Letter To The Industry Cover Art

3 million views after randomly deciding to do a remix to Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend”, Portland’s own PropaneLv drops off a formal mixtape of some of the best remix efforts in hiphop in the last year. Taking the traditional mixtape route, Lv comes together with HipHopEarly’s official DJ, DJ Reddy Rell, to drop the project. With the YouTube remix/cover/rendition lane a popular one in today’s industry, it’s done exactly what it needed to for Lv: solidify his talent and draw attention to his potential. On that note, he is very adamant that his debut album will be an eye opener this fall.

Varsity Blues drops September 30th.

Though I’m sure we will all enjoy the new perspective that his recent trip around the world afforded him, I’m very thankful Sol is back to making music. Armed with another beautiful, up-tempo, horn-laden backdrop provided by The Zillas, Sol shows that he hasn’t missed a step while away, garnering a large amount of momentum as his new EP Eyes Open nears. Take a listen below, cop it on iTunes, and get ready for what I wholeheartedly expect to be another great project from this talented Seattle emcee.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep | I Am Legion – Make Those Moves

I Am Legion - Make Those Moves

I am really excited to finally get to post this epic download from Noisia and the Foreign Beggars’ collaboration project, I Am Legion. This track has been owning my ears for weeks now and finally we can all have a good quality copy of it to blast through our speakers. “Make Those Moves” is the first Neuro-hop track we have heard from Noisia and I have to say it will definitely set the bar for the next generation of bass producers. Dubstep will soon take a backseat to this Hip-Hop and Neuro-funk infused genre.

The Chainsmokers are back with another remix. Surprisingly, I wasn’t that big a fan of their previous remix but I really enjoy this one. It seems they have carved out their own sub genre of progressive house mixed with indie and they do it well. For their latest project they took to remixing Smallpools’ “Dreaming” and they’ve done so in their typical fashion. This may be one of my favorites of theirs.

Hip-Hop | J.Cole – Let Nas Down (Remix ft. Nas)

“It’s just part of the game, becoming a rap king, my N*%*a you aint let Nas down”

Just like Kanye did in “Big Brother” with No I.D. being his mentor, young Jermaine decided to serenade his own mentor is Nas. Being a good mentor and all, Nas decided to hop on the track and spit a couple verses to his prodigy. The beat is perfect for the track, bringing a very 90s sound that made it seem like one Nas would have used. Born Sinner is hands down my favorite project that came out the 18th so if you have yet to grab it, I highly suggest doing so! Cole World.
