Dubstep | R Rated #54

Posted by on November 8, 2012

With Krewella’s Play Hard Remix EP in the making, we are seeing some glimpses of their remixes surfacing rapidly. This week we got two free remixes of Krewella’s tracks, one from Culture Code and the other from The Pegboard Nerds. Both artist take a different take on their given tracks; With Culture code providing us with one of their melodic, trancey styled tracks they have been tearing the stages with. On the other hand we have Pegboard Nerds delivering another stellar heavy tune with some funky synths and aggressive growls.

Although we already posted Dirtyphonics latest single along with the remixes entitled “DIRTY”, we couldn’t keep out this new freebie given away that wasn’t on the EP. Synchronice nailed this remix giving it even more heavy bass and crazier synths than the original. This one definitely takes the top spot for my favorite remix of this track. You can grab the download HERE or below.

Although these next two tracks aren’t exactly “filthy” tracks, they earned their spots on R Rated. Minnesota has created some heavy tracks in his day, but lately he has been leaning more towards creating appealing melodic tracks and they definitely seem to be working. This Adventure Club remix sets the mood for a nice autumn afternoon.

Continuing on with the melodic tracks, this next one is by the Inspected ‘Dream Team’. Yes the record label Inspected was able to round up some of the biggest names under their label to create this next masterpiece in celebration of Movember. Gemini, Asa, Culprate, and KOAN Sounds collaborated on this next piece to create a unique melodic track.

To cap off R Rated, our very own Mach threw together this heavy mix. Don’t take this caution lightly, but if you can’t handle a hour and fifteen minutes of filth then this mix isn’t for you. Download the mix HERE. Read on below for the track list.

Dubstep | R Rated #51

Boom! Counterstrike just dropped this insane preview of one of their upcoming tracks off their “Fire” EP, dropping November 5th. The EP has quite a few awesome collaborations including one with the Black Sun Empire. This preview, though short, is epic, can’t wait for the EPs release.

KDrew does it again. The intro is awesome and just made me highly anticipatory for the drop. Completely exceeded my expectations.

RoughMath (previously Noir) is one of my favorite up and coming Dubstep producers. His tracks are always a perfect blend of melodic and filth, a difficult combination these days. Probably because he’s not trying to be like Skrillex like every other Dubstep artist, finding his own place within the genre.

I promised myself that I wouldn’t post anymore of these “Make It Bun Dem” remixes, this has to be one of the coolest I have heard. Cottonmouth has created some of the dopest remixes, mainly taking originals no one has ever heard. He used one of the coolest bass synths for this drop, it completely makes me careless of the fact its another remix of the original.

Dubstep | Seven Lions ft. Birds of Paradise – She Was

Posted by on October 12, 2012

The master of melodic dubstep, Seven Lions, has graced his fans with another free release from his upcoming EP. After having given away Isis before his release of ‘Polarized EP’, this time his soothing, euphoric track She Was was the choice of giveaway. With his graceful melodies and basslines, Seven Lions produces nothing but top quality tunes so not downloading such an amazing masterpiece would just be foolish. He is one of those artist for me that send me straight to the download button before I even listen to the track.

Dubstep | R Rated #50!

Posted by on October 11, 2012

Fifty weeks of R Rated and yet again we aren’t slowing down anytime soon. With classes ramming ridiculous amounts of work into our faces you would think there would be a few skipped editions of R Rated, but we just can’t do that to our fans. With that said Mach came up with the brilliant idea to celebrate this joyous occasion by ramming you guys with even more tracks than we usually do, so let the filth overload begin.

Xilent is on the verge of another monstrous EP release through Audioporn Records and we all know there is no better way to hype the fans than giving away a free track from his EP. This track is that heavy melodic style Xilent is so great at producing, sprinkled with a some grime lyrics courtesy of Youthstar to add a hip hop feeling to it.

This next one is a little exception to R Rated. We usually stay away from posting DnB into R Rated, because we save it for Dnb Friday’s, but when Noisia posts something on their Soundcloud from another artist, you know it is no joke. With Noisia being one of the best sound engineers to ever grace the EDM scene it is obvious they push to get the closest in sound perfection when it comes to creating and mastering tracks. The Upbeats seem to be a new favorite for these guys and with that we can hear the Nero-funk influence from Noisia throughout a few of their recent tracks including this dark tune.

LabRat has grown significantly as a producer ever since we started following him and posting his tracks a few months back. With the Halo soundtrack remix competition in progress we are seeing the spur of remixes popping up everywhere. With that said many artist are choosing to stay ont he epic, melodic path that the Halo soundtracks usually stray towards, but LabRat takes the heavy, grimy path.

Electronic, Glitch | Jayglow – Final Scenes EP

Posted by on October 9, 2012

Inspected is a label known for having a vast variety of genres released from all sorts of artist. They supply their fans with everything from the heaviest of the heavy to the most melodic of tunes. Their latest release comes from an artist known for his incorporation of funk into his glich styled tunes, Jayglo. His newest EP on Inspected entitled “Finals Scenes”  encompasses some jazz influenced, gliched out tracks that bring something fresh to its listeners. Jayglo keeps a great upbeat melody in all the tracks adding along his addition of heavy synths through to go along with the hip-hop style sounds. I had no intention of posting the EP, but after one listen through the EP I was hooked right away. Grab the EP off of Beatport HERE.

Dubstep | R Rated #49

The picture for this post is about to make sense. The track below has a music video, this video is NSFW but it is something that is different from most videos of this nature. Considering that I decided the video was just not safe enough to post up, but if you took the time to read this then click HERE. The track itself is sick, Ninja Kore did an outstanding job on this filth.

Bassex has been an artist I have been following for a long time now, he has even made it up on FNT quite a few times now. This upcoming remix has an interesting twist of melodic with filth. The vocal samples seem unnecessary but the instrumental alone are worth it. The remix drops October 18th.

This year was supposed to belong to Alvin Risk, but instead he release a less than satisfactory EP…and that was pretty much it. Like Skrillex, he is sitting on countless mind-blowing unreleased tracks, but he lacks the fan support his mentor has and should really start releasing more. This remix of his is off the new Halo soundtrack. This remix destroys, it makes you reevaluate Alvin’s future…for now.

I know, there are not enough free downloads on this weeks R Rated, but do not fear for next week is our 50th installment. For now let this tide you over for what is to come. Torus has not released a freebie in some time, this remix is epically pleasing. The drop happens without warning, making you wonder if you are even still on the same planet.

Dubstep | MitiS – Born

Posted by on September 27, 2012

Philly-based producer and classically trained pianist MitiS is rapidly establishing himself as one of the go-to sources for chill, harmonic dubstep and floaty progressive house. While he used to deal primarily in much heavier dubstep and drumstep, his knack for melody was always apparent — as is perhaps to be expected of someone with his musical background. His latest, “Born,” is a warm and dreamy confection, and the broken bassline only serves to heighten the track’s almost surreal quality. Check out his Soundcloud for more downloads.

Bonus track: MitiS – Life of Sin (Pt. 2)
