Pop | MNYS Drops His Brand New “Proud” Single
Posted by BIGLIFE on April 8, 2015
When longtime FreshNewTracks.com compadre Luke Heffernan (who I suspect you all know from Timeflies) hits you about a new artist, you listen. Hailing from New York, MNYS is an unsigned singer and songwriter that just dropped his brand new “Proud” single off his forthcoming “My New York Summer” EP slated to release April 13. Keep an eye on this rising artist. I think he’s got much more in store for us as summer inches closer.

Girl Fire, Pop | Lyric Lincoln — Bodies
Posted by jeffwbaird on November 9, 2014
It is really hard to make smart pop music. The charts will always be predominantly filled by recent successors within familiar tropes: body braggadocio (“All About That Bass”, “Anaconda”); hater-denouncement (“Shake It Off”); dehumanization of women (“Animals”); relationship turbulence (“Stay With Me”) — I could go on; but when I hear a song that is smart, that contains a semblance of wisdom — I know that it’s something special.
“Bodies”, the first single from Lyric’s upcoming project, Garden of Even, was produced by Jonathan Buscema and is every bit as memorable and upbeat as those aforementioned. It feels and sounds like a traditional pop song, and yet it reads like the work of an established, eloquent songwriting talent, leaving the listener (as I believe all great art does) mentally engaged and aware throughout the existential track.
This is only our first taste of Lyric Lincoln — a budding NYC singer, songwriter, and model — but with a first release like this, she’s definitely got my attention.

In this up-and-coming remix of Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” you can hear how Leah makes the song her own through sultry vocals.

House, Videos | FNT Premiere: Johnson Orchid – I’ll Be There (Deepmilo remix) [Video]
Posted by Middy on October 11, 2014
UK singer / songwriter / dancer Johnson Orchid has some serious talent. His latest tune “I’ll Be There” is just the latest example of what he brings to the music world. A well crafted song, “I’ll Be There” is now aided by a deep and bass oriented remix from Deepmilo. The video takes us through some desert far far away or probably out in the American West as Johnson Orchid dances on and near all sorts of random objects like a boat with his smoakey the bear hat on though. He does have some very smooth moves though, including the Kevin Hart.
Indie | Hozier – Take Me To Church (LahLahLand Remix)

In this up-and-coming remix of Hozier’s “Take Me to Church”, premiered here on Fresh New Tracks, you can hear how Leah makes the song her own through sultry vocals.
The track features totally original production by producer Mike Irish through a powerful but beautiful culmination of electronic and orchestral sounds. In addition to vocals, Leah plays her violin to further invite you into her transient land of music.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Dylan Owen — My Name Is Dylan [Freestyle]
Posted by jeffwbaird on November 13, 2013
Over the past few years of closely following the trajectories of upstart artists (rappers in particular), one of the most important characteristics of the more enduring artists I’ve found is their versatility. Dylan Owen has rightfully received a tremendous amount of praise since 2011’s Keep Your Friends Close, all synonymous with his innate ability to gratify a variety of listeners with equal ease: honesty-craving singer-songwriter fans, lyrically-focused hip-hop heads, punchline-loving partygoers. While his most recent release, “The Window Seat”, is what he’s best known for—the maturity of perspective, the resonance of his songwriting, the lasting substance—here he concocts a quick reminder that he, too, can playfully rap with the best of them. Reminiscent of the verse he premiered prior to our interview together a year ago, this track is punchline-heavy, and shows off his wittiness and love to play with language. A must listen, regardless of your preconceived genre-affiliations.
