Dubstep, Review | Cookie Monsta – Riot! EP

Posted by on April 3, 2012

When it comes to filthy dubstep, the artists that come to mind are usually Circus Record’s own FuntCase and Cookie Monsta. The filth monger Cookie Monsta dropped his new EP, ‘Riot!’ today, and there is no doubt that he out did himself again. Cookie doesn’t need to make a name for himself, just about everything he releases is dirty gold.

The title track ‘Riot’ I assume to be influenced greatly by number of riots that have been held recently in England. Cookie Monsta definitely inspires people to stand up…on cars and well… RIOT! The track is filthy, destroying your ear drums one decible at a time. Videogames seem to inspire all of us nerds in some way, in the case of ‘Level Up,’ the 8 bit sound effects just lead up to the finishing blow, #1-up. Between ‘Time To Get Crunk’ and ‘HedRokkA’ I couldn’t decide which one was my favorite on the EP. coming in second place is ‘Time To Get Crunk,’ sampling Mad Decent’s Lil Jon (that is correct, Lil Jon was signed onto Mad Decent by Diplo). I love the pace of this track, it starts off fast drumstep/drum & bass and halfway through Cookie takes it down a notch for us to enjoy a slower nasty drop. Sev and I both agree that ‘HedRokkA’ is the filthiest track on this release. Smooth and grimy, this track is nothing short of a panty wetter, and for guys it is like if Borgore just created a website to post up all the “submissions” he receives from the ladies. Dubstep fans, this EP is a must have. Buy it, rip it, torrent it, what ever you have to do to get it, because you need this.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Ess Vee – Feel Music (FNT Exclusive)

Posted by on March 8, 2012

Quite frankly, I’m floating in the ocean/Novacane feeling drowning with my eyes open/You know the same feeling staring at the sky hoping/cause you feel your souls broken and you have no emotion.

More than a series of notes and rhythm, music is a universal language. It can reach deep into the human spirit. It can inspire creativity, or take us to the depths of despair. Music can calm inner turmoil or set the pace for revolution and violence. Most importantly, music has the ability to change lives. Indeed, Ess Vee is doing just that with the release of his “Feel Music” video off his critically acclaimed “The Veelude” project. Produced by Stas Mavrodi, “Feel Music” is reflective as it is introspective- inviting the listener to experience a musical catharsis with the addition of an extra verse. Don’t call this Irvington representer crazy, his reality is just different from yours.  As a bonus, I’ve included his entire “The Veelude” project for download below. Like marcel the shell, hit “read on” for the tracklist. Special thanks to The Association Music Group.

Dubstep | Culprate & Deadpool

Posted by on March 1, 2012

Culprate’s Tentacle VIP and Deadpool’s remix of Prepare To Die are best described as Fire and Ice; polar opposites of each other. Culprate’s VIP is a nice melodic dubstep work of art. The intro builds up with a nice piano sounding synth into an almost jazz/blues sounding drop where the snares and drums pick up the pace. A true melodic masterpiece from Culprate. Now we move to the other side of the spectrum, which in this case is Deadpool’s remix of Bare Noize’s Prepare To Die. The best way to describe this track is to “Insert UKF filth comment here”. Caution: the drop will melt your subs.

Electro-House | Jennifer Lopez ft. Pitbull – Papi (Sidney Samson Remix)

Posted by on January 27, 2012

Sidney Samson has given out this remix of J Lo and Pitbull’s hit single “Papi” that is a change of pace from the very bleepy, dutch house he has been doing of late. While I cannot say I am the biggest Sidney Samson fan, one cannot deny his impact on the founding of Dutch House and impact on EDM in general, but this track shows his production skills with a heavy electro style that everyone will be able to enjoy.

Hip-Hop | Dibia$e & Versis and Logic

Posted by on December 9, 2011

I have been watching this video all day long. The video itself is cool and creative, the verses are smooth and some of the chillest I have heard in some time. I like a change of pace in my hip-hop. Dibia$e & Versis are giving away this track to build up to Dibia$e upcoming instrumental album, SOUND PLACE, set to drop December 13th.

I am not sure how we didn’t have this track posted yet. I have been listening to it for a couple of days now, and have been in absolute love with it. Grubeats got me hooked on Logic’s mixtape, Young Sinatra. If you haven’t listened to it yet, it’s a revelation. This newest track of his is incredible, his verses are nothing short of the best and the hook is something to put you in the best of moods. Enjoy.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep | Tantrum Desire – Reach (Push the Feeling) (Remixes EP)

Posted by on November 27, 2011

Tantrum Desire releasing a great remix EP for their new single Reach. The single is a dope Drum & Bass track, accompanied by great female vocals. However if DnB is a little too fast pace for you check out the Dubstep remix, which is just as good. If you are looking for a combination of the two then head straight for the L Plus remix. All three tracks are great, so make sure to give each one a listen.

Indie | Bijan – Letters

Posted by on November 3, 2011

I’m not serving the average cup of FNT banger or hip hop tea with this one. Much to the contrary, this is caught somewhere in between an indie hop and Grieves track. I can definitely dig the change of pace, hopefully you can too…
