Electronic | What So Not – High You Are [Preview]
Posted by Spice on June 20, 2013
Does it get more buzzy than Flume right now? Seriously. Just when you thought you couldn’t get more of the guy, you find out his brand new side project (with fellow Australian producer Emoh — there must be something in the water down undah, I tell ya) is set to drop its debut EP next week. What’s more, the first track previewed is — yet again — par excellence. With wistful, airy vocals, a super catchy hook, funky, off-kilter leads and a varied bassline, Flume (and What So Not) prove — yet again — that they’re some of the most inventive and exciting kids in the game right now. Look for The Quack EP to drop on June 25th via OWSLA.
Hip-Hop | A.Dd+ – Where You Been?
Posted by dshaq on June 19, 2013
The first thing that comes to mind while listening to A.Dd+’s newest release would be: smoker’s anthem. Hailing from Dallas, A.Dd+ offers us a slowed down beat with a heavy chopped and screwed sound that makes for a perfect relaxing song. The whole song is built well starting with a good chorus and verses. This one is definitely an ear pleaser, so make sure to look back for their upcoming project, DiveHiFlyLo.
Hip-Hop | ScHoolBoy Q – Collard Greens (ft. Kendrick Lamar)
Posted by dshaq on June 11, 2013
ScHoolBoy Q has slowly but surely making noise with his upcoming project, Oxymoron, slated to release soon. With Q’s first release, Yay Yay, we saw a much different sound than this one, but both show off Q’s versatility over an array of different beats. With Collard Greens we get a good verse from ScHoolBoy, however, it’s Kendrick stealing the show with his bilingual verse. This one is definitely a must listen but make sure to look back for Oxymoron, which will be out soon.
Albums | Jonny Craig — The Lives We Live (prod. Captain Midnite) [Video]

Every once in awhile a producer comes around who really grabs my attention. Generally it’s because they seem to share such similar taste; the kind of producer who essentially makes the kinds of beats I would if I was any good. That for me, recently, has been Captain Midnite, whose stellar solo EP, All This Will Fade, was released on the site back in October. Where Midnite really excels, though, is when he sits down with a single artist and produces an entire project, like he’s done with Georgia rapper Kyle Lucas. In those instances, he is able to create a sound that is the ideal of the studio album—where collectively the work sounds much more impressive than the individual cut. Recently, he has paired up with Canadian-American singer/rocker Jonny Craig, who, after serving as the frontman for a handful of bands, is readying his first solo project for a summer release. The first single, “The Lives We Live”, is another great Midnite track, fit with some impressively soulful vocals from Craig. Check it out, and get excited for the album set to release in the upcoming months.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Dillon Cooper – State of Elevation [Music Video]

Brooklyn boy, Dillon Cooper, recently shared his second video single off his highly anticipated debut project, Cozmik. Similar to his first release, Survival of the Fittest, Coop flexes on a 90’s sounding beat by Muvafux. Dillon elevates from his previous releases with ingenious wordplay, a smooth hook and an non stop energy in front of the camera. Release date for the mixtape is still unknown, but I’m confident Dillon won’t release this until he reaches a state of perfection.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Huey Mack – My Soul (Fallout Boy – Save Rock and Roll Remix) (Prod. Judge)
Posted by LoffyG on April 28, 2013
There’s no doubt that Huey Mack has been crushing the song cover game to hold us over while he prepares for his next project release. Produced by none other than Paul Judge, Huey takes on a remix of Fallout Boy’s “Save Rock and Roll“. The thing about Huey is that he makes many different types of music for his fans and many relate to tracks like this one, while still keeping an even balance for those who prefer the more upbeat “party” tracks. Nice work by Huey and Judge on this one.
Hip-Hop | OnCue – Live Forever ft. Skizzy Mars
Posted by Grubeats on April 3, 2013
We’ve seen several artists come into their own here at FNT. Many of which have signed records deals, had major hits, or seen a massive spike in their social following (I’m not referring to the ones who cheated and bought the numbers). Although Cuey has not yet had “that moment” per say, he has remained one of the most consistent, hungry, even keeled artists we feature. His head remains above the water while he plots his next move. He continues to develop with every release and is a true artist of his craft. His highly anticipated project, Angry Young Man, has been in the works for several months now and although this cut will not be on the project, it’s reassurance that it will be a worthwhile wait. You have to let the marinate to harness the flavors, right?
