Progressive House | Arty – EDC Las Vegas Set
Posted by mimada on June 28, 2013
Listening to Arty is the closest I think I’ll ever come to the feeling of flying, which probably explains why I got a $400 speeding ticket while playing his Identity mix on a recent road trip (Texas cops are ruthless, mane). I don’t want to dwell on how upset I am that I didn’t get to see Arty live because this mix is just that good that it makes up for it. Arty starts this set out softly and compassionately, then sweeps you away with the Mikkas remix of “Rewind” and then hits you in the face with some Wolfgang Gartner “Space Junk.” I really lost it when the “We Are Your Friends” vocals made a surprise appearance during “Mozart.” I would do horrible things to have been there, going deaf at the front of the crowd, because my Logitech speakers are just not doing this set any justice, and they’re also not masking the sounds of my FOMO induced sobs. Next year…
Also, be sure check out this preview for his latest track, “Grand Finale,” featuring ethereal vocals from Fiora. Can’t wait for this release.
Electronic, House | Disclosure – Settle (Album Review)
Posted by Spice on June 12, 2013
These days, it’s hard to do much of anything on the internet without encountering heaps of reverential praise for the British brother-duo better known as Disclosure. They’ve become the de facto poster children for what’s cool in 2013 and have amassed a following that includes both hipster indie pop enthusiasts and their ravier twenty-something counterparts. Back in March, I remember perusing the calendar at one of my favorite clubs and noticing that they had sold out that upcoming Friday — the first Friday of the second weekend of Ultra, as it were. Not only did this not register with me at the time, but I didn’t even bother to catch them in Miami. Quelle folie. I am usually slow to warm up to bandwagon-y new groups, probably due to the fact that I am effectively a huge music snob in denial, but sometimes the hype becomes too great to overlook and bandwagons get harder and harder to ignore. In the case of Disclosure (and their now very considerable bandwagon), I can confirm that all the hype is utterly justified.
House | Flight Facilities ft. Jess- Foreign Language
Posted by A on April 6, 2012
Enigmatic Sydney production duo Flight Facilities recently yreleased their new “Foreign Language” single featuring Jess Higgs. Perhaps best described as nu-disco, Flight Facilities have made notable waves in the blogosphere as of late with sultry songs like “Crave You” that capture a nostalgic 70’s glamour conspicuously absent from the mainstream. Put on your finest flared jeans, wide collared shirts, and platform boots because Flight Facilities will undoubtedly make you shake that groove thing. Disco has been revived in the form of Flight Facilities. Stream the track below.
Electro-House | Afrojack – Fatility
Posted by Sev on March 13, 2012
Afrojack back at it again with yet another big release this week entitled Fatility. Still keeping the standards high after his previous release with Shermanology, this track brings in that same Dirty Dutch style we were so used to hearing from him in his early days. We saw little glimpses of this banger on live stream a few weeks ago and since then the fans have been dying for its release. Through the buildup we can progressively hear those signature Afrojack sounds we are so accustomed to hearing, while slowly building up to that sexy, high pitched dirty dutch drop. Ill leave you guys with some words from the wise, “If it ain’t Dutch it ain’t much.” -Middy.
Girl Fire, Pop | Dev ft. Timbaland-Don’t Hurt
Posted by ATexas on January 18, 2012
This is Far-East-Movement-meets-Kreayshawn with a verse drop by Timbaland. Definitely the most unfinished sound Dev has released, but I can see it catching on to main stream charts. I didn’t like it the first (or second) time I heard it, but by the third time I was beep booping to the beat, like embarrassing hairbrush in front of the mirror beep booping.
