Today is October 1st, which means in 16 short days Fresh New Tracks will be jetting off to the Netherlands for ADE: Amsterdam Dance Event, a five-day electronic music festival, conference, and playground taking over the city. Leading up to ADE, we’ll be filling you in on just who and what we’re looking forward to seeing most. And if any of you out there have any insider tips on the best acts to catch, drop either VMan or myself a line and we’ll be sure to add it to our list.
After browsing through the hundreds of artists set to play at ADE, Kastle’s name was the one that lingered with me the most. The producer//philosopher has beautifully maintained a characteristic, innovative sound over the period of his career thus far. If there’s any slight possibility you’ve found yourself unacquainted with Kastle and his work (which really shouldn’t be the case), then let us give you a little background. Kastle’s music tests the limits of art and expression, ranging all the way across the spectrum from electronic dub, garage, and house to R&B and hip-hop. Kastle himself, also known as Barrett Richards, is in an artistic sense a renaissance man by constantly exploring the virtues of all forms of art and philosophy. Browsing his Facebook, you might stumble upon an assortment of great music along and thought-provoking quotations with corresponding photos. I’m particularly fond of his Tumblr, which is almost like a window into Kastle’s seemingly infinite pool of inspiration.
Kastle will be headlining the Plafonddienst showcase at The Sugar Factory Thursday, October 17th. Joining him will be Liar, one of the newest additions to Kastle’s very own label, Symbols Recordings, and Tourist of the UK. I’ve heard rumors of these artists putting on live sets that are high energy and perhaps different than their typical sound, so I’m pretty anxious to see what these guys throw down. Keeping my fingers crossed for the Ellie Goulding remix Kastle dropped just a few days ago… (which is available for free download!)

After releasing nothing all year, Dimitri Vangelis and Wyman are on a tear, releasing their “People Of The Night” remix on Monday and now revealing their next single “Silver Sun”, which will be the anthem of Lights Festival in Stockholm on November 30th. Festival anthems tend to be not that great, but wow this not only shatters that expectation, but may also be the Stockholm based duo’s best track to date. The track comes out September 27th exclusively on Spotify (don’t get why labels do that) and then will be released on all other portals October 22nd. For all Europeans, get info on the festival here.

October 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20th, for 5 days in October, Amsterdam is about to be taken over by the worldwide Dance community, along with Mimada, and yours truly! Both Mimada and I will be representing FNT, attending shows by DJ Shadow, Calvin Harris, Afrojack, Tiesto, and many more! Over 50 venues spread out through out the Dutch city, will be hosting top notch producers and DJs, from happy hour to the early morning. Not only will we be attending shows, we will also be attending the ADE Playground and Conference, reporting and testing out all the new innovative technology that producers and DJs are using, along with listening to a list of panels on the current state of the EDM scene, and what can be done to move forward. Mimada and I will also be the first to know the top 100 DJ Mag list for 2013, as the list will be announced at the ADE!
FNT has always supported the EDM, Dance scene from the get, allowing many DJs and producers from all over the world to be introduced to the American market. We are proud to be attending the conference, and we look forward to partaking in this worldwide event. Last month Huey Mack announced the release date of his debut album Pretending Perfection. Today he finally released the first single “Be Alright” featuring none other than Mike Stud. The album is set to drop October 15th via iTunes. Huey is also gearing up for the Pretending Perfection Tour which begins on October 25th in New York, NY. Be sure to grab the album when it drops and catch him at a date near you!

Here’s a sweet free remix from The Ninetys for your weekend playlist! This remix of “Nolita” by Gilbre Forte is mesmerizing and expertly produced. The Ninetys just has a way with percussion that makes my ears very happy. This trap track is breathtaking and easy to get lost in. The Ninetys will be releasing an EP on October 7th and this song is proof that we should all be excited!

We have already introduced you to these two super talented Italians, so I don’t have to tell who they are again, but I will hammer in the point that these guys are set to be the next big thing in dance music. This remix has already been played by Tiesto, Matisse & Sadko & Judge Jules, with more support surely coming. They go for a big, bold melody, injecting their own sound into the big-room original from Osen, using Baha‘s vocals to their advantage. Look for this on Cr2 Records, October 7th.
