Hip-Hop, Rap | OnCue – Leftovers 2

What better suited title for the day after Thanksgiving than Leftovers 2? I’ll answer that for you: none. There are no better titles than Leftovers 2. To tide us over until his full length project, OnCue decided last minute to drop the sequel to his original Leftovers series.

The tape is full of the conviction that Cuey has become so well known for in addition to a few lighter-spirited tracks like “Nude”. Features included a few familiar names including Sonny Shotz, Ro Ransom, Skizzy Mars and The Kickdrums and the talented production team was headed by in-house favorite, CJ Luzi.

I’ll surely be bumping this project for the remainder of 2013 and I recommend you all hit the download and do the same. Toss OnCue a follow on Twitter if you’re feeling the tunes!

Hip-Hop, Videos | QuESt – Fair Warning [Music Video]

NEATO: Never Ever Allow The Obscene.

The Miami native, QuEST is back with his latest video single, “Fair Warning” to kick off Neato Season 2013.  Sticking his fork into the Doc Dre produced/Eminem owned record, “Evil Deeds”, QuEST exercises some ridiculous lyrical wordplay.  Really, this is nothing new from QuEST.  He has been continuously slaying tracks, the majority of which are original productions.  This beat has always been a gem, but it was never one of my favorites from Eminem off Encore. Nonetheless, it is still Eminem’s track but QuEST triumphantly holds his own.

On a side note, QuEST will be riding the tour bus around the country with Logic, Skizzy Mars, & C. Dot Castro starting this May. Grab your tickets now!

Hip-Hop | OnCue – Live Forever ft. Skizzy Mars

We’ve seen several artists come into their own here at FNT.  Many of which have signed records deals, had major hits, or seen a massive spike in their social following (I’m not referring to the ones who cheated and bought the numbers).  Although Cuey has not yet had “that moment” per say, he has remained one of the most consistent, hungry, even keeled artists we feature.  His head remains above the water while he plots his next move.  He continues to develop with every release and is a true artist of his craft.  His highly anticipated project, Angry Young Man, has been in the works for several months now and although this cut will not be on the project, it’s reassurance that it will be a worthwhile wait.  You have to let the marinate to harness the flavors, right?

Hip-Hop, Review | Grubeats’ Top 12 of ’12

Posted by on January 14, 2013

Grubeats; fashionably tardy as always.  I can’t promise I’ve saved the best for last, but hopefully this eclectic mix of tracks tickle’s at least party of your fancy.  I’d enjoy hearing from you in the comments section if you have opinions on any of these songs!

12.) Skizzy Mars – Sirens

This young star didn’t sound my radar until late spring of ’12.  I had heard the name and few scattered verses, but overlooked the true talent Skizzy Mars was bringing to the table until I first heard “Sirens”.  With sounds similar to a young Cudi, Skizzy himself only recently graduated high school and has only begun to lie the brick and mortar for long, prosperous career.

11.) Skrillex & Damian Marley – Make It Bun Dem

As you probably know, I’m not a die heard EDM head like many writers and followers of this site.  No kandi for this kid.  I do however, enjoy just about anything Skrillex lays his hands on.  Couple the addictive production with Damian Marley’s rasta raps and you have pure gold.  If and when hip-hop and EDM cross paths, this is the type of execution I expect.
