This past weekend, we had the opportunity to check out Paper Diamond in Dallas. The show was epic to say the least, but one of the unforeseen bonuses was that we had a chance to experience a performance by Dallas native, Jay Fresh. His music features upbeat electro production coupled with a spitfire lyrical flow, and his energy on stage compliments this style. The video was directed and edited by Josh Romero, shot by Hance Taplin and Shane Darnell, and produced by Conception Crafters. This is how you make a music video. The feeling was amazing. After a quick introduction to the blogosphere, Jay Fresh is back with the highly anticipated visuals to his “Otis” remix which dropped here a few days ago. For a rapper that’s 19 years old, he seems to really have an artistic maturity that places him above the rest. I’m looking forward to more “freshness” as he continues to drops solid tracks on the blog world. Jordan Michael Johnson, better known as Jay Fresh, is a hip-hop artist coming out of the indie music scene in Dallas. His compositions are mixtures of eclectic electronic beats with hip-hop overtones and while his style has been described by some as “eclectic modern hip-hop,” his appeal is increasingly defined by a more thoughtful focus on the lyrical.
In the past year, Jay has become a notable fixture among the Dallas live music scene – opening for artists such as: LMFAO, Wale, The Cool Kids, Mac Miller, Yelawolf, Big Krit and Trae The Truth. Jay recently teamed up with producer SuperVision (whose currently in the Pretty Lights camp), to create this original electronic remix of the Jay-Z/Kanye West’s original “Watch The Throne” cut.
I know what you’re thinking, not another “Otis” remix. Believe me, I wouldn’t have featured this if I didn’t think it wasn’t worth your time. Be sure to follow Jay on his journey via Facebook and Twitter, as he continues to make quality music and put the city of Dallas on his back. I have a feeling Jay Fresh may just be the blogosphere’s next big artist.
