Dear Niykee,
Please consider this my formal blogposal. I’m not sure what planet you came from or what your parents did to birth such an Alpha angel, but you’re here now. Don’t pay mind to the fact you weren’t even born and I was already crushing pogs with my gold plated slammer while eating lunchables like a king. Or to the fact that I didn’t get my first cell phone ’til I was your age (today). Yeah, it was that long ago. Or to the fact that your clothing style is now retro to me because I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and WE invented swag. Or to the fact I was alive for Tupac’s reign. Bottom line is, I’m open to the idea of twerking. I have a cell phone now, an iPhone 4s in fact. I’ve also got a walkman, a cassette player, a VCR, a floppy disk, and one of the first mp3 players if you ever want a history lesson. We can make it work., I promise.
If and when you read this, kindly send me your acceptance via Snapchat (@Grube) or Vine (@Grubeats).
Sincerely,
P.S. I’ll throw my 401k on a Niykee vs. Miley twerk off, any day of the week.
Oh yeah, for those of you who want the download for this #CrackTrack song, don’t forget to cop that free here, and follow my wifey on Twitter, Youtube, & Facebook.
Electro, Trap | Machel Montano – The Fog (Major Lazer & Grandtheft Remix)
Posted by Middy on July 15, 2013
Major Lazer are known for the wide range of musical influences and styles that they draw on and look to incorporate into their music. Whether it is their original work or remixes, they always bring something new to the table. In this latest remix with trap up-and-comer Grandtheft, they take this recent dance hall original from Machel Montano and add slight changes to make it their own. Instead of going for what has been their hallmark lately in trap, they stylize the remix around the dance hall sound, with chunky drums and synths that add an extra element to the track. The remix is free so be sure to grab this one below.
Electronic | Banks – Warm Water (Snakehips Remix)
Posted by mimada on July 10, 2013
It’s safe to say enough time has passed since the last remix of a Banks song occurred that we can pass on the torch to another. Honestly, Djemba Djemba made it virtually impossible for anyone to even try and level up in the wake of his “Fall Over” remix. But there seems the musical gods has chosen Snakehips as the fateful predecessor.
Snakehips did what needed to be done and took this remix in a completely different direction than the above. It’s also more turned down than their latest release, “Make It.” But this remix stays true to the beauty and intimacy of the original, yet sprinkles some of that vinyl scratch and groovy beats that are so quintessentially Snakehips right on top. Have I tempted you enough yet to give it a try? Don’t be shy, the water’s warm.

Dubstep, Exclusive, Featured, House, Preview | BeatauCue – Aeropolis + Others Remix (Preview) [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by Middy on July 10, 2013
As head of forward thinking label Kitsuné, French duo BeatauCue, are known for their funky, groovy originals and remixes that may not put them on the MainStage, but it has earned them the respect as both outstanding producers and label owners. They have given us the opportunity to exclusively preview their upcoming single “Aeropolis”, set for release August 5th on their label Kistuné, along with one of the remixes on the package from London dubstep artist The Others. The original calls to mind a bit of an Eric Prydz sound with its rolling bass line, a strong groove and punchy and unrelenting synth chords that culminate in a huge danceable drop. The Others derives his builds from the original, but true to his sound adds deep, heavy, sub rattling growls and an ominous lead to flip the script on this track and make it his own bass heavy addition. Look for these on July 29th with additional remixes from Neosignal and Slick Shoota, which you preview in the minimix below.
Hip-Hop | Mike Stud – Used To Be (Prod. Jon Kilmer & One Love)
Posted by LoffyG on July 1, 2013
Last night Mile Stud dropped a new #SundayStudDay installment. This week’s song “Used To Be” was originally meant for the Relief album but didn’t make the final cut. This is a slower song and has a different feel compared to the other tracks that make the album so I see why it didn’t make it, but it’s still good and needs to be heard. Catch Mike Stud on The Relief Tour now and grab his album if you haven’t!
