bowts

A little something before you kick off the weekend. I hadn’t heard anything from Magnus & Timon for quite some time and lo and behold it was because they had split up and Timon is producing on his own. Not skipping a beat, Timon, now Bowts, delivers another well produced, high energy, melodic tune, filled with plenty of hands in the air moments. It is free, so make sure you grab it below.

House | Sander Van Doorn & Oliver Heldens – THIS

Sander Van Doorn & Oliver Heldens - THIS

Fans of these two have been waiting quite some time for this one. It seems like everyone wants a piece of the Oliver Heldens brand of “future house” and he is eager to dish it out, with very little changed. It is one thing to find a signature sound, which is incredibly difficult to do unto itself, but to be able to evolve within that and expand creatively is one of the marks of a great producer. “THIS” sounds an awful like “Gecko” and you can hear some influence of Sander van Doorn, but not much. The tune comes out October 6th and will probably be another Beatport chart topping hit.

Videos | Monstercat 3 Year Anniversary Video From Didrick

Posted by on September 17, 2014

monstercat-3-yearWow, it seemed like yesterday that Monstercat was started by its founder Mike Darlington and now three years in, things are bigger and better than anyone could have imagined. The label is not just a platform for artists to release their music on, but a marketing tool to connect with thousands of eager fans worldwide. To celebrate three years, Monstercat got Swedish producer, Didrick, who you may first remember for his remix of “I Can Be The One”, to mix and mash 78 tunes from the monstercat library into one wild 3-minute piece. The visuals to go along with it are the icing on the cake as you see Didrick working a launchpad and keyboard at the same time, while a drummer, guitarist and full backing band help provide the soundtrack to an outstanding three years of Monstercat. Cheers to you guys and to many more to come. You can grab the mashup and a compilation of Monstercat’s favorite tunes on iTunes here.

Manila Killa, 1/2 of the Hotel Garuda duo, decided to release his brand new mix for wavo.me today and it’s mighty fine. I enjoy the hour long mixes for when I study or have some down time, and this one fits the bill. I’m pretty sure he took every song I have liked on my Soundcloud and put them in a mix together, I’m very impressed. I have been really starting to jump onto this Hotel Garuda train and now with this mix, it only means more attention. Be sure to check out the mix and download it for free below, as well as another Manila Killa track that you guys will thoroughly enjoy.

Not sure how I’ve missed this track by Michael Calfan “Prelude,” but with just a few days before the release on September 12th via Spinning Records, I still have time to get myself acquainted with this progressive vocal house gem, and I just made that term up, because in all honesty it’s straight house, with hints of French house and glitch house if I say so myself.  Having named the record “Prelude” one can only anticipate that is just the beginning, and I sure as hell can’t wait to hear what more Michael Calfan has in store for us! This is a must listen, get lost to that piano!

Events | Feed Me Brings The Teeth To Terminal 5

feed me terminal 5

When you kick off a tour, you want to do it with a bang. Picking NYC for your city and Terminal 5 as your venue is a great way to kick things off not just me as a biased observer being from the area, but also with its size and impact on dance music. Terminal 5 has one of the best sound systems in the city and that was evident on this night. The low end was so strong during the show that the hairs on my body did not sit still for a second that he was playing. Not sure how the kids up front handled it (lots of drugs probably), but it was one of the most intense bass experiences I have felt, but with the clarity of Terminal 5’s speakers it was easy to take in.
