Videos | Mac Miller Explains “Blue Slide Park” Title
Posted by BIGLIFE on July 27, 2011
Props to MTV for asking this question and even bigger props to Mac Miller for providing a thoughtful response. Nowadays album titles, song titles, etc seem like mindless tasks for some artists, but fortunately this restored some of my faith in the artists that run this hip hop show. More importantly, this just goes to show how invested and passionate Miller is about his music career.

Apache Chief has been bouncing around the electro-pop scene for a minute, but recently started making waves with his latest single. “Birthday Suit” has been getting top 40 radio play across the nation & has already received notable attention from major music labels as well as MTV, who has it up for consideration for The Jersey Shore Soundtrack. What do you guys think?

I first heard about Ranidu from one of our Affiliate Artists who just may be planning a smash single with this Sinhalese sensation. Ranidu is the first Sinhalese artist to be played on the venerated Radio1 of the BBC and also the creator of the first Sinhalese single to be played on MTV. With a resume like this it’s about time the FNT nation lent him an ear.. For more from Ranidu check out his facebook

Mashups | MASHUPS | Kap Slap 151 Mixtape
Posted by Juicebox on January 6, 2011
About a week ago we posted one of the best mashups I’ve heard this year which utilized one of the most monumental tracks to hit the United States in a while; Edward Maya’s “Stereo Dream.” The original track provides enough of a mainstream house feel that is made it to MTV and radios all over the nation, which (quote me on this) will take that annoying girl in your business administration class from saying she hates techno (when she really means electro), to saying Deadmau5 and Rusko are her favorite artists (kill me). REGARDLESS, Kap Slap is about to drop a massive DUBSTEP mashup featuring some of my favorite songs (Flux Pavilion’s remix of cracks, and a little skrillex) look out for that, we’ll be posting that the second it drops! Do your self a favor and download these and the entire mixtape HERE.

Hip-Hop | HIP-HOP | Eminem – Difficult
Posted by BIGLIFE on December 31, 2010
Here’s a heartfelt track by the legend who has taken the month of December by storm with his blog chart topping tracks. This hookless song, with meaningful lyrics that make up for any missing elements, deserves to be single posted – if only to show some degree of respect for a guy who publicly addressed his pain through music. The line about buying presents for the kids of his fallen friend touched a soft spot in me. MTV covered this track so I’ll let them do the talking…
Eminem has always maintained that the death of his best friend and D12 member Proof was one of the most devastating moments of his life, and four years after his passing, Eminem is still upholding the late MC’s legacy in his music.
On Thursday (December 30), the Em track “Difficult” surfaced on the Web, in which the Detroit lyricist devotes several bars to his relationship with his fallen homey — who was gunned down in a Motor City nightclub in 2006 — and how the memory of his trusted friend still lingers.
