Dillon Francis has been a generous man recently. First he gave away his “Suit and Tie” remix for the multi-talented Justin Timberlake, and now he is giving away his remix for Passion Pit‘s single “Carried Away“. Whether it was an issue with labels and release dates, or he just had a I.D.G.A.F.O.S attitude and wanted to give away free music because cats, internet, DJ awareness, taco bell, paypal and stuff, we are not complaining.
This remix displays the versatility that Dillon Francis continues to show with each production, bringing the track down to a 112 BPM moombahton tempo and then adding an acid fueled bass line that meshes quite well with the slowed down pace of the track and the indie vocals and style of the original. Passion Pit has been a popular band to remix, garnering remixes by styles ranging from trap to dubstep to electro house and this one from Dillon Francis has to sit near the top of the list for not only them, but also among his illustrious list of remixes as well.

Viceroy makes the winter months that much easier for those of us living in the frigid North. Injecting his Summertime, All The Time atitude in Passion’s Pit’s popular hit, “Carried Away”, off their recent album, Gossamer, the Cali party starter keeps the foundation but adds his uptempo electric punch. New York native dBerrie gives us another quality progressive take on Passion Pit’s single “Take A Walk”. He utilizes Passion Pit’s vocals to his advantage while adding churning synths, a hard clap, moving progressive synths and chopped distorted synths. This may be the remix that changes the most of the original track and is very good, though The M Machine remix still takes the cake for me.
BURNS puts together a great remix with a trapeqsue bass line that is sure to have your head bobbing. It flows so well with the smooth melodies provided by the Passion Pit. Indie, Progressive House | Passion Pit – Take A Walk (The M Machine Remix)

The M Machine takes this great Passion Pit song (if you didn’t already get the original, head over to iTunes now and get it) and adds a progressive house flare to it. After seeing them put on a clinic at Starscape, I knew that this one was going to be great. They keep much of the original work by Passion Pit, using the horns and intricate melodies crafted by Passion Pit in the build leading into a massive progressive house drop. They utilize the vocals perfectly, add uplifting synth chords and a driving bass, making this a must have for all house or indie fans out there. The best part? It is free! Also below is another remix of “Take A Walk” from Peking Duk that slows it down a little, using the main melody of the original track as the central theme, while adding a grungy synth to the drop.

Fresh off his trip to L.A. for the video shoot for “Firestarter,” Kenton Dunson put together a nice little video detailing his trip as well as giving us a sneak peak of his upcoming music video and short film based on his song “Firestarter.” The music video for “Firestarter” should be released in the next couple weeks with the short film debuting shortly after.
The background music to the video is his latest release “Top of the World,” which contains a smooth Passion Pit sample and has been blazing a trail on the internet lately.