Electro, Trap | Snakehips – Make It
Posted by mimada on June 10, 2013
Snakehips dropped this track yesterday to “tie us over” as they continue working in the studio on their next single. If this what they scrounged up just to keep us busy then I don’t think my body is ready for what they’re about to release. Guess I’ll just have to get out all my excitement by bumpin’ along to this bad boy (shouldn’t be too hard). I wasn’t sure how to go about describing this to the virgin ear, so after perusing through the comments a little bit I pulled some helpful hints — “massive,” “outer space realness,” and my favorite, “dip swang.” So don’t be fooled by the gentle intro, this song will knock you OUT.
Check it.

Videos | The Case For Collin McLoughlin
Posted by Juicebox on September 29, 2010
I get a lot of submission e-mails a day. I mean, a lot. It’s almost nauseating. I get an e-mail everyday telling me that it would be “in my best interest” to post their song on my site or “my music is really popular so you should post it”. Yada yada yada… To be frank, music blogging has jaded me slightly. I got into this game because I truly had a deep seeded passion for music. Now, I frantically sift through emails and various sites looking for the newest song to post on time so I don’t have to hear it on the chat box. In a sense, blogging has taken a lot of the fun out of the music for me.
I remember the first time I received an e-mail from Collin’s camp. Not only was his e-mail short and to the point, it wasn’t pushy. It wasn’t prideful. It certainly wasn’t arrogant. He simply let the music speak for itself.
When I clicked “play” Collin’s voice jumped out of my g-mail and hit me in the face like a train. I was stunned. I was surprised. I was impressed. As “Back To The Wall” played through my speakers, I knew I was listening to a talent that was not only special but unique. That night, I went through countless youtube videos of him performing. (The one above is perhaps one of my favorites). I knew when I laid my eyes and ears on Collin’s music, he was something special.
Part of the fun of this site is seeing artists come and go. It’s fun to watch them employ their “market strategies” and extend their friendships to me via a social networking site even though it’s simply artificial. I don’t fault them, they’re just trying to get on “another” blog. I mean common, how hard can it be to get a post? I realize most artists are friendly to bloggers out of obligation. I know what they’re after. I don’t mind making posts, I just don’t like the fakery. (If you are fake, try to make it less obvious next time).
I have chosen to put the spotlight on Collin because I feel he stands for everything that isn’t fake. Collin McLoughlin’s music and person have a central theme in common, they’re authentic. Not only do I believe in his music, I believe in him as a person. This is what the music industry lacks these days. It’s just a bunch of money hungry label execs looking for a quick buck to make in a slowly dying industry. To eloquently quote Kanye West, “Does anyone make real s*** anymore?”
To make it in this industry, you have to have solid music. It’s a prerequisite. You either have it or you don’t. No amount of social networking, posts on Fresh New Tracks, or clothes can get you a record deal. You are either talented enough to make it or not.
That’s kind of how life works doesn’t it? Whether you’re an aspiring artist making songs in your bedroom on garage band, or you’re a Political Science major trying to get into Law School, it comes down to talent. That’s not to say that hard work isn’t necessary (it is) but there’s an intrinsic amount of talent that is given to us upon birth. We shape our destiny by cultivating our talent and using it to the best of our abilities.
Collin has chosen a difficult but potentially rewarding path. It’s a path that will invariably have its ups and downs. However, I am of the strong opinion that Collin will come out on top. Why? Barring the fact he’s a shoe in for record labels based on his talent, he’s also a quality person. It’s not enough these days to just be a good artist. You have to also be well rounded. You have to know how to relate to others. You have to have the humility to let the music simply speak for itself.
Every once in a while artists like Collin re-energize my passion for music and remind me why I blog. Collin is currently working on his debut EP that is slated to drop sometime this year. I want to share with you in advance that’s is truly something special. I believe in Collin McLoughlin. I hope that as he drops more songs in the near future, you come to believe in him too.
