Hip-Hop | The Deep Boyz – Fast Lane (feat. Fly Ty)

Posted by on July 15, 2012

A name that many of you haven’t heard before, The Deep Boyz, have released their best(and latest) track to date. You haven’t heard the name before because this group hasn’t seen the blogosphere…ever. So you heard it here for ladies and gentleman. Destello, owner of the first verse, is shipping out to Afghanistan in a few weeks, so it seemed fitting to post one of his final tracks before he goes to serve our nation. The Deep Boyz have a style of street rap scantily seen on our college music blogs. Make sure you stop by Destello’s facebook and thank him for his service to our nation.

Drum & Bass | Drum & Bass Fraturday

Posted by on July 14, 2012

The weekly Drum & Bass post has seemed to be either on Fridays or Saturdays, mainly dependent on how satisfied we are with the Drum & Bass selection or how busy our Fridays tend to be. After drafting the post last night, I knew I had some great tracks for this post but was still disappointed in how much it actually contained. I am still not entirely satisfied, but some of these tracks can’t wait any longer.

First track is an awesome Reggae Hop styled Drum & Bass track from Jinx. With a little bit of Dub vibes as most Reggae has, this track is insanely catchy and addicting. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have already listened to it.

This next one is definitely the rare Drum & Bass funky party tune. Sampling some of the 90s babies favorite jams including beat sampling from Austin Power’s theme track and other Pop Culture references. A fun track to listen to or party to.

Although this is only a clip with no official release date, Mitis has been on roll lately. He has been dipping his toes in almost every electronic genre and taking names in the process. The Drum & Bass/Drumstep original of his is nuts, Mitis wastes no time in blowing your mind.

Hip-Hop, Videos | RiFF RaFF – LiL MAMA i’M SORRY

Posted by on July 6, 2012

Now usually “A” is the first to post good ole RiFF RAFF, but luckily I was able to snag it from him this time. What RiFF RAFF brings to the table is pure entertainment. Sure his lines are outrageous and even have my own father laughing at them, but that’s part of the appeal. He is the ultimate break from the normal and that’s why he is so awesome in my eyes…and A’s. With material and a personality like RiFF’s, don’t be surprised if he’s hanging around the RAP GAME for awhile. RAP GAME JAROMIR JAGR’S MULLET Sound off your best “RAP GAMES” in the comment section.

DO SOMETHING

Drum & Bass | Drum & Bass Friday

Posted by on June 23, 2012

Thanks to Technique Recordings, I was given the privilege to listen to this EP for almost two weeks now, and I just can not get enough of it. L Plus has put together a masterwork EP that is going to release in two days. Seriously, there are no disappointing tracks on this EP. Even the music video is unique and “Amazing” in itself, just like the Amazing EP. I recommend not sleeping on this one at all if you are a DnB fan. Since it is a Friday night and I am a little late on this post, I am sure you guys are just waiting for the tunes instead of my elegant and appealing descriptions. Given the circumstances I will just let you guys enjoy the tracks and critique them yourselves in the chat box. You guys won’t be so lucky next time though. Enjoy!

House | Stereoshock – Feeling That Melody

Posted by on June 19, 2012

NY’s very own Stereoshock amalgamates That Melody by Mark Simmons and Carita La Nina along with Make Me Feeling by Simone Farina, Alessandro Vinai and Andrea Vinai. The result is that track you’ve been yearning for, and eloquently depicts my lack of posts lately as an attempt to maintain this particular echelon of track. This entails that when I do post, you should expect nothing less than absurd. I figure, it’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt by posting anything less. Many of you can relate to the endless search for that diamond in the rough, and it’s tracks like this that restore faith and make it all the worthwhile.

Hip-Hop, Videos | I.O.U. – Lovely People (Video)

Posted by on June 17, 2012

I know this is a little late. But I’ve owed I.O.U. a post for a while. I enjoyed their first mixtape, said I would post it, and then totally forgot about. Then enjoyed this video, and totally forgot to post it. So I hope this post can win me back the favor of the northern duo of I.O.U. Choosing an interesting Beatles sample, the rap-rap duo of I.O.U. create something special with this J-Kill filmed piece. The first verse starts at around :45 seconds, and then is slowly and smoothly delivered by the first half of I.O.U, Andrew Buckner. It is then taken over by the other half of the two man team, Isaiah McNeill, delivering a much more thought-provoking – but still keeping the slow and smooth style, verse. Just take a second(or 3 minutes) out of your day to check out these two lovely people.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | XV – Pop Culture (Mixtape)

Posted by on June 15, 2012

Best mixtape of 2012. I know that’s not the best way to start out a post, but I had to make my feelings known to everyone before I embarked on the journey of trying to illustrate my feelings on this mixtape into a somewhat concise blog post. Wow that was a long sentence. Sorry, I’m rambling. Back to the mixtape. XV’s “Pop Culture” is absolutely off the charts, his beat selections are perfect, and his lyrics are witty, well delivered, and hard hitting. He goes from emotional songs, like “The Kick,” to high energy songs like “Her Favorite Song,” without missing a beat. He has some amazing features, including BoB, Schoolboy Q, and Emilio Rojas. On the production side, he lists his favorite beat maker, The Awesome Sound, along with Xaphoon Jones to craft the canvases he paints his pictures on. It’s an incredibly well rounded and diverse mixtape, and I think it has something for everyone.

XV’s “Zero Heroes” was my favorite mixtape of 2011, so let’s hope “Pop Culture” holds it’s spot as my favorite mixtape of 2012.
