failures and the vocal mix of “I Could Be The One” working out quite well. This should turn out to be one of those successes, reviving the tune and giving it the potential for more commercial appeal without sacrificing the integrity of the tune. This song has become quite the hit that even one of the top soccer (football) clubs in the Netherlands PSV Eindhoven has decided to use it as its anthem.
Dubstep, Preview | MitiS Ft. Collin McLoughlin – Born (Vocal Mix)

MitiS and Collin McLoughlin have been all of the place lately. I got extremely excited when I saw they collaborated together for a vocal mix. MitiS produced another extraordinary Dubstep original and Collin has done nothing but show us that 2013 is his year. My only negative is that this preview is too short, I NEED MOAR! Luckily we wont have to wait long since MitiS and Collin McLoughlin plan on dropping this gem tomorrow for free.
Progressive House | dBerrie feat. Tatiana Owens – Aquarius (Vocal Mix)

New York City native dBerrie has decided to give out the vocal mix of his single “Aquarius” released on Fedde Le Grand & Funkerman’s Flamingo Recordings for free and we could not be happier. The vocal from fellow NYC native Tatiana Owens meshes impeccably with the smooth builds and melodic peak time moments put together by the young producer. The instrumental had a ton of support from some big names, so do not hesitate this free download.

Progressive House, Videos | Hardwell ft. Mitch Crown – Call Me A Spaceman

The dynamic Dutchman, Hardwell, has released the vocal mix of his hit single “Spaceman” with the help of prominent vocalist Mitch Crown. The vocals adhere perfectly to the melody and rhythm of the track and do not get in the way of Hardwell’s well crafted instrumental. The vocals add a singalong element to the unique build that then crescendos into the powerful, high powered drop. Adding vocals to instrumental anthems has been hit and miss, but the addition of these vocals from Mitch Crown has definitely made this track better.

DJ-Set, House | Refune Radio Ep #004 + Pierce Fulton May Mix
Posted by Middy on May 12, 2012
Above is the video for Alesso & Sebastian Ingrosso’s anthem “Calling” where we get to see the somewhat father son relationship that Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso have with each other and some Coachella moments for both of them.
Sebastian Ingrosso is back with another episode of Refune Radio where he shares with us his favorite Coachella memories where he played 4 shows over the 2 weekends including one on his birthday and the true Legend Paul Mccartney showed up as well, which has to be legendary for Ingrosso. His mix goes through some of the best recent tracks as well as unreleased bombs such Deniz Koyu’s Bong, now signed to Refune Records, Alesso – Years, a song that seems to be changing a little bit every time we hear it and Eric Prydz – Allein, which I predict will be one of those tracks that will remembered for a very long time. The mix spot on with a few well crafted bootlegs and an excellent tracklist.
Also after the jump is the May mix from Pierce Fulton, which takes you on a journey of smooth, uplifting house tunes, from old school Cirez D to the upcoming Mat Zo track “The Sky”.
