Albums | Emma Rae Releases Pop Rock single ‘Kids These Days’

Posted by on August 14, 2022

Emma Rae is an upcoming Stamford, CT-based pop vocalist and songwriter. Her upbringing in a house with a jazz trombonist father and vocalist/guitarist mother has heavily influenced her writing and musical ear. Her new single “Kids These Days” has a different sounding vibe to it compared to prior releases, leaning more into the pop punk and rock space but still being grounded in the pop space. Read a quote on the new track below now and check it out above. Enjoy!

“Kids These Days is about the frustration I feel when I think about the kind of world the kids of today are growing up in. I teach music to kids on the side and hearing some of the stuff they think about and go through on a daily basis feels so far removed from how I grew up. Social media plays a massive part in this, they all seem to grow up so much faster than I did. The awkward stage seems to be completely bypassed and the level of maturity needed is much higher than it once was. Its a nostalgic feeling while also feeling anxious, frustrated, and kinda angry. I won’t deny there’s a small jab at GenZ culture in there as well but it’s all in good fun.”

Alternative | Hippie Tribe Drop ‘Gulla Punk: mod 1’

Posted by on September 15, 2021

Alternative hip hop two-piece Hippie Tribe consisting of blond.bomber and dp.thuHippie return with a brand new double single release via ‘Gullah Punk: mod 1’. Vibrantly original and untethered to a specific genre, Hippie Tribe’s latest Gullah Punk: mod 1 is out now via the duo’s own indie imprint, OTOLO Records. Tune in above now and read a quote on the release from the group below now:

“Generation after generation come and go and we write the same narratives. The Black community has operated at the mercy of the US government since the shores of West Africa were breached. As an American Black man and descendant of the Gullah Geechee people, I know all too well the longing for a history that’s nearly erased, all while hoping my present dystopian-like experience will somehow evolve into a prominent future. Well, we got really tired of hoping so we decided to make our own future, today.”

Pop | Gillian Heidi Releases Impressive Debut LP

Posted by on August 17, 2021

Rising Boston-based singer/songwriter Gillian Heidi has finally released her debut album, ‘3AM’, a project where she flawlessly blends elements of Pop, Indie and Alternative Rock and more. While their are plenty of rising stars in the Pop space I hear something special in this project: not only lyrically but from a melodic standpoint. Listen to the LP above now and read a quote from Gillian Heidi on the release below now.

“I’ve been building 3AM for almost 2 years now, and I have never been more proud of music I’ve released. To me, the album is all about growing up, falling apart, and coming back together. It is my coming of age story. As I get older, I look at the songs on this album as different stages of growing up. Some songs I wrote in eighth grade, some I wrote throughout highschool. They all have different meanings to me and have helped me process different emotions while becoming who I am today. I have never been more excited to release something into the world as I am about 3AM, and I hope everyone loves this project as much as I do!”

Every so often the music realm is gifted a very talented songwriter and in this case it is Tash Parker. Parker‘s new song and video for “Superhuman” is a journey of self discovery and being brave. The synths in lush vocals really give this song a unique feel and is an anthem for overcoming. “Superhuman is about being brave, facing your fears and evolving,” explains Tash. “I wrote it in response to developing anxiety and insomnia a few years ago. Dealing with the challenges led me on a journey of self discovery. I learned meditation techniques and developed a fitness/health practice that brings me to today feeling superhuman.

Posted by on June 14, 2017

Meet 13th Zodiac. LA’s next big house duo that you need to get to know. We received their brand new “Booty Sweat” single this week from ItsNoRequests and absolutely love it. In fact, we can’t get enough. We’ve been abusing the repeat button on Soundcloud since it released. When asked about the meaning of their brand new “Booty Sweat” single, 13th Zodiac said:

“Booty Sweat is a track that is inspired by a global pandemic club-goers face today. The track itself is driven by a thumpy, yet groovy bass line, and followed by a low pitched voice that cuts through the mix to lock down the groove. It is guaranteed to instill perspiration between moist thighs worldwide.”

Available on all your favorite streaming platforms, “Booty Sweat” is the first release of many from the LA duo dropping this summer. Get invested. Keep an eye. 13th Zodiac is a group on the rise.
