Hip-Hop | nuLOVE – Hearts Up
Posted by Grubeats on December 14, 2012
When I heard “Iowa” and “hip-hop” in the same sentence, I wasn’t initially enthused. After opening my ears to the young Iowan group, nuLOVE, my opinions have changed. Poised with a determination to be heard, the duo’s MC, Boycott, boasts a calm, cool, and collected confidence, firing off two verses and easily brushing off the competition. The other half of nuLOVE, Jharee, strings together a trippy, raspy beat, perfectly suited for Boycott’s vocals.
Hip-Hop, Rap | Marc Goone – Real Cracker (prod. by Aaron Zuckerman)
Posted by J_Salzer on December 12, 2012
I’m not sure what golf course let Marc Gone film this provocative video, or let him anywhere near a putting green with pants like that, but wherever they are; we thank you. I often receive complaints such as: “not real hip-hop,” “this sux” or “Joseph I hate you so much you broke my heart in 8 different places I won’t ever be able to love again.” You guys need to take this video for what it is, it’s entertaining, and damn entertaining at that. Marc recruits some pretty girls, borrows a set of golf clubs, rents a BMW, and gets Aaron Zuckerman to make him a beat. If you aren’t entertained by this, well, keep scrolling. I’m sure we’ve got something to tickle your fancy.
Hip-Hop | Maxxx Flair — Forever Dope (Feat. Vaughn J)
Posted by jeffwbaird on November 21, 2012
One of the most rewarding facets of being exposed to such a legion of aspiring artists, I find, is the opportunity to watch them develop their sound. While some fail to progress, the artists that are committed to their music are critical of their work, and it’s intriguing to hear them improve and refocus with every release. The process of identifying young talent—whether you are a record label exec or Billy Beane is one in the same—you are scoping for potential. Maxxx Flair is one of those artists who seems to get better with every song — he has always had the talent, but now is putting all the pieces together; he is solidifying his craft and sound. “Forever Dope” is the product of a dexterous and astute emcee, combining his sharp flow and delivery with something I’m always searching for more of in hip-hop: message. Over a melodious and triumphant beat from TROP, Maxxx puts his storytelling ability on display, accompanied by a catchy Vaughn J hook, which highlights his desire to reach a broad range of listeners. Check out the track below, and connect with him on Facebook to make sure you witness his progression firsthand.
Dubstep, Electro | Kanye West & Jay Z – Ni**az in Paris’ (Cazzette Bootleg)
Posted by Sev on October 28, 2012
The wait is over! Finally we get to get our hands on the long awaited bootleg from Cazzette of Kanye West & Jay Z’s, Ni**az in Paris’. This track was one of the big highlights to this years UMF, being played by almost all the producers and DJ’s attending. These guys were probably one of the main catalyst to the remixes that started flooding through of the track back a few months ago. Either way they take this hip-hop track and mash together some heavy Dubstep and Electro sounds to create a massive drop for this track. Grab the FREE DOWNLOAD HERE.
Hip-Hop | Skiff – Van Wilder
Posted by BIGLIFE on October 22, 2012

In the mix of what has been labeled “Frat Rap” and has received criticism for lack of lyricism, a new artist emerges with a new sound, complimented by witty lyrics and a smooth flow. Enter; Skiff. The San Francisco native drops his 1st single out of his home at Wyclef Jean’s new label, “All Handz On Deck”. With his Hip Hop single “Van Wilder”, Skiff pretty much tells the story of the average college student, without the sugarcoating and simple lyricism.

Electronic, Glitch | Jayglow – Final Scenes EP
Posted by Sev on October 9, 2012
Inspected is a label known for having a vast variety of genres released from all sorts of artist. They supply their fans with everything from the heaviest of the heavy to the most melodic of tunes. Their latest release comes from an artist known for his incorporation of funk into his glich styled tunes, Jayglo. His newest EP on Inspected entitled “Finals Scenes” encompasses some jazz influenced, gliched out tracks that bring something fresh to its listeners. Jayglo keeps a great upbeat melody in all the tracks adding along his addition of heavy synths through to go along with the hip-hop style sounds. I had no intention of posting the EP, but after one listen through the EP I was hooked right away. Grab the EP off of Beatport HERE.
