For all those getting the rain this saturday, here’s some dreary day rap from two hip-hop heavyweights. Welcome back T.I. The song “sampled” is Above and Beyond – Air for Life.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Tarik – Dead Presidents (Music Video)
Posted by Grubeats on September 19, 2011
As promised, here are brand new visuals from the NYC affiliated artist, Tarik, delivering another dosage of fresh air. Like Logic, who I posted earlier today, Tarik is true to his word and represents more than just music. To quote BIGLIFE,
“I seldom find a hip-hop artist that sticks to rap in its purest form. Tarik, is one of those needles in a haystack; he flows about his personal issues and life, not about a fantasy land. “
The visuals are brought to us by Studio o3 and feature several city shots along with some cuts from Tarik ballin’ in the gym. It takes a lot to impress me on “Dead Presidents” because it’s such a classic. If you’re going to go in on it, you have to go in hard. Tarik easily carries his weight and once again impressed the FNT ears. Hopefully you guys see the same potential in this kid and be sure to stay tuned for his mixtape, T.R.I.G.S., dropping hot, a week from today, 9/26.

Hip-Hop | Bei Maejor ft. Mike Posner – They Call Me
Posted by ATexas on September 11, 2011
Want piano, drums, gospel singing, a little Mike Posner and slamming rap verses. Yes, one please. Bei Maejor’s newest drop “They Call Me” lays down verses with a melange of classic instrumentals intermingling with dope verses. The best part? There is variety, I don’t think I can take another rap song thats just repeat, repeat, repeat. It’s music….not shampoo. You can follow his blog as well that has a bunch of interesting visuals at www.beimaejor.com/blog.
PS: Went to Dayglow last night. Un-effing-believable

Dubstep, Hip-Hop | King Fantastic vs. Noisia – Locals Only (Troublemaker Edit)
Posted by Jess on August 26, 2011

King Fantastic’s “Locals Only” was already pretty nasty but then Troublemaker had to go and combine it with some sounds from Noisia. The result is some wobbly west coast gangster rap that only King Fantastic could bring. This is not for the faint of heart.

Electro | The Girls Can Hear Us – Just Go
Posted by GMONEY on August 17, 2011
Here is some new electro-rap from The Girls Can Hear Us. I’m starting to think that TGCHU is one of the more consistent groups out there right now, they’ve yet to put out a sub-decent track. Go show them love on facebook.

Hip-Hop | King Fantastic – Locals Only

You got good taste of what Troublemaker can bring to the table with his latest Pantystep mix and I thought I should introduce you to his other project, King Fantastic, with Killer Reese One. I was first introduced to the duo with the NSFW music video for their single “Why? Where? What?” featuring the beautiful Kristina Rose (watch it here) and have been hooked ever since. There is just something about hardcore gangster rap over Troublemaker’s wobbly beats that keeps me wanting more King Fantastic. “Locals Only” is the first leak off their upcoming Death of Summer EP due out August 30th.

Hip-Hop | Grieves – Against The Bottom
Posted by BIGLIFE on July 31, 2011
You know what I like about this guy? He doesn’t rap for the girls, he raps for himself. Sure, the video might include a hot girl or two (definitely not three that’s for sure) but you still catch him running down the street three guys deep in a flannel and skinny jeans. There’s something to be said for that – this is exactly what I mean about visuals providing that extra insight that heightens your understanding and appreciation for the music. Ben aka Grieves delivers real hip hop. Originally born in Chicago, Grieves later moved to a few other locations, providing him with a multitude of influences including the alternative sound he blends in with his rap. It reminds me a little of the lost art that fellow Chi-town artist, Rhymefest, tends to bring to the table (ps. do yourself a favor and watch Rhymefest “One Hand Pushup” video after the jump aka click MORE bc its gnarly). Maybe he’s more like Em in Stan, you be the judge…Take a leap of faith and give Grieves an ear.
