Electro-House | Zedd – Slam The Door
Posted by Middy on January 3, 2012
Zedd is back with yet another single that is bound to be a big hit with a great vocal sample and a great bass line that will surely have you moving. The build starts with some pitched synths and piano and then crescendos into some heavy electro to create this fine work from Zedd. Get it on BEATPORT.

Dubstep | The Weeknd – D.D. (Samples Remix)

I have been waiting for a sweet remix of new The Weeknd. Didn’t think my favorite remix of D.D. would be a dubstep one, but it doesn’t matter. This remix is sick, at first I was expecting a melodic dubstep bass-line, so I was surprised to hear the semi-filthy drop. Samples did a great job to not over power The Weeknds great vocals when meshing them together with the dubstep. All-in-all, this is a sexy remix.

Electro-House | Michael Canitrot – White Escape + Blue Collision
Posted by Middy on December 26, 2011

Michael Canitrot, the up and coming French Dj, known for his summer smash, “When You Got Love” is back again with another single, “White Escape”, just released today out on his own label Aime Music that is sure to be played by many this winter. It has a grungy synth line with a hard bass with some spacey synths in the break and good piano motif in the build. Get it on BEATPORT.

Blue Collision came out a few weeks ago and is picking up steam in popularity. Each time I listen it gets better. It has a hard electro synth undertone with a guitar riff over it and a driving bass with a sensitive piano in the build for a great contrast. Get it on BEATPORT.

Hip-Hop | Bizzy Crook-Heartbreaker
Posted by ATexas on November 9, 2011

Done and Done. Give me a rap song with an original sample and you’ve got me hook, line and sinker. Produced by Jocko and on Bizzy Crook’s new mixtape “P.S I’m Sorry,”(Dropped on November 3rd) Bizzy Crook samples Pat Benatar’s timeless classic “Heartbreaker.” The spits are dope, the beat is unreal and I’m bobbing my head. Maybe because Pat is a badass betch or maybe because its a solid song. I vote both.

I’ve got only one principle when it comes to music, anything unique goes right to the front of the line, which is very few considering the many. It’s clear to me, electro music needs a transformation from the generic state it’s heading in. Lately, I’m hearing one continuous track with new bells and whistles, on rare occasions I notice the track has changed. Likely the reason for this, creation has no motivation. You can’t put energy into being unique, if you could its been done already. There is no formula to being the first at originating something new. Tesla, the man who created the modern world said ”I did not invent, I discovered what was there to find.”.
A young man began a correspondence with Mozart, and the following was said:
Q: “Herr Mozart, I am thinking of writing symphonies. Can you give me any suggestions as to how to get started.”
A: “A symphony is a very complex musical form, perhaps you should begin with some simple lieder and work your way up to a symphony.”
Q: “But Herr Mozart, you were writing symphonies when you were 8 years old.”
A: “But I never asked anybody how.”
I’d say, artists that rarely get inspired are the ones most adored. I’ve personally grown so dependant on artists to produce for me, so purely a consumer of music, expecting my fix, judging them because I’ve lost all my own creative abilities to make a difference.
Hip-Hop | Yelawolf, Rick Ross ft. Nicki Minaj

Its tough to picture Yelawolf going in on an RnB track, and I think this is going to be as close as we’ll get to hearing that. That being said, Yela adds a his unique touch to this hook. If you’re turned off by the first few seconds of the track, just hang in there, it gets sick after the drop.

Just from this line alone, this track gets our seal of approval.
