“This is a project that took me about 6 months & the vision behind it was to give DubStep an infusion of Vocals that we all recognize. While working on the project the idea came to me of taking it to the next level & creating a MashUp video for “DIFF” to stimulate not only the ears but also the eyes & I assure you it will make you look at DubStep in a different light. ” – DJ Whatt

Hip-Hop | Chevy Woods ft. Wiz Khalifa – The Cookout
Posted by GMONEY on September 25, 2011
Here is the latest project from the Taylor Gang duo, Chevy Woods and Wiz Khalifa. I’m not sure as to why they wouldn’t push this as a collaboration mixtape, instead of just a Chevy Woods project with a bunch of Wiz Khalifa features. They are probably trying real hard to push Chevy Woods for some more popularity. I get why it is called “The Cookout,” because if you are baked, it is perfect for you. Below are previews of my favorite three tracks.

Videos | OnCue – All The Way (Music Video + MP3)
Posted by Grubeats on September 23, 2011
Cuey dropped his most recent single, “All The Way”, two days back, only to be accompanied by a video which dropped just yesterday. As the third release, I’d presume this is the last single off his upcoming mixtape, Can’t Wait, due out by September’s end I believe. The song, produced by Cuey’s main man, CJ Luzi along with Manicanparty, who produced the majority of the mixtape, is on point as always. The video was directed by Adam Ross of Visual High Life, who has done the majority of Cuey’s visual work in the past. Cuey’s clearly ready to break out of his cage and deliver a project that will finally earn him the recognition he deserves. #CantWait

Mixtapes | Jazz Cartier – Losing Elizabeth (Mixtape)
Posted by Grubeats on September 22, 2011
“An album about a chick, that may seem stupid, but comprehend I am smarter than an AP student”- Jazz Cartier (Garden of Goliath)
Jazz Cartier aka JC aka Jaguar Jazzy aka The Black Zack Morris aka The Rap Pete Sampras aka The Black George Costanza aka The Rap Panda aka Jazz Kennedy…the list goes on. The road leading up to this release has been almost as long as his list of nicknames. Fortunately, the wait is over and we have a very impressive project from young Jazz. I’m not sure what they put in the water up in Toronto, but Jazz and Drake both know how to make that ever-so-deep relationship music. At only 18, it’s safe to say this prep school pimp protege has had his hand in more relationships than you and I both.
One reason why I’m so impressed with this project is because every song adhere’s to one overall concept. Many mixtapes & even albums today, especially early on in an artists career, consist of several unrelated songs thrown together under one umbrella. Aside from Jazz’s ability to consciously rap about girls, relationship, life, & other significant concepts, he has a rare ability to deliver a work of art. His distinct voice, humorous metaphors, & varying styles are what bring me closer to Jazz’s music. I’ve been supporting Jazz since day one and although it’s been a long road to this point, he’s continually growing and soon will be able to put music at the forefront. I’m excited to see what the future holds for Jazz and hope his next project another step up from this one.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Logic – Young Sinatra (Mixtape)
Posted by Grubeats on September 19, 2011
“Mafiatic mindstate, Hip-Hop heads never die we multiply then dominate” -Logic
With that being said, where are all my hip-hop heads at? Logic has been a regular feature here on FNT over the past couple of months with the release of his three previous visual singles off this project, “Mind Of Logic” as well as “Young Sinatra II” & “Just Another Day“, as he has quickly rose to a favorite for hip-hop fans around the blogosphere. This 22 track project has finally arrived, and the self dubbed, “Young Sinatra” takes another step forward in his journey to success.
“I can feel it now the fame is coming soon, how can sky be the limit when there’s footprints on the moon”
It’s not often talent like this strikes us out of the blue. Logic has exploded on the scene, showcasing uncanny delivery with his crispy clean voice and meaningful lyrics. Still only 21 years old, Logic is an artist that I truly believe yields the potential to make a successful and prosperous career in the game. His progression since his breakout mixtape, “Young Broke, & Infamous” is definitely evident, even though I was completely beside myself when I first heard his debut tape. Rather than mixing in some industry beats and remixes as he did on his previous tape, Logic brings us an all original piece of work, working with various producers and collecting only a few features. One of the most confident young artist’s out there, he is not scared to share his feelings with his fans, boasting his life accomplishments on record. You have to know you have talent when you compare yourself to arguably one of the greatest faces in music, Frank Sinatra. Typically, I’d resent that, but here, I can’t help but embrace it.
Upon initial discovery of Logic, the first artist that came to mind was J. Cole. Huge shoes to fill, yes, but too many similarities for my not to at least explore the belief. Logic is definitely his own artist and is not biting anyone’s style, but his lyrical mindset, the way he carries himself, his story, etc, remind me of a young J. Cole. Only time will tell, but listen to this project and maybe my comparison won’t sound so obscure.
Hit the jump for my Fav 5 off this project, the back album art, his previous tape, & more!
