Well, top of the morning to all you champions of the sun out there on this fine Wednesday. My late night prowling led me to discover the sexy sounds of the revered King Henry and I’d be delighted to share my findings with you. This LA-based producer takes on current trends in music and turns them completely inside out in this awesome, enriching and totally satisfying manner. It’s a little trillwave mixed with trap and bouncin’ beats, one song he even identifies as “comic trap.” It’s the kind of stuff you can put on at parties to intrigue//impress all your friends, or just chill out and listen to in the comfort of your own bed. It’s versatile, it’s groovy, and it’s rad. I pulled a couple songs that might lure you in, Dayman in particular being my favorite. If you think it’s good, just wait till the final drop at the end of the song and then you’ll realize this King Henry isn’t jousting — er, joking around.

Did you catch Kaskade’s Redux tour? I did (the above pic is actually from the stop I hit, so I’m somewhere in that rowdy, sweaty crew) and it was an absolutely amazing night. This remix of his beloved classic “Raining” was one of the mainstays on Redux and unsurprisingly drew quite the reaction when it dropped here in DC. Of course, deep house isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but Sunsun’s vocals work perfectly with the track’s chilled out vibes.

I get it. Now unless you’re one of those hyper motivated freaks who’s already made your protein shake, gone on a 5-mile run and is finishing up assignments for next week, you’re going to need something to get your blood flowing. I got just the thing and it’s BEND’s latest release, Short Crush. So here’s what you’re gonna do: download this song, crank it up bit by bit and watch as you gradually float out from under the covers and conquer the day (well, whatever’s left of it anyways).

Much like the overweight girl with a great personality, The Chainsmokers have, for the most part, been ignored. Ignored by unattractive girls and the aforementioned overweight girl that is, because they know they have no chance with these guys. Damn they’re attractive. I haven’t actually seen them, except in my dreams, but I imagine with their multiple 100k plus played tracks on Soundcloud that it would be so. Continuing their trend of remixing indie bands, the duo have decided to take a spin at remixing Phoenix’s “Trying To Be Cool”. If you know of The Chainsmokers then you know what to expect from this. A fun, upbeat song with a hint of both house and indie. They have definitely done this track justice, with this possibly being better than the original.

Trap, Videos | Keys N Krates – Treat Me Right

I first stumbled upon Keys N Krates at a showcase during SXSW a few months back. As soon as this Toronto-based trio hit the stage that night, I was captivated by their dynamic. These guys have a certain sound and stage presence that’s hard for me to describe, but looking around the room I started to notice that everyone else had the same blank stare on their faces, which soon turned into a unified head nod to the beat. Their sound was so fresh and flow so seamless that before we knew it, the set was over and the crowd rushed the stage begging for more. It was a small crowd, but one of the most enthusiastic, I remember that.
Anyways, this track was one of the most memorable and it’s hard not to catch yourself bouncing along it. I love the thematic transition in tune with the song, along with how in the end, the femme-fatale turned deviant heroine prevails, muahaha!
Smacks these guys right in the middle of your radar, stat.

Electro-House | Night Crime & Fyor – Rage

About time someone just flat out said” Let’s F***ing Rage”, how is that not a reoccurring sample in music? Night Crimes and Fyor clearly understand the art of raging. This bumping original sets the mood just right for a night out with no worries but remembering to wear comfortable shoes. Hit play and tear down the house to this bad boy.
