Albums | Josh Teed drops “Just Breathe”
Posted by VMan on February 9, 2024
Denver-based experimental bass producer and violinist Josh Teed has made a name for himself through his distinct approach to electronic music.
Blending expertly crafted, left-of-center bass sound design, symphonic instrumentation, and lush, ethereal atmospheres, Josh Teed’s style has led him to touring slots with big name bass acts such as CloZee, Dirtwire, and Koan Sound; a performance at a Pretty Lights Official Pre Party; releases on influential label Gravitas; and collaborations with artists such as Chmura, Notlö, and more.
Now, following the release of his 2022 full-length album Recurring Dream and subsequent remix album, Josh Teed is revving up towards his next EP, Taking It All In – a 6-track package being released via The Gradient Perspective Records.
Filled to the brim with cinematic electronic stylings and Teed’s signature bass production, the artist designed his new EP to be a reflection of his life journey thus far. Having grown up in New Hampshire, lived in Vietnam as a basketball player and coach, and then entered the music industry as a bass music disruptor, Taking It All In represents a rumination on life’s twists and turns – and acts a reminder to cherish every moment and embrace whatever might come your way.
As a result, Josh Teed’s new EP retains many of the elements his fans have grown to love while pushing his sound into new directions. With a further emphasis on melodic expression, lead vocals, and granular synthesis, Taking It All In seamlessly blends pop sensibilities with intricate production flourishes, a combination that marks a new sonic turn in Teed’s career.
“‘Just Breathe’ was one of my favorite tracks to work on from this upcoming EP. The combination of Chuuwee’s lyrical skills and Logan’s (Bl?m) beautiful voice really make for a unique, soulful vibe in this tune. This EP was about stepping out of my normal wheelhouse, and this track is the one that puts that approach on full display.
“As for the tour, this will be my 3rd national headline tour, and I wanted to push myself to make this one the best yet. I’ll be adding piano and electronic drum pad into my sets alongside the violin now, and will be carefully curating the sets along with custom visuals.” – Josh Teed
Exclusive | Red Vision Records Steals Tracks, Sells Them On Beatport

Here at FreshNewTracks, we love chasing down a good story. Red Vision Records in El Paso, Texas is one of the stories you can’t help but share. Earlier today, I was cruising the interwebs and I came across a story from our friends at Your EDM. The title of the sort was “Serial Song Thief ‘Havirest’ Angers KOAN sound, Asa, SKisM, and EDM Community” The article was fascinating, so I decided to do a little digging. Well, a lot of digging. This is where it gets fun.
In addition to ASA, Koan Sound, and SKisM, our friend Collin McLoughlin was targeted too. Particularly, his “Chasing Ghosts” single from his extremely popular “Tears Of Tempo” EP. Collin tweeted about the trickery moments ago. I say he should be flattered, but it’s pretty shitty behavior to say the least. I decided to track down these ole’ chaps at Red Vision Records in El Paso, Texas. Here’s what I found…
DJ-Set | Ultra Music Festival 2013 Weekend 1 Live Sets
Posted by Middy on March 19, 2013
Ultra always brings some of the best sets from the biggest Djs with a whole host premiers on every stage. Here are the best sets from weekend one that will get you through the week to the second weekend. If you have any requests for more sets, put them in the comments. There were a lot of incomplete sets like Above & Beyond and Tiesto that I did not include, so if you want them just say so, but they are only about 20-30 minutes. Below is Hardwell’s outstanding mainstage set that includes 10 brand new tracks from himself & his label. The rest are after the jump.
Dubstep, Review | Reso – Tangram Remixed (Ft. Koan Sound, Billain, Om Unit, & Doshy)
Posted by Mach on March 12, 2013
One of the best remix compilations these artists will ever be a part of. Reso really knew who he wanted to do remixes, and his choices are a great success. Each remix is great on their own. KOAN Sound came in a little differently than they have been, but provided enough glitchy bass to feed a starving country… if people were to be able to ingest bass. Billain dropped a filthy Neuro-hop remix followed by an incredible melodic remix from Om Unit. Though I had made my comments on my favorites previously, the full remix of Doshy’s turned out to be more interesting than imagined. 4 great remixes, it doesn’t get better than that.

Glitch | Mord Fustang – Champloo
Posted by Spice on September 25, 2012
Calling all fans of KOAN Sound and Pretty Lights: this is a must listen. Estonian producer extraordinaire Mord Fustang test drives a new sound in his latest release, “Champloo,” which delivers the funked-out vibe that comes from dropping the tempo to 100 BPM but doesn’t dial down the synthwork. Mord is known for his lush, dazzling soundscapes, and they’re on full display here — and work surprisingly well with that groovy glitch-hop sound. This track definitely has a clear KOAN Sound vibe, but I think that Mord’s distinctive space-disco touch sets it apart from the rest. Overall? Awesome and a must download.
Dubstep | Mojo — Superman EP
Posted by Sev on August 13, 2012
Just released today on Buygore Records, was Mojo’s latest EP titled “Superman EP”. After Mojo’s last hit track Carnival I haven’t heard any distinctive tracks that have been worth while from him, until recently. This EP consists of four tracks each of which are unique in style compared to any tracks we have seen released lately.
Starting off with Superman, this track contains some smooth melodies alongside some distorted, overdriven sounds blended into a great progression. This is one of those tracks where the drop just streams straight through the track instead of blowing your ear drums into pieces. It serves as more of an emotional and easy going listen. In Warmin Up and Trigger Finger Mojo brings out the grimy, vigorous sounds that I could see FuntCase playing out at this shows, which means these tracks are no joke. They are the crowd pleasing tracks on the EP that keep the suspense in the intro and then crush the crowds in the drop. The last track on the EP is The Future, which is a mid-tempo styled track that reminds me of a beefed up version of what we see Culprate and Koan Sound making. Grab the EP on Beatport HERE.
Dubstep | Koan Sound – Akira (Habstrakt Remix)
Posted by Sev on August 7, 2012
Habstrakt coming through today with this outstanding remix to Koan Sound’s Akira. He has had this track finished for a while now, but I guess a combination of not having any release plans and lack of use in his sets led to him giving it away for free. Taking the heavy, bass-filled original and giving it that 8-bit Circus Records spin on it with a touch of heavy Habstrakt. It is usually a hit or miss with this style of dubstep, and this one is a hit.
